-1 to Op for pointless QQ/trolling thread, if anything should get nerfed it is mainly portal in wvw. It is riddiculous to see ppl can cry even about minor/not that used skills.
When i see mesmer they mostly use GS/staff combo or pistol as offhand.I myself use focus/sword/gs, and i can tell you it is NOT easy to draw ppl from walls at all.
i agree that it s not that easy to pull people off walls if they dont stand on the edge.
meanwhile the OP’s signature take a funny meaning in the light of his post.
Ralathar, you should read your sig again and have more faith in what you believe, you will only be stronger..

I’ll say the same as I said in another thread, basically coming down to 3 words:
Lyss and Ilya
There are 2 unique illusionary pistols in the game, but each has a distinct name. The same pistols are being used by the iDuelist. Lyss and Ilya are the 2 ‘halves’ of Lyssa (who is basically the patron goddess of Mesmers).
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Lyssa
So why are Mesmers not able to wield both sister weapons together?
As it is apparent that the Mesmer appears to be lacking a midrange power mainhand weapon it feels as if the developers initially intended the Mesmer to have a pistol as a mainhand weapon to begin with. But maybe they could not decide on a set of abilities that could be tied into it whilst still retaining the ‘feel’ of the Mesmer.
So I hope that someday soon they will be able to come to a satisfactory set of abilities and provide us with a pistol as a mainhand weapon.
Not sure if the rules on these forums allow for a petition though; but I’d sign it!
One could argue that those pistols are also applicable to thieves whom may fall under the purview of Lyssa should they choose a path of deception and trickery. (There might be a reason for engineer, but heck if I know…)
However, since the iDuelist is wielding both of them, I would like to think that, not only Anet made those items as a reference to Lyssa, they actually are planning to add mainhand pistols as futur content update and left it there as an easter egg the same way Batman Arkham Asylum had a secret room spoiling the early design of Arkham City.
Hence why, since it might still be in development, I’m laying down some ideas, free of patent for them to rip off, should they take a look at it.
Wishful thinking… maybe…
given the skin of these two guns (like you wrote, purple ether look like the guns wielded by the iDuelist and like the GS vision of the mist), it doesnt look very thievish but very mesmerish.
Whether dual guns is noble is irrelevant since a mesmer is simply a magical duelist (IMHO dual guns are more akin to street thug theme than noble), it would be nice in term of gameplay to use one as a main hand weapon especially if it had an emphasis on power attacks.

It dropped for me, but I’m not seeing the attraction to the stats? While it gives some of everything, it gives comparatively little of the stats I need compared to my current gear.
Somebody want to enlighten me?
Just guessing here, but likely because it has a higher stat budget than most accessories readily available.
The 3% crit is equal to most accessories which include crit, the rest of the stats are either more than half or just under half of regular accessories.
so instead of 40, 40, 56. you get 25, 25, 25, 25, 25, 25, 3%. Not to mention, but I think it even has magic find?
yes it has 3% magic find too if i m not mistaken.
i got it yesterday and i dont know either if i should drop some of my main stats accessory for something more balanced.
in any event, a nice choice.

the charr sniper rifle on tripod.
less ressources required but lower hp than ballista and perhaps slower speed.

well if you think the teleportation from the staff is a reliable way to go faster, whatever floats your boat
the point of these runes is that they free up a space for more utility/weapon skills avoiding limiting your choice of decent tools. Look at my post further up for my rotation.
besides, i m sceptical about the passive bonus signet of most of the other classes granting only 10% spd bonus as opposed to 33% spd bonus AOE.
to take you example:
if i m immobilized, i still got blink/tp from staff/decoy/duelist X to get away if my heal is on CD.if i had a passive spd bonus slotted on utility i would have to discard either decoy/blink/feedback. That d be a hefty price IMHO.
or perhaps ditch the staff to get the focus instead which would reduce my survivability.
it is obviously a matter of preference but I do not believe that opting for runes of the centaur instead of a more offensive set of runes is really kittening you.
It is very reliable, of curse not on its own though. I use it while the focus swiftness is on cooldown.
As mentioned above, all it takes is a double click on a weapon in order to switch it out, which shouldn’t take you more then 1 second if you keep your inventory open while traveling. So you don’t loose anything using a focus, other then one inventory space. Using Blink only for travel is a bad idea, yes. However, if you are already using it for combat purposes, you might as well use it for traveling as well, as long as you don’t spam it when you get close to enemy territory. I’d rather use a utility skill for travel, then a healing skill, since I have two more utility skill I can use.
Swiftness is really overrated. When playing my Ranger, I can use the 10% movement speed signet, plus the leap skill (Swoop) on the greatsword, and be able to keep up with an Engineer having constant swiftness. If I use swiftness on top of that, I can easily overtake the Engineer. 33% is really not that much.
Signets come with an active skill, and you also have two more utility slots, so you aren’t really losing that much, if anything.
as i wrote, i guess it s a matter of personal taste.
I really enjoy swiftness for being able to manoeuvre in the best way possible.
that usually let me have the jump on someone or at least run away for unfavourable situation.
Gandara
Except that it gives a 10 second buff and then you need to wait 15 seconds for it to recharge.
No, centaur rocks for everything. You also never need to heal at the start of a fight so the heal has plenty of time to recharge. If I would like to use other runes? Certainly, but I also like to reach where I want in a fast manner and 15 second gaps in swiftness is terrible.
Statistically speaking unless you lose the fight by 2% HP that extra condition damage that would have won the fight does not really enter the equation.
The staff can also give you 4 seconds swiftness, and you can use teleportation from the staff, or utility, to move forward faster as well.
Unless you are just running from door to door in Worlds PvP, or standing safely behind a wall casting skills, you do need to have your heal ready. It is very possible to turn a corner and run into a group of players. And since you are wearing light armor, it only takes an immobilize skill, or some quickness, to get your health very low fast.
I can get almost 300 more condition damage from runes. That’s equal to a full trait line, or about half the condition stats from an amulet. Runes make a big difference.

Which is still a LOT of requirements in order to get all the bonuses required, and forces one into specific runes, and is only available at higher levels.
6x runes of the Centaur does not seem like a lot of requirements to have nigh perma speed buff.
20pts in Chaos isn’t really a pre-requisite, it just helps a bit more.
as written earlier, the other stats (Power/bleed duration) of the Centaur runes are still useful to most mesmers.
considering that mobility is key in www, I would think that this is an excellent set of runes.
coupled with blink (I traited it to 1200), mesmer can easily be one of the fastest classe to go from A to B.
byebye my crit, byebye a part of my damage, byebye my build, ONLY for the movement speed i should have like other classes
cmon …
my build is 0/30/20/0/20.
I have 3093 in power and 50% crit chance and 88% in crit dmg, I am not yet full exotic 80. My armor is mainly exotic 78 berserker.
I use ether feast as a heal which is on a 20 sec CD (highest CD for any mesmer heals)
Thus, I have 33% speed bonus most of the time regardless of whether I spec 20 pts in chaos or not.
if you use a mantra build, the movement buff is up more often.
runes of the centaur bring 165 power so it does contribute to your damage like any other set.
Moreover, this speed buff is AOE so it does not only benefit you but others.
if anything you have a choice and it s not going to impact your build since you dont need anything in particular to make these runes efficient.
they represent a valid and efficient way of gaining a speed boost without sacrificing a utility/weapon slot.
Gandara
I agree with the fact that you cannot have it all although i think that using the sniper rifle as some kind of siege weapon would be a nice addition.
a bit like a ballista with no AOE capabilities and easier to destroy.
in the meantime, you can always build a ballista.

Why are NA guilds joining english speaking EU servers at all, instead of giving the best for the servers the run from?
Because they correctly realized that to be competitive with this scoring system you need 24/7 coverage and achieving that without horrible queues is only possible if a server has groups from different timezones. And to reach this situation you need NA players on EU servers and EU players on NA servers, which is what is happening and what everyone with half a brain foresaw the instant we had the first week-long matches.
If anything, the weird thing here is that it took so long to start the process.
If anything, it is odd that s most of the other EU servers played the game to a certain extent while only a handful did not and chose to abuse the easy way to win (free transfer ftw).
pretty egoistical for a game and clearly reflecting a poor state of mind.

blablablabla
you are off topic.
try answering these questions first:
Why are NA guilds joining english speaking EU servers at all, instead of giving the best for the servers the run from?
Why did ANet put up two ladders?
I can understand the malaise here.

I would be okay with removing downed state if some classes had their damage output severely reduced. Going from full health to downed in under 3 seconds is ludicrous if you can’t revive a teammate.
Are you playing WvW as a level one? Either that, or you are severely lacking skill to be dying in under 3 seconds from one person. Even if you are getting one shot, do you really think fight to survive is going to save you from this?
so what is it then?? fight to survive help or not?? make up your mind
btw thief can kill someone pretty quickly especially with the current rendering/culling issue.
just be more clever about who you attack and more savvy when choosing the moment to do so.

With all the complaining I don’t think people realize this has been a good close match. This isn’t even close to being a boring blowout like we had last match. Hat’s off to VS for throwing their best at us. You’re not the only ones putting in long hours. We’ve been putting in long hours and losing sleep also but it’s a been a lot of fun because of the dedication your server has to winning. I see why you guys are in T1 and deserve to be there. Desolation’s wvw guilds and players have earned high praise also for their commitment to doing well in this match and are showing everyone we can be competitive in T1.
I have been playing most of the nights this week on VS although this is not my home server although I play on a EU server. I just wanted to see how good servers in T1 were.
clearly, yesterday, AS was barely there and after the server reboot VS presence was faltering.
while Desolation was out in force, capping SM in few minutes after the reboot and gradually overwhelming everything with sheer numbers culminating with VS’ spawn camp.
This reminds me a lot of Baruch Bay plus loads of condescending talk from everywhere.
a bit of humility and self appraisal would go a long way in assessing the situation.
There are a few myths here:
This match up is nowhere near a close fight at all at night (especially 2-6AM UK time), perhaps during the day.
There no such thing as a consistent 2 vs 1 as far as I saw at night since AS isn’t even on.
I don’t really want to comment about RUIN guild but they are really numerous at night.
I cannot determine their real size but this is the guild tag that will be ubiquitous in the deep of the night (UK time) especially if you factor in their different “guilds” AKA ruinnation, hammer squad ruin, ruins, ruin gaming and so on.
Gandara
The balance issue must be frustrating for both VS and AS, but comeon VS you had no opposition at night for weeks.
Deso has definately improved as rather than getting steamrolled by AS in prime time like last time we manage to hold our own.
First of all yes desolation is a lot better than it used to be.
Secondly we love to have an opposition at night. We wanted that since the release. But there is a difference between an opposition of the same size and an overwhelming zerg.
If ruin was a 30 people guild it would be fun we would fight on equal ground at night. But you are far more than that and the frustrating part is that we can’t do anything against such a number.
welcome to the world of most servers..
when you see outstanding www results with the first ones having score with an excedent of 100k points over the 2nd one, it does not mean that they “dominate” the others.
It is just that they fielded more number to ensure this “victory”.
Usually, it is simply because they have all the nights to make points thanks to night crew zerg overwhelming any opposition.
nothing really fair or to brag about.
winners obviously never feel the same and think it s because of their superior “strategic” capacities and skills.
Usually these guys are rightly considered lamers.
that is the situation of desolation right now and was probably the situation of VS before regarding other match-ups.

To the posters insulting people who bought keys and expected an item:
We aren’t talking about the US economy or housing market. We’re talking about a stupid video game where people want to run around with a pumpkin rifle. Based on colorful advertising and good faith, a lot of people paid some money with the understanding that doing so would give them a “chance” at those items.
That “chance” is being proven to be aggressively small. Different people came into this with different expectations, but I do think its safe to say that the cost of keys, coupled with the tiny percent chance of a skin, equates to a more cynical policy than fans of Anet anticipated.
Fair enough. Lesson learned. Personal responsibility also means licking your wounds and moving on. Those that feel they got misled, will be less likely to give Anet cash like that on impulse.
In my opinion, that’s bad business for Anet, and less fun for the players who weren’t so lucky. It didn’t have to be that way, and I don’t think there is ANY harm in lambasting Anet for this mess. They can, and should do better by their players.
touché
the key words are:
“We’re talking about a stupid video game where people want to run around with a pumpkin rifle. Based on colorful advertising and good faith, a lot of people paid some money with the understanding that doing so would give them a “chance” at those items."
needless to say that based on the amount of posts by angry players expressing their emotions, a loss of trust in the ANet brand has been sustained.
That is just not good, regardless of whether GW2 players do have restraint, responsibility, etc…or not.

As mentioned earlier, runes of the centaur help a lot to enjoy www on a mesmer.
switching to focus is just cumbersome at best.
Gandara
I also regularly press my heal to get the swiftness buff from the centaur runes when travelling across map on my own, pretty useful
Gandara
This issue makes it pretty hard to enjoy WvW.
it is impossible to assess a situation and make the correct moves which is the essence of pvp.
Now it s just a gamble where one would hope not to walk through a whole zerg on his/her own.
Gandara
your link does not work.
Gandara
yeah the bouncing abilities are quite restrictive in some area.
it s a bit like with the mesmer that can spawn clone on dodge, these clones agro the closest target, be it a critter, a neutral mob or an aggressive one.
This can be quite annoying in already tight fights
