So I’ve been playing GW2 since it’s release. Due to Uni and work commitments, I’ve only logged a paltry 200 or so hours. But my problem is this. I’m getting bored, I’ve been running a guardian for almost the entire time, and as you know GS + Sceptor/Staff, is one of the better options (I have tried hammer, hated it).. I’ve been pulling off the GS combo, countless times, and I really want more variety.
Note: In the following I refer to the great sword, but there is no reason it should be limited to just that
I would like to see different versions of great swords, maybe just different stances such as defensive, offensive, hybrid etc.. you get the idea. Something to break up the repetition.
I can predict a few devil’s advocates.. Some will say No Great Sword is balanced, no change needed. Balanced maybe, but that’s not my complaint.
Others will say roll a new character.. I don’t want to, I shouldn’t have to. there shouldn’t be a class that is more boring to play than the others.
Other options include New virtues, or new slot skills beyond the paltry number that we have available (For all classes, not just guardian). More choice. The party line that the developers pushed was that you can play guildwars your way.. Well I want a tanky support that does more than bloody fire damage.
This would be a big update, hell I wouldn’t mind if it was in the expansion. It would go a long way to convincing me to buy it if I knew it wasn’t going to just be another 100 or so hours of the exact same gameplay.
Please ArenaNet.. Please introduce some change
Eugh, you’re probably right. And I really am guessing about my latency, lately it has been 1-2 seconds. I’ll try going more vitality. Currently running knights (rare) with major dolyak and major warrior runes to get toughness amd vitality. With emerald / sapphire jewellery (exotic) .. I do know that with one attack the thief hit for 6800.
So the other day I had a memory lapse and decided I’d give WvW a try to do some exploring and map completion This lasted for about 5 minutes, there was a Gross imbalance in the number of Enemies (are we from different Time Zones? how is that possible) vs players on my team (We were outnumbered 8:2 or so). Also the server was populated heavily with the delightful theif Class, who run away in perma stealth the moment an attempt at engagement is made. I decided to ignore combat and farm some mobs in the hope of a little loot. While I was on half health i noticed I died suddenly. Upon looking around I noticed that a stealthed thief was running around. Part of the problem lies on my end, having the Audacity to want to play from Australia, so there is usually a 100-200ms Lag (making PvP) almost impossible. The other problem is this. How can a guardian, with over 3000 toughness and over 2000 armour, be taken down in 3-4 hits (fast enough that i died without seeing my opponent) from a kittening thief with a dagger.. What’s the point of toughness and heavy armour, if they don’t make me tough, and break like biscuits every time someone sneezes on them? Dungeons are just as bad with mobs doing 15k damage over 3 seconds in melee range (which thanks to Lag gives me 0.5-1 second to react before death).
I’m supposed to be a tank/support , as I see no other point of the guardian class. I can’t deal a lot of damage (RELATIVELY) but I should be able to take a lot
I feel like I’m rambling soo…..
TL;DR
-Ingame Burst PvE/ PvP.. Is too kittening high and fast to be able to mitigate / heal through
-Toughness / Armour Means kitten All
-Perma stealth thief is bullkitten
Hi,
So I’ll be quick here because you’re busy. I think it would be a really good idea to have on the website a really good explanation of diminishing returns and how normal players can avoid triggering it. I tried searching on the internet but most of the information is outdated and/or Vague. I’d really like to know how I can not trigger it, as my wife and I have been casually farming cursed shore with 30-40% magic find. and have been getting lumps of cabbage in return, almost never T6 mats. I don’t want to waste our time, also you might want to check drop rates in dungeons such as story mode gates of arah. I got more loot drops in 10 minutes of doing 2 events in Straits of Devastation than i did in the entire story mode Arah Dungeon, the reward was terrible for the time it took to do it
So i’m just getting into GW 2. As a lot of you are. I’m loving it, the crafting, the exploring, the story. It’s great..
I had a philosophical moment today thinking about the sustainability of the game. I would love, if this could topple WoW, but the fact is, without a subscription they won’t have the funding to keep updates at a similar pace as Blizzard who seem to have infinity moneys.
My question is this.
Would you pay for minor content updates, be it end game dungeons, quest lines etc?
Would you want to keep the game living on. Or do you plan to wipe you’re hands once you’ve finished a few story lines?
