I was really hoping it would already be like this to be honest. Now it’s just another space-filler that I won’t know when to use.
Trinity = Forced routine
No Trinity = Skill-Based
Fixed.
I support the stance on trying an RPG without the holy trinity. There are so many MMOs that already do it and I would just go back to those if that’s the pace I wanted.
It’s almost certain that the holy trinity is the reason that so many MMOs have a dramatically low skill ceiling. For example, many team games challenge you to be responsible for your own safety while you contribute to a mutual goal. People will still be able to tell if you suck.
In most MMOs however, your only responsibility for looking after yourself involves periodically moving out of red circles/cones. And chucking all the blame onto a single person if that’s not enough.
It’s still very much possible for a team to work like clockwork and have routines in most games. Especially if you want to overachieve. But in most MMOs, you don’t do it because you gel well with other people, you do it because you’re forced to. And that will only just about cut it because your chance of success depends more on gear.
I personally am not a fan of gear checking. I’m generally confident in my ability to carry people who are less better off. However I can not not always say the same for my allies.
PvE in practically any MMO has never really needed an elite team and yet too many insist they have only the best whether that means waiting longer or calling a dungeon/raid/event off altogether.
It honestly annoys me to no end. Arguing the point also doesn’t tend to teach such idiots anything. It just makes them angry. It’s not as bad as how every MOBA player is a self-proclaimed expert, but it’s bad nontheless.
I think this would only be great for people who have attained some endgame-soulbound items that are difficult to replace. Otherwise I’d just make a new character.
A name change fee would be nice though.
You’ve got to remember that it goes a little past simply changing your appearance. It wouldn’t make sense for a lot of characters until after they’ve passed the race-specific part of their story. They would also be exchanging abilities that were only selectable in the end-steps of character creation. As an example, it would be unusual to see an asura using an ability that implies he/she is blessed by a human god.
A new sentient, mass-produced asuran golem – So many things to think about but it would surely be doable. I can dream. Give it numerous body-types to resemble other races and genders albeit with a metallic paint-job, give it a subtly-robotic voice-mask, make it share starting city with the asura. And so on.
Tengu – Especially if they introduced more eastern-looking weaponry. Anything resembling a katana would go well; big and small. I also like the idea of a creating a ranger from this race.
Rabbits – Only one class. Suicide bomber. Can only equip semtex, dynamite or a directional claymore mine. Can also use itself as a cooking ingredient. But no seriously I don’t currently have any passion for the other races. I wouldn’t quite be ecstatic over the Kodan, Hylek or any other potential fan-favourites.
It’s a luck-based method of slowing players down. I hate it too. But hey, if it wasn’t for that they would’ve just upped the price for a single currency anyway.
Really now.
-Type “/s lfg” at the dungeon entrance.
-Accept the invite.
-Run into the dungeon and carelessly rip through the objectives.
-Get your rewards.
It’s an extremely easy dungeon that takes 10 minutes with the average joes. You don’t even have to converse with them.
If Anet wanted to push you into another easy but needlessly long challenge, they would’ve slipped in a reward for doing it solo. But they didn’t. I’m all for taking on extra challenge for challenge-sake, but I fully understand that the fault is on my part if I’m taking the unintended approach.
Aside from boarding the airship, practically everything else will reward you for solo-efforts. The ensemble, the jump puzzle, the masses of presents scattered in PvE/WvW areas. Even the team snowball fights if you consider randoming to be solo.
Should be enough to juggle unless you want to be distracted from the vanilla content entirely.
I disagree for the most part. I mean there are plenty of guild leaders who think too highly of their own abilities because they spam guild invites and prod for donations, they can go to hell.
But the bar for reaching commander is set reasonably high. High enough that many people who claim commander status will likely have a well-rounded degree of competence, dedication, as well as some proven ability to learn (and be relatively fast in this MMOs early stages).
I personally felt I already had a great grasp on WvW before I gathered most of my money. And I played much more since, but that’s just me.
100g is a lot for the more passive-minded players to blow. Same goes for trolls.
I feel the game could do with more body dimensions in general. Should be more from obese to body-builder. At least for every race except the male Humans and Norns. I don’t think people would mind a FEW hambeast waddling around… would they?
They should have some scaling which is determined at the start of each matchup. They need to hit a sweet spot where each worlds forces are always equal (and therefore hit capacity at peak times) but not so much that the queues last any measurements of time that exceeds half an hour.
4 is already fine for most servers, maybe even too much for the smallest ones. However High/Full servers feel like they could fit in an entire extra map.
Of course they should not only scale the number of maps to server population, but the reward required to attain the related WvW bonuses. We can’t give the low pop servers more reason to drain now can we?
If all else fails they could even scale the amount of maps to the hour of the day. Closing and disabling all points in Eternal Battlegrounds during the 6 most off-peak hours or adding a second neutral area like EB at the 6 most peak hours.
This would resolve things like guilds staying up until ridiculous o’clock for cheap, uncontested captures. Or the fact that the French-speaking EU servers are largely buffed up by French-speaking Canadians while everyone else is sleeping.
