So sad and so true. They definitely need to fix how melee works in dungeons. I almost always end up switching to my ranged weapon on boss fights as a Warrior because it is simply much more efficient. Even if I do less damage, the fact that I stay alive far longer outweighs any additional damage I would do for as long as I can stay alive while meleeing a boss.

There are definitely some specs/weapon combos that make it more viable than others, but the fact remains that compared to other options, it is far less effective to melee in boss fights. It is so obviously broken that there really is no rational argument for it. That you should have to limit yourself so much spec wise in order to be remotely effective doing this in comparison with other options, combined with the minimal advantage(if) of doing so makes no sense whatsoever as a working implementation.

Personally I will file this under reasons Jennah should be replaced by Mad King Thorn as ruler of Kryta.

I’d file it under reasons she should remain on the throne indefinitely frankly.

I agree that it is early on in the process to start thinking that the game will completely change character. However, the people who are worried about this have a LOT of precedent in other games to base their worries on. And as I said earlier, there is no harm in letting the dev team know where you stand as long as it is done intelligently and with positive intent.

So, when GW2 actually looked like it was following its manifesto, and a subset of the players complained about no endgame because they sped-run their way through everything, that was also whining, and they should have just manned up. You cannot have it both ways. Guess what, they didn’t just man up and shut up, and there has been a change. So, there is a precedent for complaints getting responded to.

In fact, there is no one who whines harder than hardcores when they aren’t getting their content fix as fast as they’d like it. And they do not stop whining until they get what they want. I have seen this happen in multiple games since I started playing MMOs in 2001.

They are people who have a need to prove themselves superior to other people by acquiring shiny toys in a video game, they pout and scream like a toddler who had his pacifier taken away when they don’t get things their way, and then they accuse everyone else of acting childish for imagining that the game should offer content that appeals to more than one narrow playstyle.

It may be one gear now, but when all the QQers get those Ascended, they will complain more. What will Anet do then? Add another tier of item. This is how gear-treadmill happens. kitten like this happened alot of time on others mmo, and Im afraid it will happen on GW2 as well.

It’s beneficial because it lets Arenanet know how their customers feel BEFORE they decide to change the game irreparably. There is nothing wrong with well thought out criticism; only mindless fuming is detrimental.

To be brief, I think it is an awful idea. It is just another type of resist mechanic, and I have never in my 12 years of playing MMOs met a player who enjoys farming resist gear. With all the good ideas ANet has come up with for this game, I’m disappointed to see something so boring and traditional.

The ascended gear just seems like another resist mechanic to me. Never liked farming fire resist gear in WoW, don’t expect this will be any more exciting.

Because they are almost always written with nonconstructive intent, by people with no idea what goes into game design, as a way for the poster to get some attention as they stamp their little feet because the game isn’t designed just for them.

Nothing relaxes you after a hard day riding wild horses on the steppes than a few hours playing GW2!
