Would the commander system be functional enough with more markers, guild only tags, less suppression, better supplyinfo, and possibly additional marker shapes?
I would take that, the more markers imo need to be in game world not just on map eg beams of light or something
A lot of awesome ideas here.
Here are some questions I’ve been wondering about.
How often do people actually join squads and use the features that are there? (4 different way point markers, /supplyinfo). What would make you join squads more?
How much is spies a problem with commander system?
Should the commander icon be shown above the commanders head to the commander?
Should we allow a WvW upgrade to see enemy commanders (not on the map just on screen) ?
In my opinion the markers need to be in world not just on the map like beams of light or something and Joining squad does not work all the time from the map which makes it hard to use the feature.
If the commander system allowed things like guild only viewing spies would not be an issue at all. Also with spies it is possible to have 50 tags up to confuse the enemy to

I think it would be better to allow an upgrade to keep / tower to alert all commanders on attack.

My suggestions are all focused around making my life as a commander easier. *Selfish i know
My guild runs mostly tag less these days because we have found all the tag does is bring pugs that in the end either die or make the strats harder to pull off. (unless they are on VoIP) So i would like tools to command the troops.
1: Guild only tag
– Been asked for many times so +1
2: No commander buff icon
– It would be nice to not have to run a tanky build being a commander
3: Markers in the world
– I would love to have a beam of light that i can place on the terrain as a point of where we are going to hit/meet/etc. This would also allow better use of flanking tactics as you have a clearly defined point of reference.
4: Squad management
– Some kind of squad management is important as the commander here because of the 5 camp combo field and party priority.
5: Party Leaders icon would be nice
– More of a blue sky request but thought i would ask anyway
6: Commander chat server wide
– To make it easier to work out who is going to respond / call for backup
7: Squad information
– Information on screen without commands would be nice for squad supply etc
8: Quick commands to chat
– I would love the ability to like Alt Click on a camp/tower etc and it say heading to X

Still on staff but I changed my spec and all my gear,. I moved to the Apothecary and Passiflora sets.
So without double checking my stats are base power and perc | 1670 t | 16k hp | 1200 cond dmg,1100 HP and spec of 0/0/20/30/20
As i play a support role i have found this perfect for my play style. – dots, combo fields, healing, stance dance
I play the support role in my group so that is what my combos are focused around.
Staff pve group combos:
The group I run with use a lot of combos but let me give you a few examples.
- Burst group dps: Ice Bow 5 (awesome utility btw) on boss with no stacks of def, then mes timewarp, fire 2 at our feet for the burning projectiles. If your team is low on health you can also use a water field here for regen.
- Mass group heal: Earth 2, water 3(or5), arcane wave, guardian hammer blast
- Group Stun: Air 5 behind targets – mes push back = mass aoe stun
- Asura one: earth 2, poison field utility = aoe weakness 50% less dmg
- Save team member: Earth 4 behind target, air 3, rez
- Save team member 2: Air 5 on top of player, rez
- Save team member 3: Earth 3 stand in los of projectiles, rez
- Save team member 4: Ice bow 5, rez
- Melee save: glyph of storms (sandstorm) on top of melee, earth 2, water 3(or5)
This game is awesome for allow you as the player to explore the combos together

Imo as long as there is a risk to reward for the spec then all is good.
EG not to have insane dmg and insane healing.

My gear is Carrion runed with undead then extra’s is currently knight.
This build for me has a lot of synergy in it which is key and I can be hit like a truck while still giving out good dmg. Also near unlimited dodge
