Winter's Presence: JP req? :(

I too absolutely =^..^= hate the seasonal jumping puzzles halloween/wintersday (pre-purchase to present player 6588 hours/1208 days…and never finished halloween or wintersday puzzles)… I generally only hate the normal in game puzzles, but have done all those.

kitten mini-games all over now annoy me even more, and suck the MMO fun out of playing for me.

Nothing like getting, prepping to get everything done for a quest (yeah shoulders), only to notice 3x completion of a puzzle I have spent hours and hours on and never completed once in 3 years.

I would not mind if there was an alternative way to get achievements for quests that currently require completion in these, but since there are not: I am actually actively looking for beta games to fuel my 20ish year mmo addiction (beta tested meridian59, but Ultima Online beta hooked me).

I agree the gw2.dat file is the tough one. I tried to move via flash drive to wifes laptop last year, had to use WinRAR or 7zip to cut the huge file into smaller pieces because win XP and vista was not able to move then entire file to a flashdrive. This was not because flashdrive didn’t have the capacity, earlier versions of windows have a cap on file size capacity on flash drive. I think it I had to make the files under 2 or 4 gigs? I don’t think this is an issue on win 8.1 and for sure is not an issue on win 10 (dunno about win 7).

Depending on what your upgrading from, you MAY have to do a clean install, despite what gothicus says. If your on xp or vista you WILL have to do clean install. From win 7 or win 8.1 you won’t “need” to, personally, I will be doing clean install.
I have a HDD I am using now for storage that I’ll move important files onto, and then once official release of win 10 I’ll do fresh install on the SSD, then move the gw2 folder back to the SSD.

Remember whichever way you do, DO backup your important stuff before you upgrade/install (pictures, teamspeak identity, browser url’s, whatever) I had the luxury of flashdrive transfer for some of these things from old system when I put win10 beta on this system in December…I’d have been very lost if I had not.

HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]

To clarify: $50 is the price of the expansion. We included the core game as a free bonus to make it easier for new players to get into it.

But that’s the problem. New players pay 50 bucks and get a copy of the core game + HoT.
Veterans pay the same price, only get HoT. That is the problem.

Just because we already own it doesn’t mean a copy of the core game has no value. I can give it to a friend, use it as a mule account, get daily rewards on it. We can benefit greatly from another copy.

This enlightens me as to why this may have been done. I had presumed that the core game with HoT expansion was an either/or …but if you get expansion code separate with the option to apply to either new OR existing account…then this appears to be a way to artificially inflate their user numbers.

I can see gw2 telling investors/press
“HoT expansion draws in 1,000,000 NEW ACCOUNTS”
(while in reality it may be, 25k new accounts and 975,000 mule accounts)

Dated Feb 25, 2014 the website http://2p.com/4680897_1/Interesting-Numbers-about-Guild-Wars-2-You-Might-Not-Know-by-EdwardsLin.htm
shows at that time 5 million copies sold…

Really, what other purpose could there be for this sales technique, then to artificially boost numbers of game sold?

Thoughts? (poof out door to work)

eep edit after shower, had an extra 9 in there…really out door to work now

Adding to thread that I am displeased with this.

I am a original pre-order player (5679 hours over past 1028 days) with a second account (2574 hours over past 950 days) that I had intended to only be a mule really… going to guess the played hours that overlap are less then 200 hours, as I did not have 2 computers capable of playing until recently.

My displeasure it that new players getting the core game + expansion for the price the existing player base is. This, in my mind, is a slap in the face on the loyalty of current player base.

I have not decided yet if I will purchase for either account. I DO know that if I do not, then I will be off to another game. I have enjoyed playing and freely admit, this is my first ‘free to play’ game. I realize that for subscription based games I’d have spent MUCH MUCH more money in this time played (been hooked on mmo’s since UO beta).

rubbing cheek thanks for listening.

Rather dismayed the specifics of what effect this will have on multiple server guild banks will have. Are there so few of us that have?

This has been an ongoing problem for me as well, I thought it was something physical (cat hair/gunk) under the plastic that actually moves down onto the switch…but I couldn’t get it to happen outside of game. Maybe I am still not totally sane, but at least now I know I am not crazy.

Even when this is fixed, I will still hate jump puzzles…but maybe a little bit less.
