That’s true, but again, it would be optional so you could turn it off.
The idea I had in mind was a really small number in a box that’s just a kind of grey to make the number stand out. Nothing huge. I should note I use fast-cast ground targeting so I lose the green AoE rings that would otherwise let players know they are out of range. This would also be nice for getting the most out of Mesmer Blinks now that I’ve noticed while running on my Mesmer I get the “Out of range.” message a lot while running around harvesting.
I attached a terrible mock up I did in paint, ideally the grey wouldn’t be opaque, and the numbers would be white with black border and the entire thing would be a little larger. But that’s kind of what I was shooting for.

While playing my Grenadier Engineer I dodged backwards from an attack and wondered, “Will I still be within 1500 range of the enemy I’m throwing grenades at?” After a second I didn’t get the, “Out of range.” message and I knew I was in range. But it got me thinking, an option to have a small number appear next to the cursor that indicates the distance between me and where my cursor is hovering would be kind of useful. It would let me know if I could dodge back and continue attacking without moving or if I should dodge forward or to the side. It would also stop the mashing of my Grenade skill as I slowly drag my cursor towards me to find 1500 range.
Any thoughts are welcome of course! This is also my first suggestion :0
