First, sorry for my english.
After 16 months of game, I will try to play more often in WvWvW. Engineer is my main, and I created at least 8-9 final build for my character. I’m used a WvW-build from 2-3 months, but is a support build with very low damage. Now I want try a build for roaming in solo or small group (3-5 players).
But… there’s a “but”.
I’m really, really boring of some mechanic of our profession, that “impose” to use some skill/trait for have an efficient build. Particulary, I refer to weapon kits. Bomb kit, grenade kit, tools kit… all useful, but I want something of different. With all the risks involved.
I created a build based on the rifle and Gadgets (yes, gadgets). There are 2 version (same trait, different equip), first more balanced (closer to my “style of play”) and second more based of damage (direct damage).
I’m not sure that it can be effective, I have heavy doubts. Suggestions on my idea is very appreciated.

Power: ~ 3350 – 3400
Critical Chance: ~ 45% (65% with fury)
Critical Damage: 45% – 89%
Armor: ~ 2700 – 2450
Health: ~ 19.500 – 16.000
2 Break Stun, 2 Blowout, 1 Knockdown, only 3 Blast (without fire field, but you can swith for a second a skill with Bomb-kit, gain the Fire Field and a fourth blast).
Four skill of “movement” (Overcharged shot, Jump shot, Rocket boots, Super speed).
Alternatively, you can change Firearms VI (Hair trigger) with Firearms II (Sitting duck) for 15 stack immediate of vulnerability.
What do you think of this “crazy” idea?

Well, my error. Now I read more on the skill. From the Wiki:
Orb of Light takes four times longer to recharge if detonated.
In my build, Orb of Light recharge every 2,5 second. If you detonate the Orb, recast the skill 10 seconds (for 1200 of healing AoE).

I’m playing a Guardian from few days, but I’m already studying some build for the future (at the moment, my little Guardian Asura is at level 27). For delight, I’m trying to costruct a build full-damage with greatsword and staff. This is mi result:
Yes, it’s not based on Critical Damage, but on high level of Power and Might. This is the main statistics:
Power: 2300
Attack: 3400
Armor: 2885
Might dutation: +65%
The used is simple: combat starting with staff, cast Empower (Staff 4), then switch on Greatsword and use primary Strike -> Vengeful Strike -> Wrathful Strike.
Your might is always at least of 15 (+525 Power, for a total of 2825 – Attack 3925 without the Superior Sigil of bloodlust) but normally is 16-17-18 with the skill 1 of the Greatsword; Empower recharge in 16 seconds for 16 1/2 second of Might.
With the Virtues’s Trait, I’m used “Master of Consecrations” for strengthen the relative skills: Purging Flames and Hallowed Ground. Purging Flames is most important because inflict burning on the enemy, that grants more damage in sinergy with Fiery Wrath (Zeal, II). For the same reason, I’m used Supreme Justice (Virtues, VIII).
The build remove Condition with the combo.
Symbol of Wrath (GS 4) and Symbol of Swiftness (Staff 3) grants you Combo field: Light; Whirling Wrath (GS 2) and Blinding Blade (GW 5) grans you Combo field: Whirling. That combination made a Cleasing Bolts.
You have already 2 Combo Field: Fire (Purging Flame and Hallowed Ground); with the Combo field: Whirling made a Burning Bolts.
The Staff is primary for the healing: Orb of Light healing 1200 every 10 seconds, and Empower healing 1700; the GW instead heal you on every attack (with Zealous Blade). The Symbol of both weapon can inflict heavy damage, and the build grants you 10 second (every 12) of switfness with Symbol of Switfness (Staff 3).
The equip is finalized for maximize the Power and the defence: I’m used Soldier equip, except for the armor (Knight, for an higher valor of Toughness). I’m used 3 rune of Strenght and 3 rune of Hoelbrak for maximize Power and Might duration.
For a setup more defensive, you can change the Bane Signet with Signet of Judgment.

This is my “alternative” version for a build with Elixir-Gun/Flamethrower (PvE):
Attack: 3068 (3668 with Might at 10 and 250 Power from Sigil of Bloodlust)
Critical Chance: +51% (71% with Fury), Critical Damage: +57%
2 Combo Field Water (Healing turret & Regenerating Mist) + 1 Combo Field Light (Super-Elixir from EG)
Total Healing: ~10500 + Cures 3 Condition at AoE every 20 seconds (without Combo)
10 stacks of Vulnerability for 8 seconds every 30
2 Combo Finisher: Blast (Detonate Healing Turret & Acid Bomb from EG)
You can use “Rocket boots” instead “Utility goggles” for a third Combo Finisher: Blast
Armor: 2556 with Flamethrower, Health 18082
