Not sure what the minimum requirements are going to be upon release but my guess would be, yes you’ll have trouble running it. If I were you I would stick with running it in bootcamp.

Side note.. You should consider getting more ram. A 4gb stick wouldn’t cost you more than 20 bucks.

The lag you get when you first boot up a game is probably due to your hard drive. Upgrading to a solid state hard drive would eliminate that.

I agree, Antitheist. My expectations have been far exceeded.

Really the only huge performance drop I’ve seen is when fog appears in graveyards at night. Turning shadows(I believe) to low fixed this.

Right on. Let us know how it runs. I’m sure prospective players would like to know peoples experience with macs of various specs.

It should run fine. Your specs are better than mine, besides the SSD. Still not sure how much of an impact that makes..

True, I’m having trouble finding huge battles in WvW right now to determine my FPS. My server is dominating too hard.

If you can afford it and you’re looking to play these type of games the GPU is usually going to be the bottleneck. You’re going to want to get the best one you can.

GW2 is running well on my mid 2010 iMac under OSX 10.8.2. I’m getting mid 38+/- FPS on medium settings. Low 24+/- on high settings. I have upgraded my HD to SSD and my ram to 12gb so I’m wondering how much of a difference that is making.

I’m posting this because I was reluctant to buy the game due to reports of bad performance. I even went ahead and made a windows 7 partition because I thought I wouldn’t be able to run the game. Glad to see its running well for me under OS X!
