I get your point, it is abuse, but rank has always been meaning less. Its hard to trivialize it any further. For so long hotjoin farmers were out ranking top tournament teams that played more games in a day. Anet has boosted tourny glory bonuses but it still leaves rank as meaningless. It’s just a boundary of time that gets in the way of fancy armor. People will try acquire it as fast as possible with little regard to designers intent. Anet must have seen this coming when they decided to not make rank (at some number) dependent on skill based achievements or ratings.

These are very good points, I just found it odd that this sort of thing wasn’t clamped down on but maybe it can’t be given the current implementation of the arenas.

Okay so, for those of you who aren’t aware the past while I’ve started to see users who were granted custom arena privileges set their servers up to be rank/glory farm servers. They have done this by setting the spawn timer to the lowest value possible, forcing everyone to be armorless/wearing a zerker amulet and finally by resetting the match before the 15 minutes is up as soon as enough people on the server have hit the 300 rank cap for the match.

Is this kind of behaviour not considered abuse? This is purposely defeating the rank dampening mechanic of capping gains at 300 per match which was put in place by ANet. This completely trivializes any other method of gaining rank / glory in sPvP (which already has fairly lackluster rewards). Could a dev please comment on this, I’m seriously confused how this is acceptable.
