Is, or has there not been any word on this from Anet?
It would be nice to get some sort of response to this, as (In my opinion) this is a fairly huge “Polish” flaw.
At the very least Rangers should be able to set a name, and permanently save it to the Pet Slots. I.E.,
Pet Slot 1: Jake
Pet Slot 2: Spot
Yes this is a huge problem. I can only imagine the Pain your Moderators are going through. As all the duplicate threads are popping up everywhere, because one could not search for “Title Only”, which seems to be the main problem I’m having. I just tried to do a search for “Final Rest” and got only 1 return related to the staff, all the other returns were related to the word “Final”, and not just in the title, through out the whole thread. This leaves a lot to be desired from a search function.
Please fix?
Thanks.
(Brief cliff note that can be deleted if need be):
I did a search, and was surprised that there was not a topic named UI Lag. I named mine ui lag because I did not know if the search function is case sensitive or not. I did a search for this, and it was hit and miss. I feel that there needs to be a thread devoted to “UI Lag” solely. It is a problem all of it’s own.
How this effects me personally:
While trying to navigate my character throughout the game, I used methods such as W,S,A,D, and Hold down right mouse click to control “Camera Look” direction, with which to control the direction my character is going.
Problem:
Lose, the right mouse click (Right mouse click comes “Un-Clicked”). Resulting in you having to “Re-Click” the Right Mouse Click to continue navigating your character.
Some trouble shooting information:
At, first I could not pin point what excatly was the problem (been playing the game for about 4-5 months now.), I believed it might well be my mouse that is the problem, (And, it may yet be some of the problem still). However, Today I noticed that I could not move, after completing a heart quest that leveled me up at the same time.
Coincidentally enough, I was also trying to move my character with the standard W,S,A,D+Right Click Hold method. When I noticed something. The mouse cursor popped up just briefly then all of the sudden my character was unable to move. By this I mean, I could not roll, walk in any direction, it was as if my feet had fallen through an invisible wall in the map, and rooted my character to the ground right there on a (What appeared to be) a very flat unobstructed terrain. It was then that it hit me. The UI Lagged out, and froze up. I thought well I bet it’s my N52 game pad software, messing up. Popped up to the main keyboard, still nothing.
Now, how it seems to be effecting other people:
Classes that use ground targeting predominantly, such as Necro’s for instance. Seem to be having a harder time with this. As they are very dependent on being able to see where their cursor is. I have noticed that in very populated battles be it PvP, or PvE. That some times the cursor will just disappear completely for a few seconds, and you have to scurry your mouse about on the pad fanatically trying to get it back. This my friends is certainly UI Lag.
Problem:
Can’t See Cursor. (Cursor goes invisible)
Other thoughts:
I did see this mentioned in other a few other threads, and if there is some merging to be done, there should be a thread named ui lag/UI Lag as this is what the “Core” problem is what I believe to be.
I have seen other games deal with the cursor problem (Somewhat) by adding options in the game for the player to customize their cursor, to be what they feel would be the most visible to them.
I am also noticing just now, that there is no option in the “Options”, to control the Mouse Speed, as I have seen in so many other games. Is there a mouse speed accelerator in the games UI, or in the games other mechanics? If so, there needs to be a mouse speed control. Plus, the customization of the mouse cursor might help the disappearing act of the mouse some, but that is still really just a band-aide.
I’m not sure of what else can be done to fix this, as I’m not a programmer. I’m just a consumer, and reporting what the problem is. Hope this helps.

I agree with this. This is the case in all PvP based games, with some sort of small/short/tiny character model. I think it is a little unfair to make other people suffer this just because some people think it’s cute. If Arena Net Prides it self on having a “Level Playing Field” across the board. Something should be done to address this issue in PvP at least. Doing nothing to address this issue is, in my view, a display of favoritism towards “Tiny” character models for PvP advantage. Which makes all other attempts for Level Playing Field for naught.

At the begining of this dungeon/fractal/mission. Where you have to kill the Krait to free the hostages.
The problem is: That the Krait swim up through the roof/rocks/ceiling. Making them unable to hit. Worse yet, if they have dots on them, they swim up there and die, and you can’t loot them. This is a problem cause that might have been the Vial of Condensed Mists Essence you need.
I suppose that NPC’s should have “Zone Walls” too. Or, something?
I would even settle for one name that was assigned to all my pets.
This would work, this could easily be done I would think.
Something simple that would make a lot of Rangers Happier. Not too much to ask I don’t think.
Just to update.
I fixed my problem, where I could not hear my own character’s voice overs. I had my headset plugged into my Logitech speaker system’s main control. I took it out and plugged it into my front headset jack in my PC and it fixed the problem that I was having.
I think that the option to “Gift” things to people would be nice. Namely Fluff Items that can be bought from the Gem Shop.
For whatever reason, I think it would increase sales that much more.
In my case I’d like to buy a Quaggan Back Pack and gift it to my buddy as a practical joke.
No matter who spends the money, the money still gets spent, and everyone is that much happier right?
Or no?
What is all the complaining about? I think it adds flavor.
Well I mean the same was an issue in EQ2, the voice acting tended to get on peoples nerves after the first time they heard it. But. whatever, I still liked it. It’s called Flavor.
And more would be good, but not need to have less.
Okay, well I don’t know if this is covered in the forums anywhere, I tried to do a search for it, but all I get is the normal sound stopping altogether. I’ve had this happen once or twice. Not really a big deal, I think it was because I alt-tab’d out and back in that caused it. Maybe a ventrilo thing or not.
But the main problem I wanted to discuss is the fact that I don’t hear the voice overs of my character while playing. I’ve watched a few walk through videos on how to get some vistas, POI’s, and I can hear there character talking, when they activate skills, are they are about to die. Why does my character not talk? I hear other characters say stuff around me too, but I can hear anything my character says.
This really should be fixed. I am a Ranger, and I would like to name my pets. It is probably not a big deal for other people, but It is a huge frustration to me.
