Same problem for me. Joined someone else for first part of the story. (where you go look at the downed airships and meet somebody special. )
After successful completion I got dumped back in the silverwastes with no way to access the maguuma jungle.
I was the one joining the other player. He got dropped into the jungle after the mission without problem.
