Replayability of end game PvE content

An issue I feel that needs to be addressed is the longevity of PvE content (specifically dungeons) in this game. At the moment, once you finish all the paths and your armor set, there isn’t much else to do. If we exclude tokens from the rewards of completing a dungeon, you get maybe 50-70s worth of drops and that’s it. Chests feel extremely lackluster considering the loot ends up as vendor trash anyway. Simply put, there’s no reason to do bosses like GL when significantly easier bosses like the Champion troll in HoTW gives the same reward.

Suggestions:

- Increase the chances of rares/exotics the deeper you get into an explorable
- “Hardmode” achievements: Implement handicaps in explorables for titles/rewards Eg. Something like the Undying in WoW, or Herald of the Titans
- More uses for dungeon tokens, exotic crafting or something

What do you guys think? I understand that a lot of players will not experience what I’m talking about but I still think it’s a valid concern and would love to hear your input on this matter.

They need to make dodging lessons mandatory. Seriously, plenty of people have done Giganticus just fine. If you stopped trying to blame the boss mechanics and looked at your own play, you’d see there’s plenty you can improve on. I mean, how do you even get knocked down on p3? There’s a big circle surrounding him and it’s probably the longest ability channel in the game. Learn how to dodge efficiently and you will have no trouble with this boss guaranteed.

There’s no incentive to do it. You got 60 tokens and crappy vendor loot. You can get that from anywhere without the heartache of trying to pug it. It’s just not worth it to be honest.

Yeah I dunno, I’ve never had it happen that smoothly either. I reckon the sparks are pretty buggy and they’ll probably look at fixing it. It might be too tough with a PUG. Maybe consider respecing for that fight? It’s not like there’s any damage outside of the sparks/aoe circles. I went complete glass cannon for it and didn’t have much troubles staying up.

True, but I can’t reset my trait lines inside a dungeon. I’m spec’d 10 in Fire and 10 in Air (other points in Earth, Water, Arcane). For the rest I can switch to dual daggers and bring Fiery Greatsword elite, that’s about it for me.
Hopefully an ArenaNet dev could shed some light on this. At least tell us if it’s 100% working as intended, or if it’s bugged and going to get a fix. I don’t mind tough content, but I do mind buggy content.

You can zone out and respec. You just need 1 person inside to retain the lockout.

We did have people assigned to different sparks to gather, but I guess we didn’t notice the blue thing in her status bar, and no idea why that would be the only indicator to know when she’s going to vanish, because it seems to go against ArenaNet’s way of designing the game (less looking at UI elements). So maybe add a voice clip or an extra animation instead of a small blue square icon in her status bar.

Although even with our team being not as fast, it doesn’t explain why sparks wouldn’t disappear as easily as they did in that video. If they were dealt with that easily we wouldn’t have trouble beating her either, just taken a little longer. For us there’d always be 1 spark just floating around the statue, following one of our team, while the boss regen’d back.

I don’t know about our team’s DPS, cause I was running a PUG. As for myself, I run a balanced Elementalist build, so purely DPS-wise I’m not all that great.

@40s, the boss gains this blue icon on her buff/debuff bar which is an indicator of when you need to run to get the sparks. Make sure you have people assigned to each spark location. It’s possible to get someone with a ranged weapon to shoot, aggro and run back. Have someone ready with a tear in case the group gets frozen while grabbing the sparks. The sparks can be a bit buggy sometimes but just try to make sure you’re running it through all the positions. Other than that, dps hard. You need to meet a certain dps requirement to be able to complete it tbh.

Melee is fine. There are a couple bosses where you’re better off hitting from range (Ooze boss in Arah) but most are pretty forgiving and give obvious tells for when they’re about to do something. The dungeons at the moment are extremely knowledge based. You need to know when it’s safe to melee and when you have to dodge/move out. My advice would be to always reposition yourself around the boss and don’t waste your dodges on silly stuff like auto attacks. If you have aggro, you will die just standing there regardless of your traits/gear.

Just beat her too, such a joke boss. The sparks are buggy as hell and 1 person can get it delayed like crazy. She has a blue buff icon that comes up just before she disappears so you can use it as an indicator for when you need to go get the sparks. Just swap to a ranged weap and you can leash them pretty easily. Then the boss after that.. lol. You can’t even call it a boss. Dungeon Master is finished though so good enough.

Explorable Jotun path bug

kitten this. This is the 3rd time in 2 days Arah has bugged out. Path 4, Giganticus wouldn’t even activate. What the kitten, I didn’t sign up for a beta test. This has seriously put me off playing the game. I’ve wasted 7+ hours not including the time taken to put together a group. The worst bit? Anet will probably do nothing about this.

We killed all 5 bosses but the door wouldn’t open into the observatory. We literally finished the dungeon and the only thing that was left was a cut scene. Is there any chance to appeal this? I wasted a good 2 hours trying to finikitten and now I have nothing to show for it. This would be the same thing as getting kicked from a party at the very end right?
