That beign said I don’t see how the story or scarlet makes any sense at all ( I guess we’ll have to wait 6 more months to have her motives and background revealed to us) I think this is a real shame, specially after watching some of WoodenPotatoes videos and realizing that the guys at Anet are sitting on a gold mine of lore and history and have a thousand things to draw from and can make very rich stories.
WP’s a great lore guy, but his theories present plot holes big enough to throw both M. Night Shalyman and Damon Lindelof through.
His theories might be 10 times more interesting than the current plot of the living story, yes, but what I’m talking about is that the writers have a mountains of lore to work with, established history, heroes, vaillains and tons of misteries unresolved and I don’t see them exploiting that lore gold mine at all.
They’ve been throwing Sky Pirates at us for months and do we know where they come from and what their endgame is? at least with the Flame Legion and the Dredge we learned a lot about them through personal story/events.
And why Sky Pirates anyway? Rule of cool I guess because storywise they make no sense so far.
Sadly, it would be way more interesting than the story you have going right now.
For some, and not for others.
Regarding the story, it’s interesting how Scarlet can summon Steam Creatures, there are theories suggesting that she's from the same alternate reality as the steam creatures (Infinity Ball storyline) and that's why she can control portals and summon them (credit goes to WoodenPotatoes)
IMO that would be a huge payoff and kind of explain a bit of scarlet’s background and motives, I’d like to be able to be excited for more than just champion loot bags, but if I don’t even know what’s going on with the story it’s pretty hard.
Ok, after playing a lot of invasions and completing the Funhouse I have my critique, here goes.
I think the new patch is a lot of fun to play and the new villain is a lot of fun to play against, I think it’s pretty obvious by this point that whoever wrote her is a huge fan of Harley Quinn, I mean she even comes at you with a giant hammer, yeah.

In some parts of the game it feels like it takes its own story semi seriously and some part like this where you have cartoony nonsense like this that makes no sense, I guess from now on I’ll only get hyped about content and features because getting involved and invested in the story and lore of Guild Wars doesn’t really pay off.
There’s only one way to “farm champs” in these events, and that is to ignore the aether captain and kill the champ reinforcements. It is not any more time efficient than normally clearing the event and moving onto the next, and the captain gives better loot than the normal champs. I’ve never seen anyone attempt this, and I don’t think it’s even possible because you can’t control that many people and a few of them are going to kill the captain regardless of what other people tell them to do.
In every other invasion event killing the champions either progresses it rapidly or outright clears it.
There is no issue here.
This is correct, there is no way to farm champions without progressing the event at the same time and I think it’s outrageous the way the OP starts accusing the community with no basis at all.
I saw people complaining about the same in map chat when the event is in fact telling us to kill Aetherblades, they either don’t understand how the event works or they are toxic players that just need to be blocked and sometimes even reported for verbal abuse
Some player actually go crazy if you happen to lay a finger on any mob that doesn’t progress the event, this has to stop dude, you let people play the way that they want to play and better stop trolling.
Regards.
This is totally our fault, we dropped the ball on this plain and simple. We planned to have this messaged ahead of time to be fair to everyone, communication broke down between those who knew it was supposed to be messaged, and those who were supposed to message it and it simply didn’t happen.
As game director this is ultimately my fault first and foremost, and I’m sorry for those who potentially lost some karma as a result. It is our policy to message these kind of changes ahead of time with lots of warning, I’ll do everything possible to make sure this doesn’t happen in the future.
I’d recommend not using your karma consumables yet, give us a day or two to try and see what options we have available to help mitigate the issue.
What? I already used all my consumables after reading the patch!
judgin by the last scene, maybe they should have used Mr Brenher to do voicework for some villain or bad guy, I don’t like how Trahearne turned out to be at all.
Stuff
These types of people, mostly neckbeards and children are hardly new to MMO’s, let alone guildwars.
Personally however seeing people getting so angry and upset over something so trivial as completing an event as intended is hilarious. The flood of angry tears in map chat would serve as an indication of a ‘job well done’ and perhaps encourage me to hang around to complete some more stuff, they are farming.
Although I agree that mindless verbal abuse is annoying it is also important to remember that they are getting angry because you just ruined their day. I can only imagine the sorry destitute lives these individuals must lead in order to take a game so seriously.
Either way, let them get mad and carry on going about your business.
Do it for the lulz.
Intentional harassment of other players is against the TOS and is a bannable offense. As much as they get angry and yell, you are much more likely to get a 3 day vacation then they are.
A
vacationtempban for what exactly, saying nothing and playing the game as intended? Well done sherlock, I think you’re on to something.Either way, I find it sad you would view a ban as a ‘vacation’, that implies you treat the game as some sort of career.
In more recent news, playing the game as intended will land you a ban, apparently.
your straw man argument is weak at best. There is nothing wrong with completing an event, but no one here is talking about completing an event. The words used are
“troll the farmers and feast on their tears” or “watch them suffer as you screw over their farming”
If you look on gw2stuff.com many of these events previously went uncompleted for 100+ hours at a time. All of a sudden you are magically interested in completing these events for the sake of them? No, you are attempting to harass other players because you don’t agree with their way of playing the game, and that is what is a bannable offense, harassment.
>implying me
No, and also, no.
I distinctly remember this thread being about verbal abuse/harassment, and you guys seem to be turning it into a place to vent your anger over having your farming chains broken by legitimate players at some point or another.
Personally, I don’t hang out in orr but if I did, I was merely illustrating to you how I personally would handle your bannable offense of verbal abuse and harassment, by continuing to play the game legitimately, as intended by the content designers.
What about this are you just not getting?
Wow, just wow, they show you that the only ones that are trying to complete the event are trolls and griefers trying to kitten people off and harrass them and you call THEM the legitimate players? You’ve completely lost me.
Look man, if someone calls you out because you messed up then man up and try not to mess up the next time, don’t come crying to the forums like a baby, done.

Hi, I have a Charr with large bodysize and his Flame Legion legguards overlap a lot.
I leave a link comparing my character with the Charr NPC vendor with the flame legion armor
