You guys keep focused on the the fact that OP mistakenly assumed EOTM as “legit” WvW, do you disagree still? I did WvW a very long time ago, before they introduced that ranking system. I remember karma trains in WvW proper. I remember zerging like a bloody imbecile, where my personal contribution felt minute in an enormous scale in which I was either an infinitesimal part of a 40 man blob, or part of a roaming group that got plowed over by the enemy 50 man blob. Granted, WvW is not my thing anymore and you’ll probably disagree with my standpoint and that’s ok. You do you and I’ll do myself. I won’t list my grievances against the game mode, but perhaps those of you who are fond of it, should make an effort to reinforce why WvW isn’t working at the moment.
Ultimately, the point is that people are currently not enjoying WvW, or any other game mode for that matter.

Because I love the game so much, as a hardcore PvE’er, I feel compelled to try other game modes when the one I enjoy falls short of meeting my needs. There’s nothing else to turn to.

You know, I started to type something amazing and eloquent for your eyes, but I deleted it all an decided to keep it short.

WvW: Lame
PvP: Meh
Open world PvE: Snore. Literally fell asleep during AB Meta and still got rewards.
Instanced PvE: Unrewarding, casual, repetitive, and unpromising.

I think the consensus at the moment is that every single game mode is completely mediocre, ANet. This is pathetic. I mean, how do you expect to keep us faithful players? I’ve played since open beta and I’m beginning to regret ever paying $50 dollars for your expansion. Do you know how many lattes I can get for that kind of money? That’s like breakfast for a year.

In all seriousness, go look at your streamers. They’re losing hope in the game too. There’s nothing to stream except Silverwasting my life away, flax farming, and downed state RP. I’m not mad, Arena Net. I’m disappointed in you.

Resources Taken Up By Client

Hey roach!

I chose LA because it would be analogous to the amount of people encountered in the new HOT maps. I was scared that I would end up crashing if I did anything when I was really lagging in VB, so didn’t screenshot there. I get almost no lag in dungeons/fractals where there are far fewer people, obviously. I’ll try the suggested options, thanks a lot!

Looks like I’ll be in the market for a new CPU, then. Thanks again.

Hello everyone. I have a two part question concerning whether or not the resources the client takes up is reasonable and I am also looking advice as to what I should upgrade.

Since the launch of Heart of Thorns, I’ve been experiencing some extreme lag issues in the new maps, as well as crashes. I’ve heard crashes are common, but I wanted to address my lag issue. I get huge FPS drops and computer lag, likely due to the fact that there are a lot of people running around me trying to get events done. I looked up the resources taken up and saw that my memory and CPU were sitting at about 94% and 85% respectively when I was standing in Verdant Brink.

This was a screenshot taken in Lion’s arch:

This is after I closed the client, idling with miscellaneous stuff I have the background, it seems.

My PC Specs:
Processor: AMD Phenom II (Quad Core) 955 BE
GPU: Geforce GTX 560 TI
Memory: 4GB

The minimum settings to run the game require 2GB. I suppose if I play on medium settings, it actually is reasonable that the game takes up about 3 GB of memory? Should it also take up that much processing power? This computer is about 4-5 years old, so it would make sense for me to require an upgrade. I’m a college student, so I’m on a budget. Anything you guys would recommend?

Thanks

Concerning the Selling of Dungeon Paths

I’m sure similar discussions have risen surrounding this notion, but I’m not here to debate. Perhaps this is the wrong forum and if it is, I would appreciate it if I were directed to the correct place to post this, but I wanted to ask if lack of the distribution of gold at the end of a sold path falls under the category of scamming. Allow me to briefly explain:

I was pugging Arah Path 2 and when we had two drop outs near the end, the thief – the profession, which also happens to be the culprit – thought it was a good idea to sell the two paths. I had no qualms about it, but it was a pug group. Naturally, I’m not going to trust complete strangers. It’s common sense. I had a strong feeling he wouldn’t distribute the gold. When two spots were sold, we killed the last boss. Lo and behold, the thief is quick to leave the party and promptly logged off afterwards, but not faster than I could get his account name and add him to friend’s list.

There were three of us that had gone through the entire path and he kept all the gold from the sold slots. I’ll repeat that I wasn’t surprised and I got my 3 gold for completing the path, not that I’m dire need for more anyways. I figured there are plenty of risks when partaking in this kind of thing and doing so with a pug group is a huge risk. I was just curious if this kind of thing is actually punishable or rather, considered a scam?

Combat Suggestions (For RP)

So, for RP’ers out there, we know that combat RP can be difficult to play out. We’re all on an MMORPG where the game clearly tries to make us feel ‘mighty’ and ‘heroic.’ We get cool looking, unrealistic abilities and we have fun! That’s the point of the game, right? Fun. This isn’t bad, no, but when it comes to RP I prefer realism, with some limitation on magic of course. Regardless, RP combat is difficult in GW2. It could easily be solved with a simple dice command found in many other games, including GW1 I believe. A simple RNG could be coded into the game rather easily. I don’t have much experience with programming, but I’ve at least done that.

Alternative, of course, would be a dueling option that I’m sure Arena Net has been looking into with all the sPvP they have going on. Perhaps with both characters scaled up to Lv. 80 for the time of the duel, or a median of their two levels.

On a side note, I wish there was a way to toggle Norn elite skills rather than a terrible 30 second duration. Norn elites are, in my opinion, quite bad for combat. You can’t move whilst attacking, but some grant mobility skills. During RP, though, If I were to get into a fight as my norn, I’d like to RP the fight as a Bear Form! I know it could be a difficult mechanic to balance, but eh.. just a suggestion. Thanks!

Hai Jaded! I’ve been lurking around the forums here and ran into your post and checked out your own guild forums and whatnot. Hadn’t joined a guild and figured might as well do so now. I’m a casual gamer.. so yeah.
