Not sure if it’s a bug or if it’s intended behaviour, but I can’t seem to find it documented anywhere.
Is there a timeout on the chracter creation process?
GF just spent an hour creating a character only to get punted back to the character selection / creation screen before she was finished.
Does the creation system time you out after a while on purpose (ie. does she need to hurry up) or is this a bug?
Yes. Thank you. And if I ever decide that it’s appropriate for my authentication to a web based service to be based partially on a dynamically assigned IP address which could have been allocated to any other subscriber of my ISP within this geographical area then that’s certainly an option that I will employ.
So.
I got fed up, really really fed up, of having to log in to my mail account to authorise my logins to the game. Really fed up. You cannot begin to understand just HOW fed up I was.
Imagine my delight then when I discover that I can now enable the Google (Google! FTW, right?) authenticator for my account – this will then allow me to just enter the code which is displayed in an awesome fashion on the screen of my smart phone when I want to log in. Oh yeah, that’s where the win is…..
Except it isn’t…
Twice now I’ve tried this, and twice the kitten Google authenticator has forgotten the key that I entered meaning that I have no way to generate the code required for my log in. This then forces me to unlink the authenticator from my account. Which, in itself, is a chore.
Seriously? A MILLION AND ONE WEBSITES AND ONLINE SERVICES MANAGE THIS JUST FINE!
It’s not difficult, really it isn’t. I don’t need babysitting, I have strong passwords and a really good understanding of Internet security. Please treat me like an adult, let me use a user name and quality password to log in and play the game THAT I’VE PAID FOR!
It’s not my fault that a LARGE number of customers of yours seem completely unable to choose a password that couldn’t be guessed by a 5 year old with a copy of ‘Spot the Dog and His New Ball’, please don’t treat me like a moron
I just want to play Guild Wars 2 – it should be a fun and pleasurable experience, I shouldn’t have to complete the computer equivalent of the Krypton Factor just to be able to log in
Nessie, thanks – looks like it’s bugged then :-/
Dotimus, Deified, I understand how the interface works – unfortunately none of it …. well …. works.
All of the options are greyed out, or not there, and where I try to make changes (names of ranks etc) they won’t save.
For example, if I right click on a user name there is no ‘kick’ option at all.
I’ve created a Guild, paid my silver, invited a couple of family members, and now I’m stuck.
I get the feeling that I should be able to edit ranks / permissions for those ranks, but I can’t.
I get the impression that I should be able to remove people from the Guild at will, but there doesn’t seem to be an option (in case you’re wondering why, I accidentally invited someone that we don’t know and want to remove them).
I get the impression that I should be able to edit the MotD, but the option for that is greyed out.
At first we weren’t able to ‘represent’ the Guild, but I resolved that by travelling to Horncall Gather Waypoint (random solution, but it worked …..) – that hasn’t fixed anything else though
Am I missing something, or is this a bug that I should be reporting?
Thanks
