Level 80 and finally getting some exotic gear. Unfortunately, many of them come already Runed, and not with my ideal Rune set. How do I re-Rune these to be able to get a 6/6 bonus?
Crafting is also an option for exotic armor, weapons, or accessories, depending on which crafting skills you’ve chosen. Level 400 required for lvl 80 exotics.
Map zone completion of the higher level zones will usually give you 2 exotic pieces. They may or may not be something your character can use, but you can at least sell them on the TP if you can’t use them.
If you are needing some stepping-stone weapons until you get exotic ones, the cultural weapon vendors sell yellow/rare quality weapons for Karma. Definitely buy some rare quality gear to upgrade from blues & greens in the meantime.
Things that do NOT count towards 100% map:
- dungeons
- PvP areas / Heart of the Mists
- Explorer titles / discovering areas
- jumping puzzles
- new area – Southsun Cove
I was at 100% World completion (“Been There, Done That” title & star), but not all areas were complete on the exploration achievement tab. You are correct in that jumping puzzles don’t count as “point of interest” toward zone completion, but be aware that many of them DO factor in to the achievement for full exploration of each area. It drove me crazy for days when I was only missing 2 areas and couldn’t find them. I’d go to an area on the map that could have been slightly blurred just to check it out, but it wasn’t correct. Finally, I had to look up the most commonly missed areas, and many were jumping puzzles.
Agree with the others that it’s most likely the WvW exploration that’s got you only at 93%. Once you do that – and it can take awhile if your server isn’t adept at dominating certain maps – then take inventory of what you’re missing.

You’re probably missing the underwater cave northeast from Cathedral of Verdance in The Cursed Shore.
Either jump in the water northeast from the exotic karma vendor and continue swimming in that direction on the bottom of the lake/river until you swim under a white coral into the cave entrance, or just follow the story quests. Thanks alot, that was it.
Same for me, thanks for the help.
Thanks for the replies! I definitely have a lot of good info to think about now.
Just out of curiosity, how much power do you have on your staff ele (number)? What crit %? Any other specific numbers would also be helpful so I know when I’m in the ballpark of an average lvl 80.
A friend in game told me about this guide, and it looks very helpful in answering some of the questions I had about gear. Hopefully it will also help others:
http://www.noxxic.com/gw2/elementalist/damage/pve/stat-priority
Hello! I’m a new level 80 staff ele, and I am trying to figure out which stats I should focus on. Just starting to run some dungeons, but I still spend more than half the time exploring/farming out in the world. I go into wvwvw maybe once or twice a week, but I don’t intend to focus on gear for it until my PVE gear is taken care of.
I mostly use fire for damage, some earth. I find air 1 a little touchy with the jumping to the next mob and often pull more than intended, so I tend to avoid it. Staff water damage seems to be really low in comparison to fire or earth, so I mostly use it to heal/regen. I can’t remember my build off the top of my head, but I know I have 30 in fire.
So, here are my questions:
Should I focus on Power or Condition damage or both? How valuable is precision? Which spells are actually capable of critting? Vitality vs. Toughness? How much does healing power really affect our heals? Which runes/sigils do most eles go with?
Is there a post anywhere that gives a number as a goal for any of these stats? For example, I’m not sure how much power an elementalist should ideally get before buffing up survivability, healing, or * gasp * magic find.
Any help is appreciated!
Two hours a day is a lot of time, yes. Most people would not be willing to commit that much time to a game, but those who do are rewarded. Large-scale games like this have to appeal to a wide range of players, some of whom DO play two hours a day, while still trying to make it fun for the rest of us who don’t.
My husband and I were hardcore raiders in WoW (5 hours a night, 5 days a week, plus farming for mats during the off-time) back in the day before children and commitments of real life took over. Gaming was our social time, entertainment/chill time, source of a feeling of achievement, etc… We had the best gear available because we put in the time for it. It would have ticked us off if players who decided to go into a dungeon one night a week should have the same gear as those who of us who committed much more time.
Same principle with the legendary items in GW2. Those who have those items have put in the time. If you don’t have the time, that’s fine, but don’t whine about it. Take joy in the fact that you sound like a very well-rounded person.

You are correct. I am not getting Code 7 now… (wonder when I had that ?)
I am simply getting “Download Failed Please Check your internet connection and try again late. (2)”
And it is always at 19 files to go.
Anyone know what those last 19 files might be so I can just copy them from the other machine?
I have to fix this before my wife will get off my computer and let me play! =)

I have installed and played GW2 on a computer that sits right next to this one. It is working fine on that system. I had no issues with the download. They run the same security software and connect to the same network hub to access the internet.
When I run the install program on this computer it runs till we have 19 files left then the download data continues to increase but nothing happens. Soon after I get the error 7:xxxx about try again. I have tried again over and over. Unistalled the installer and tried it again. I have been working on this for 2 days now.
I have turned off and then removed Eset, my security software.
I have updated everything I can update.
I am stumped. Here are my system specs:
Windows XP Home: Version 5.1 with service pack 3
Intel Dual core 6400@2.13
2.14GHz, 2 Gig Ram (Did not realize I had so little in this machine)
NVIDIA Gforce GTS 250
250G HD with 60G free
Any thoughts? It is my wife’s machine and not being able to install on her own system is driving her (and hence me) NUTS
