These leaderboards, in my opinion, are actually very very credible. At first I was somewhat skeptical that they were garbage. But today I can definitely feel confident about my assessment in their validity.
Case in point – Ostrich Eggs is rank 40 currently. Great engineer, somewhat of a sellout, but good player none the less. At rank 51, just 11 spots behind, is the completely daft ranger talent of Bonesx. Literally the best ranger you have never heard of. That this leaderboard was able to capture their talent and evaluate how close these two players are in actual skill was amazing to me. Seeing this made me know that yes – these leaderboards are legit.
(These are as of this post)
Rank 49: 9 wins, 6 losses, 60% win percentage.
Rank 623: 103 wins, 33 losses, 75.37% win percentage.
Completely ignoring the fact that #623 destroys #49 in games, you’re telling me that in only 15 games, #49 has more kills, captures, points, whatever else you can think of to earn over 500+ spots higher on the list?
I call bull. Can someone link to the algorithm/formula they use to calculate these rankings?
I’m going to reiterate this even further as we have not heard anything back on this.
After 11 wipes with two completely different party configurations, we decided that we could not beat the mechanic, not the boss.
As many have indicated, no matter the distance between the Rumblus and Grast, he went charging in with 50% health on every subsequent attempt. When the rocks started falling, the following happened:
- Grast was knocked down and didn’t cast a bubble upon getting up
- Grast simply didn’t cast the bubble
- Grast cast the bubble when the rocks stopped and kept it up until the rocks began falling the following attack, then resumed normal attacks on the boss
- Grast actually did the bubble correctly (a fraction of the time)
- Grast died
Something must be changed with the mechanic. As many have indicated, more often than not the success of the mission is in the hands of an unreliable NPC. If he is so key, why is he not invulnerable? It is not like his meager DPS is going to make a difference in the fight.
Another option would be to give a weapon/object that has a skill of casting the bubble (think Cultist Hammer from Fractals). Then, it is on one of the party members to ensure survival for the team. This maintains the mechanic and the exact same endstate for ANet’s dungeon, but is more reliable.
In all honesty, what was wrong with the dungeon before? Was it too easy? Because I can think of other dungeon runs that are far easier than the AC ones, even to the point that since the patch I have taken AC off my list of dungeons to try to run every day.
I can understand the devs’ desire to have players spend their time exploring the various world events and avoid repeated runs in one area.
However, many people warp back and run a quick event like the Maw because it is conducive to their play time. Whereas some players were able to run several maws (in hopes for a precursor), they now can only run one, and possibly another dragon if it is up.
With that, shortening respawn times for meta-events gives absolutely no real benefit to anyone anymore due to the one chest per day restriction. Allowing it to be run two or three more times a day will give more players the ability to complete these multiple events that you want them to explore.
Thank You.
