Is there a holy hand grenade to kill it? That would be the best!

Content blocked by too many dungeons

Hi there

For several nights I have been trying to find a group for CoE story mode.
I have asked around in Lions Arch and I have been by the entrance.

The best I have managed was to find one player who wanted to join me.
I think the reason is that FotM is in fact 15 or so new dungeons. When players look for groups, most do it in LA or in the zone where the entrance is found. But when looking for a FotM group, players add the difficulty scale they are looking for to their LFG request.

You could look at the old dungeons in the same way, lvl 1 being storymode, and all explorable variants being lvl 2, speed runs being lvl 3.
Players who wants to do speedrund wont group with you if you can’t do it the optimized way.

The problem is that the majority of players choose to adventure in the highest available level, thus leaving the low levels hard to enter for new heroes. You end up spending hours LFG.

Content is being denied to groups of players, who didn’t unlock in time.

Please address this issue.

We need Outward Scaling, not just Upward.

Great idear! A huge improvenent!

…and add some randomness to the mix too. One element I miss in most recent MMO’s is the probability that something unexpected happens.

oh, and please no siege engines in tight spaces please.

Just reached lvl 35 and I am only 120 Small Scales short of my epic armor/weapon combination… 15 Small Scales for 6 armor pieces and 2 weapons each….

I hope diminishing returns wont hit me too hard :-)

And for my lvl 50 set I realize that I will have to start farming a lot sooner – or get the money to buy the Scales.

Harvesting nodes as a reward

There is a concept of gardens that I think shoud be emphasized.

The idear is that several harvesting nodes are grouped closely together, and a strong monster / host of monsters roam the area.

By doing this you make the nodes the reward for killing the monsters.

The idear that nodes are a resource that you need to fight for, rather than just the random node appearing here and there makes sense. You take a risk and get a reward.

One way to start might be to introduce guards by all rich nodes.

Remove the death penalties in this game (repair and waypoint costs)

There must be a risk/reward balance. If anything, make the penalty harder.

I see way too many glass builds, where ppl get oneshoted just because toughness/vitality matters too little.

In the harder dungeons this is very evident.

Why are a lot of gamers unsociable?

No open world content requires grouping.
There is no reason to group, other than assembling for a dungeon run.

Well, maybe a minor social one… I group a bit with my 4y old son, as he cries for help every now and then – and by grouping I can track his position.

To put groups to use, grouping should offer value. In regular MMOGs the health bars are a good reason. But in GW2 most casual players dont care enough, and larger events easily have too many participants anyway.

One suggestion: Have combo’s matter more within groups. Mark the buttons in player UI that are combo starters, and when a starter is in effect, mark possible finishers.

Gold Buyers - Lets deal with the cause in addition to the effect.

One way to punish gold buyers is to ban them. Another is to simply strip the accounts.

“You have aquired game assets in an illegal way. All you assets have been removed. "

The problem with this or with banning is probably the resulting load on support. Some ppl will whine that they didn’t buy the gold, that someone they didnt know just mailed it to them.

In fact gold sellers might do exactly that …

Get rid of "Town Clothing" & a few other niggles!

It could be used for some clothing for crafting.

An automatic change to town clothing in cities would be nice too.

Both could benefit immersion.

Don’t make changes to implement “standard” features. They might well be the reason your players left those other games.

Instead have the courage to do something new!

…. but taken one by one a few of them make sense anyhow

Inspecting – why?? It contributes nothing except to show off.
Following – required by many automation and boxing soultions. Most players learn more by finding their own way.
Dueling – Why not?
Friend login notification – this is part of my game client by now.
Player trading in person – Why not?

The ability to bypass content a higher velocity then the current design challenges the world design. Getting somewhere easier or faster changes how challenging getting there would be.

Can they can die? Can they could be scared by trolls and run away with you helpless on top? Can you could be thrown off for serious damage?

Story for Guilds

Many element in GW2 are designed so that you can participate just by being there. Most of the content can be considered centered around your character.

The Personal Story has been exactly that … personal.

I would like to see a mechanic like it for guilds. Some shared experience in the guild to build your relations on. The Guild Story should be a story progression for guilds rather than for single individuals.

In most MMOG there is some sort of Guild Story, but it is not an actual story, more like single or grouped events repeated over and over in order to accumulate enough gear for the next tier of events.

By telling the stories of guilds, it should be possible to build a strong social bond within them.

I think contested content is more fun than instanced content, but in any case, some sort of guild content is more fun than no guild content.

So I would like to see “Guild Wars 2: Rise of the Guilds”!
