[NA][PVE] LF another casual guild for raids!

in Looking for...

Posted by: Calexis.7348

Calexis.7348

Who we are: A dedicated group of friends who have been raiding and gaming together since early WoW days. We were a top 100 NA guild in our WoW heydays but due to growing up and growing into and real life commitments our size has dropped and we don’t have time to raid 3+ nights a week anymore. We are still planning on having 5-7 active members in the expansion and want to get back into raiding with HoT. (We also do all other types of PvE and casual PvP. We live on Isle of Janthir for WvW purposes).

We are looking for either individuals or a small guild about the same size as us with the same motivations and time commitments who want to raid one or two nights a week, hang out, grow a guild hall, and have a good time. We have a voice chat server and are not worried about age (though the guild is all in their mid to late 20’s for reference). We hold guild nights right now at 6PM PST/9PM EST on Wednesdays and have members spread out across the country. If this sounds interesting to you or your guild get a hold of me or Wolly.7240. Send us an in game mail if we are not on!

I played some Stronhold yesterday and I couldn’t put my finger on what I felt needed to change until I thought about it for a bit. And what it boils down to is I just don’t believe this game mode works with 5 players in the current format.

What I mean is that there is simply to much to do right now for just 5 players, and if everyone is doing one of the things that needs to be done it devolves into a series of 1v1s over objectives or 1 person getting crushed by more than 1, neither of which is fun. This is also a problem with the “ez zerg” strats now. The best way to balance this is to make the NPCs harder but if you need to dedicate more players to them to get through you have less players to do other things, there is not enough players to go around in that case.

My suggestion would be if you want to keep it 5 player to start removing aspects of the game mode. Remove the bomb carrying skrit and let players damage doors, remove summoning champions, basically look for ways to tighten the game mode down to its bare essence and focus on that.

However my preferred solution would be to make it a 10v10, or 8v8. This game mode just suits more players better. By increasing the player cap you can also slightly increase the size of the map, increase the difficulty of the NPCs and keep the complexity of the map. It also becomes (in my opinion) more fun when you have a big force organizing to complete objectives.

My thoughts.

Two weeks in a row now my guild has tried this and has hit a bug after the first boss where you go through the escort event of the spiders and aboms. Right as you hit the end where all the enemies are supposed to aggro onto the turret all our guns and the suit drops, and the entire party gets one shot. The mobs then attack the turret. Trying again we reach a point just before the turret and once again all the special gear for the encounter drops and the entire party is one shot again. Even if a person or two manages to make it through okay nothing unlocks and the rest of the party cannot get through to them. Not sure which parts of this are intended but it is certainly true that if you fail it once you cannot succeed the path anymore.

Chiming in to say my Portal Invasion Closer achievement for the living story has been stuck at 4/5 for two invasions now. I played both on overflow servers. Frostgorge and Dreadgehaunt. I had done Dreadgehaunt before but not Frostgorge

So in order to receive achievement credit, you need to participate and complete at least one watchwork portal event, and still be on the map when the meta ends. It doesn’t matter how far the meta gets progressed, and you don’t need to participate in any Molten/Pirate events.

I completed both of these requirements and didn’t get credit.
