I am really confused about the core specializations.
My ranger is level 49. Prior to this update/patch, I was only allowed to select a couple of points in a tree. I chose Beast Mastery.
With the update, Skirmishing is the unlocked specialization. I have no desire WHATSOEVER to level up using that specialization. I had planned to put points into BM, WS, & NM for leveling. I can only use 3 specializations, which means that one of them HAS to remain Skirmishing, correct?
Since there is no way to get rid of Skirmishing and use the other 3 while I level, do I need to use the experience boosters I had saved in my bank to get to 80 so I can choose which specializations I want? (My other option being to delete the character & re-roll?)
And if I do xp boost to 80 will I be able to get rid of Skirmishing and activate the 3 specializations I prefer? In other words are all 5 Specialization lines available at 80 and can we choose which ones we want active?
Although I created this ranger on the first day of GW2 release, she is still my highest level character. This was to have been my first time getting to level 80. I had been taking my time & exploring/enjoying everything along the way. I hate to lose the “first time” feel of exploring all the zones, but I see no other way to get rid of Skirmishing at this point.
If I delete my character & re-roll one with the same name etc, I can start over & pick my own traits? I created her the first day of early release in 2012, so I will lose birthdays & such
I was unable to play a lot until this spring although I was in the original beta, so I never got to 80. I purposely stopped leveling her at 49 once I realized the personal story would be fixed in the patch. I was so looking forward to picking my trait lines & leveling to 80 for the first time ever.
She is a ranger. I only put a couple of points in BM, planning to go with BM, NM & WS. With the patch, ALL of Skirmishing has been auto-filled. So I can’t go BM/NM/WS any more to level right?
I just want to cry.
I had this issue as well. I whispered someone & could not clear their name afterwards. I logged out & back in because I could not figure out how to fix it.
So we type /m, and hit space to remove?
Thank you very much!
I am already leveling a Ranger & a Guardian, so hopefully Druid is an option down the road for the Ranger.
:)
I was here for Pre-order, beta, and a few months of play after release. Then my life kind of turned upside down, (started a business, moved, spent a year & 1/2 remodeling the house I bought, etc.) and I didn’t play online at all for a long while. Now that things have settled, I am attempting to re-enter GW2 and play again.
A lot has changed. My most pressing questions deal with the Living Story & the Feature Packs. (And Druids)
1) Do the Feature Packs need to be purchased? Research suggests there were 2; one in April 2014, & one in Sept. 2014. I have no issue purchasing things to catch up, but it is not clear if these are just part of the game now, or if I need to buy them.
2) Living Story: what is the benefit of purchasing the chapters? Do we get to play through that content with our characters if we buy them? I understand that each chapter bought is unlocked for all current & future characters. Is it worth buying them, and should I wait for level 80 before I do get them?
3) I have been seeing a little information here & there about Druids. Are Druids in the game as playable characters? It appears that I may need to be a Ranger to be a Druid, but again, I can’t find good information. Some of my characters are Rangers, so I am very fascinated by this. (Maybe Druids are coming in HOT?).
I will be purchasing HOT when it is available. I love the beautiful world & playstyle of GW2. It is a little hard to catch up though. I have found some good sites for crafting, gearing, & build direction and will be using those. The 3 questions above were not so easily answered, hence this post.
Thank you so much for any info or advice on those 3 questions!
Well, at least this answers my question, lol.
Have to say I LIKED finding pets at early levels! I should have done more charming early on!
I have not been able to find any concise information regarding the new pet locations, so I figure it is just best to level up and try to find them as I go into new areas.
The interactive map still seems to be in development and does not work. I have sifted through a lot of guides today without finding what I was looking for. Time to go explore!
Happy hunting & thanks for the replies.
Thank you for the response. I had gotten pretty frustrated, but the pet location guides I was looking at were probably old.
They suggest the starting areas for the juvenile raven, black bear, hyena etc.
I will do some more research. Thank you SO much!
I have started playing GW2 again on a regular basis, and am trying to level my Rangers. I decided to charm some new pets.
I have a level 15 Norn Ranger with 5 pets from around GW2 launch (2 bears, 1 drake, 1 hound, and 1 snow leopard). I can stand right next to a Juvenile Raven in Wayfarer Hills, and no matter what buttons I push, or how many times I click the Juvenile Raven, no “Charm” dialog pops up. I tried Lashtail Devourers & Black Bears outside Black Citadel with the same result. No “Charm” option.
I tried “stowing” my current pet, but I cannot seem to empty any of the 4 slots in pet management no matter what I do. What am I doing wrong??? (I have a level 8 Charr ranger as well… no “Charm” option for that character either. The Charr only has the one leopard from character creation, so 3 slots are empty.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
