Hm I see. Thanks for the thorough response. I’ll try to just play Gw2 then and try not to worry about anything else lore related. Really wish there was something like a journal with lore tidbits implemented in the game explaining the world of Tyria since it seems like a vast, deep world.
I see. What troubles me to be honest is the origin stories. Like, at this point in Gw2 I have no idea about the origins of the world or the origins of the races, like, the story behind the asurans or the sylvari etc. Where they fit into the world and stuff.

I guess I’m gonna try WoodenPotatoes vids again, no other choice since I love the GW2 experience so far and I’d like it to be as complete as possible. I had actually started the game half a year ago but skipped all cutscenes and never read any text but when I decided to come back to the game I figured I should do it properly. I guess I can still ignore the text on the hearts. right? That seemed way too irrelevant and side-questy.
Hey guys, I’m new to the game and I have no idea whether to read up on / watch previous events like the lore behind the entire world, GW1 story and the events leading up to GW2 or just play the game as is. I’m lvl 11 and I’m loving the game but the thought of visiting places and talking to people I would’ve known from GW1 while I don’t is kinda driving me crazy.
So my question is, does the game explain anything from previous events or general lore?
I tried watching WoodenPotatoes vids but the accent is a deal breaker to me, and watching / reading for 2-3 hours straight is a no-no considering that I’m too excited to not play for 3 hours.
Do I need to know stuff that aren’t explained in game? Like, race origins, previous wars, important characters and places? Is there a short wrap-up of all these things somewhere?
Hey guys. I just started the game and I was surprised to see I have 11 Achievement point. One of them is Alpha Crafter (I’m somehow on Tier 2) and the other 10 are from Hint Completion.
I literally created a character, killed 3 enemies without even talking to the NPC and when I logged back in I noticed the points. Is this normal? (Talking about Alpha Crafter, since I know hint completion is normal)
Edit: Wait it just hit me. The achievement talks about wardrobe and I don’t even have access to wardrobe yet. Could the point be because I own the heroic edition which I think gives you a skin?

Oh by the way, I have 2 GW2 accounts and I was thinking, is there a way to see which one I’ve linked? Though i did try logging in with both maybe I messed something up? Or is it a known bug?
Hello. I just bought Guild Wars 2 and during registration I chose to link my account to my Original Guild Wars account yet something has gone very wrong. When I log in the website using my Gw2 account it still gives me the choice to link and when I try to do so it randomly logs me in the original GW account on the site, and then the Display name changes from CharlieGR.4307 to a random string of characters almost like a CD key.
When that happens and I hit the “link accounts” option while logged in with the GW1 account it says the accounts are linked but instead of the Gw2 email after that “You can now login to GW1 with this GW2 email:” it lists the original GW email, instead of the GW2 one. I also cannot login on Gw2 with original GW email or login in GW1 with my GW2 email.
It sounds like the accounts aren’t linked but sometimes when I log in on the launcher instead of saying “Welcome CharlieGR” it says “Welcome myemail@email.com” and whenever that happens (completely random) the Cd-key-like string of characters also appear in-game (Specifically during character selection), and to fix that I log out and then back in.
