Hello, my first day in gw2 was chosen as a ranger and I’ve been pretty happy. Enjoying the large range that usually gained me a huge advantage over other enemies and allies.

Though over time and update after update, I slowly lost interest in my ranger. I started doing dungeons and as the updates came out… I started noticing my already somewhat low dps effectiveness (back when the glass canon was considered full dps) being drained even more. I used to be able to command my pet constantly and be able to keep almost 90% up time but now even with almost undivided attention I can only manage a 60-75% as they almost always die in one hit.

After this update I’ve given up, after being rejected constantly in dungeons. My lack of damage on the pet and ranger fronts, even with good gear! I’ve played my ranger in hundreds of different builds but never fully getting the same as others in any way shape or form! (dps, heals, etc.)

If this class wants to stay alive, Anet please…
1. Either ditch the pet or the AI. Seriously give us the option to get rid of the pet or keep the broken sack of stuffing. The pet does not work, is not effective. Even in builds that made my pet the god he would still run up to my enemy, get caught on a rock, glitch out AND DIE. Most pets just need a good love tap to die. (as they can dodge with the same skill set as a bolder under A LARGER BOLDER.)

2. Give us buffs not nerfs, or just recreate most of our skills. Heck I’d rather you just recreate the whole class than keep this and have you “tweak” it like everything else. Non of us want a spirit powered ranger, because apparently the guardian has three basic skills that basically do the same thing AND MORE.

3. The ranged class, SHOULD BE AN EFFECTIVE RANGED CLASS! I remember you guys saying that melee would always be stronger, which I don’t understand as the melee brutes have ARMOR, the trade off with range is that we DON’T have ARMOR for that type of throat cutting action. Sure we have the sword and great-sword but why would we grab a class called the RANGER for a dagger, sword and great-sword. The ranger should be the class with the hard hitting power of RANGED weapons. The fact that all of the other classes can beat our dps out of the water and some even beating our range makes us nothing less of useless. Who would pick a ranger knowing the ‘range’ in ranger is like buying an alcoholic drink without the alcohol.

4. Closing.
The dust on my ranger is no less than feet high. He is-was my favorite character, the one I was attached to and loved but my love has since died like the longbow arrows on a nearby target. (when range doesn’t bother the other classes with longbows damage, ahem* warriors…) I don’t have any interest left for this class, I’ve rolled a warrior, a thief and have since left my ranger in the dust. Transferred his items to a thief who can actually use them, the only thing that stops me from deleting the thing that got me playing this game is the hope you might bring it back. I had all the hope in the world when this patch was coming but have since lost it. Maybe next patch?

I know other rangers feel the same and this was nothing short of a basic post, some may even call it stupid and we will have those. “oh you should be happy!” But I’m sure even with those happy using the ever shortening ‘effective’ build list will soon see that the ranger class was something nice, only to be ruined.

Hope you guys at Anet wake up and give the rangers something… SOMETHING…

Hallowed ground of lost world. We took the temples, hosted by Risen priests of fallen gods, used the searing cauldron that burned Ascalon to ashes. We have fought hard against Zhaitan, it should have only got harder as we got closer, that is what really disappoints us.

Two dragons are coming our way. Let Jormag freeze Tyria over, let us chip our way through ice and monster for that final epic battle against Jormag. Bring Primordus next, we will go through enemy and hell itself to take back the underworld. We have so many chances for battles that can only enrich this game beyond any other. Let us take advantage of that! I have faith in you guys Arean net bring us the dragons! We will bring Death to them!

turrets, the players on turrets are stopping the tide, by killing Zhaitan’s wings. Turrets will be working constantly as Zhaitan flies in and out of range on various sides of the ship, after time he gets close he drops armies of undead or a few champions that the ground team then has to work on. Burn or be burned, once Zhaitan’s wings are shot we can see the fatally wounded dragon glide off roaring in both anger and agony. But we aren’t done, Zhaitan will crash land onto the ship, using everything he has to hold on.

Zhaitan will crashing into the ship and take all those heads and start latching onto the ship. Players must kill each head, each of the heads will detach and attack the players when they are engaged, one at a time. Once the heads are down we attack Zhaitan as he unleashes all he can to stop a fatal fall. Undead come in waves, players take them, then damage Zhaitans head as much as they can before the next wave. Every chunk of health pushes Zhaitan a bit further off the ship but it spawns more undead. When Zhaitan finally falls he falls onto the huge pillar and becomes impaled. The ship lowers and we finally finish off Zhaitan with the canons, the elder dragon is finally dead.

Simple things like these make it more enjoyable, I know gw2 is more casual, but a hard boss (especially elder dragons) should be the hardest thing ever. Contrary to popular belief, a nearly impossible boss makes some of the best in the game. Zhaitan could be two different fights, the one we have now just for story, and one similar to my suggested fight above. Primordias and Jormag are next on the slates of slaughter, Tyria is ready, for a real fight. I love the lore to this game and everything in it, but lets bump up and beef up these monsters, these dragons aren’t side liners they are the story pushers. Let’s make them like that. I’ve only been disappointed once and this was it, but I know you guys at arena net got this. Think out side the box for these fights!

Push us closer to the dragons, lets see the scales, let us feel fear. Zhaitan wasn’t a push over, but he ended up dying like one. That isn’t the way to go, albeit he was the smallest and maybe not the toughest. He could have died in such a way that we as gamers, could pop our knuckles from over use and say: “Oh god he is finally dead… that was… that was amazing.”

Trust me when I say this, you give us the challenge we will come to meet it. Gamers, not matter how casual, crave challenge and the pay off that follows. Issue the the other dragons, make their fights a living hell. Players will travel through it, eventually beat it and love it. We fought constantly to get to Zhaitan, waves of undead fell to our feet, (some exploded, burned, shot, eaten, etc) we traversed

Hello Guild wars 2 Community, I just defeated Zhaitan!
However, I was of course disappointing with the fight and from my party everyone was as well. I know the Elder dragons from the world and the discussions from the Npc’s and the story. After seeing the dragon basically get pistol whipped by one ship and then dumped into the fog toilet I thought I’d make this post.

Some simple changes would have made the ever enduring fight against Zhaitan enjoyable. The first part of Zhaitan’s fights leading up to the macho dragon himself is good, clean fun. The undead are the usual flock we fight constantly, the dragons swarming our ship are good fun for the cannons but the big boss is just a simple hit and run.

Zhaitan flies in after a nearly constant battle for ground and all things afterward seem to be a walk in the park. To me, the big boss should be like the Alamo, you have to fight to win, fight to take control. The huge monster mass of dragons just seems to fly by without a care, though we all know this monstrosity knows this ship can take him out. So why would such an intelligent creature just push off undead onto a ship he knows can kill him? Now I can push off the first part of the fight with the undead and the Asura pumping the death canon to shoot Zhaitan. That is reasonable but everything afterward… let’s continue.

Ok so Zhaitan gets his tail shot off by the canon, at this point the dragon attacks the canon but not the ship itself. Zhaitan should be attacking at this point, full on landing/grabbing the ship and just wrecking havoc. When this happens players should hop onto canons and take out his hands and anything holding onto the ship. The shield mechanic of the turrets has been in place throughout the fights so why take them out? Put them back in for the final turrets and adjust the ability to block Zhaitan’s lack of dental floss. This keeps players in the grove while giving the fight flavor.

After players burn off his hands with some good old flaming moisturizer lazers, we watch Zhaitan fly off and send champion. Players engage these champions as they land on the deck, slowly killing them as they try to take out the turrets. While we see Zhaitan flying around unleashing undead around the ship, this begins a kill or be killed stage that gives the fight more pressure. When all the champions have been mopped up, the undead will keep dropping onto ship. Players must split into two groups, turrets and the players defending the turrets. This stage is all about killing or being killed.

A clearly mortal wounded Zhaitan bleeds as he drops constant barrages of undead as a last ditch. Players on the ground must work with the npc’s to kill as many undead as possible as they assault players on
