To my understanding, if I read the information correctly, you get a laurel for completing both dailies and monthlies.
I completed my daily today and received the laurel reward, which is awesome and am looking forward to using them.
The question I have is this, if I finished my monthly today, then I would receive the laurel rewards correct? What about those of us who finished our monthly before today? Will we be getting our Laurel rewards on a pro-rated scale?
Please correct me if I am wrong though, and we do not get laurel rewards for completing the monthly. I may have misunderstood something somewhere, but if I didn’t misunderstand, I would like to know if I’ll be getting my laurels or if those of us who finished the monthly before today are “S.O.L.”.
Sounds like a plan, I’ll just have to get my guild to want to run Fractals again. Most people in my guild are just burnt out on them. I may just join a party to see if I get this level specifically to record the issue and let what happen, happen… though I may come out with some angry folks.
Oh wait, I see you are playing warrior. Here is my leveling advice for it, other than keeping your gear up to date, it’s kind of “cookie cutter”, but great for leveling:
Signet of Might: Improves Power and when used, gives you might.
Dolyak Signet: Reduces incoming damage and when used gives you stability.
Signet of Stamina: Faster endurance Regen and when used cures all conditions.
In your heal slot, you want Healing Signet, since it grants regen and will give a small heal if needed when used. With that said, you want 10 points in “Arms” as you get +40 precision for each signet. I also like 10 points in defense which gives you +200 toughness when stunned, knocked down, etc.
For weapons:
Greatsword is beautiful for damage, but you give up mobility since most moves require you to stand still for them to be used to completion.
A Rifle, IMO, is essential as having some ranged is nice and I just prefer it over long bow.
Dual Axes/Swords is not bad either, but play around with having one of each so you can have whirling attacks, plus retaliatory/jumping attacks at your disposal.
Once you have your survivability down with this class, which I believe you will find it quick by using these tips, you can change things around to suit your play style and preference of weapons.
Yeah, my internet isn’t too shabby either (50/5Mb), for some reason this is just my annoyance area. I’ve tried using the dots, and while they do help, since I can’t see myself, I seem to get “stuck” behind objects then have to race across the wall and hope to lose whatever spotted me along the way.
Here is my advice on leveling, while I don’t consider myself an expert, I am very experienced (9 lvl 80’s and 10th one just hit 40 after 3 days. ADD/OCD gets the best of me and I need one of each class and they have to be top level).
Depending on the event, you should be able to solo it. Some will include “champion” type characters that are almost impossible to solo. Remember to keep your gear up to date and if you aren’t sure what direction to take, following a “leveling guide” for your class isn’t a bad thing. It can help give you a better understanding of your class, skills, etc. as to how they work and why you want to go with them.
Once you have that, develop a strategy and/or weapon set for multi and single target mobs/events. Remember your dodge, and depending on your class, what gives you stability, damage multipliers, etc. and develop a rotation for single target and AoE.
If you are a class that has pets, such as Ranger or Necro, play around with them in the starter area’s until you feel comfortable using them or to help you figure out what pet is best for what situation.
Finally, if you have a class that can call out a “limited use” pet, don’t be afraid to play around with those to get you out of tough situations, while leveling and dealing with event’s on your own. Sometimes the hate they pull off of you, can be the difference between life/death and the chance to “Rally” yourself.
Oh, also, don’t forget about using runes, sigils and keeping your accessory slots updated. That can totally make a difference and help in your survivability. If you feel a certain event is still a little too difficult, don’t be afraid to leave it alone for a bit, level up, get better gear and then go back to get revenge.
If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up. Again, I’m no expert, but I’ve survived solo leveling on every class in this game and have solo completed most events on them.
Good luck!
Not to derail or steal your topic, but the responders here seem pretty knowledgeable. Do any of you know if I upgrade to the deluxe edition if I will receive these starter items?
Hey Yocto, Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, this is not an area where this option is available to me, since it happens at the start/load point. I will post a link to video of the area to better explain the area where I am experiencing it.
At about the 8 second mark, in the video, is where my issue usually begins. Right where everyone is loading in. In this video it looks like the party is loading in just fine, and immediately. Unfortunately, I’m not having that luck and am experiencing the half minute, or so, issue that I posted about in my original post.
As for the area’s, or rather, examples posted by the other responders, I have been lucky enough not to experience it in the area’s they have mentioned. Just in this one area.
Thanks again, for your response. All feedback is appreciated.
Fletch and Auesis, thank you both for the quick replies. I guess that answers my questions, regarding if others are experiencing this in PvE as well. I appreciate the answers, and can only hope that this will be part of the “culling” fix I have been hearing about for WvW, and have it be an engine wide fix.
Hey folks, not new to the game, but I don’t post in the forums often as I am usually in game, enjoying it. I do apologize if this has been posted before, but I used the search function and found this issue to be brought up mainly for WvWvW and not PvE, so again, I apologize if this is a “repeat” post in some way.
“Culling” is a word that is actually very new to me and have always known it to be, in layman’s terms, “rendering issues”. I have searched through the posts, and while I can say that I am one of the lucky ones who has not experienced this in WvWvW, this is something that I have been experiencing since day 1 of fractals, in the level that I believe is called “Charr Invasion”. The one where you play as Charr.
My character, my companions and the friendly NPC’s will not load up for me in the first 20 seconds or so of the event. At about the 20 second mark (I’ve timed it, and this is about average), friendly NPC and my fellow adventurers names will show up, about 10 seconds later their actually digital “bodies” will begin to show, as well as my own.
Due to this, I try not to “PUG” Fractals, since I consider myself to be a liability when and if this level comes up. Again, this is the only area that it happens to me in the whole game.
I will usually run this with guild members only, or if a guild member is in a “PUG” with me, since they can see me and give me verbal commands that help in that level, such as “Okay, we’re moving in this direction. Okay, stop. Turn here.” etc. until everything loads in.
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this in this level, and if so, if they have fixed it. What options did they change to help render better. etc.
Also, is this a “widespread” issue, and is this something that will be addressed along with the “culling” issue that has been brought up as being looked into for WvWvW? Is it a game engine issue, or could it be something on my end?
I don’t want to post my complete DxDiag here, but in short I am running W7x64, 8GB of Ram and a GTX295 (in Sli mode), with an older Q6600 Quad-core (not over-clockled) at DX11.
All drivers have been fully updated, the game runs beautifully on my system, it’s just this one issue that I am experiencing and am looking for feedback from other players, as well as anyone on the staff that may have some information regarding this issue.
