CPU & Optimization issue. There’s no way a card that has:

999MHzMemory Clock
1792MBStandard Memory Config
GDDR3Memory Interface
896-bitMemory Interface Width
223.8Memory Bandwidth (GB/sec)

is not capable of running a game over 60fps if it is using the hardware resources properly.

It is actually most likely your Gen 2 i7 1.9ghz, because this game uses more CPU resources than any other hardware resources on your computer; that 1.9GHZ clock speed is definitely the reason that you’re bottlenecking.

Try to get a new CPU, it should improve the FPS by around 10-20FPS max, depending on what CPU you get. I know a lot of Intel users get around 80FPS while AMD CPU users struggle to get over 60FPS… but that’s by no means the AMD CPUs’ fault, rather it’s because AMD has their own unique CPU architectures different from Intel (so some optimization on Intel CPUs won’t work on AMD CPUs).

Anyways, the bottom line is that (@ OP) a GTX295 is more than capable of delivering constant 30FPS+ at max settings. My GTX260 only dips to around the 20s in certain areas, but mostly it’s good 30+FPS (and I use the Faildozer – AMD FX 6100 3.3GHZ Hex-Cores + 8Gig Ram).

Just for the record,i have FX8120 with watercooling H60 at 4.3Ghz,solid 80+fps,and in an empty map i have 120fps solid,GTX 660!!! Its not about intel or amd,its about how the components bound together, mainboard, cpu, ram and vga.
But i will give you an advise about the FX series, they are working perfectly on windows 8,i used to have Win 7 64Bit and my cpu didnt worked right, the fault was on windows because the build didnt support FX series very well, and microsoft have fixed this issue with win 8,i brought the upgrade pack and then i saw the light xD xD,very good managened with FX series.

Can upgrading to an SSD improve my FPS?

I have Samsung X830 ssd 64GB,lower loading time on gw2 no fps imrove but i could say that i have steady fps, windows 8 64bit boots on less than 4secs with FX8120.

Are this specs good for GW2

So I read the post on how to fix the black screen for Nvidia.
My drivers are up to date. and all setting in the control panel for it are as follows in the picture. ( I used the restore “feature” as they told me to) :/

I’m also reading that i should not have updated to the latest drivers? WTF? really? I mean a company that tells us that the issue is the drivers are not up to date and you need to update and when we do we get screwed. I cant take much more of this. I think ill call for a refund soon and actually go back to WoW. Still Battle.net but at least they read the dam forum. i.e. “loot bug”

M8 you have GTX560,have you read that maybe…….maybe these drivers are not for your card?I mean, i have GTX660 and im not using csaa X32……omg this one cant be handled not even from GTX590,and second the drivers that you have updated are beta and not official…………..BETA,for your card just unistall beta drivers and w8 for the official last build, nvidia is nvidia.

CPU or GPU?

I have 2 computers that I use for guild wars 2. One has an AMD FX-8350, the other uses the famous Intel i5-3570k. Both use the same GPU the Radeon 7850 2gb. The i5 averages about 12-20fps higher than the FX and has much better frame latency due to the game scaling very well with intel processors for some reason.

FX averages 54 fps.
i5 averages 66 fps.

Both tested with Vsync off.

Im using an FX8120 with gigabyte GA-970A-D3,16GB ram and GTX660 Nvidia, with overclocked cpu to 4.3Ghz average fps that i have is 70-75 max fps 110-120,no problem at all, doesnt have any problems with my cpu and if you have FX8350 try to overclock him to 5Ghz,if you have good mobo, and then tell me if its good or not,for the money that i gave for my FX8120,makes more of its value for me,you could say “but intel is gaming cpu”yeah i will not tell no but it lacks in multitasking and if you notice GW2 is multitasking game,battlefield3 is multitasking, even the new counter strike is multitasking, there is an option to enable multitasking into every game exept gw2,its ebabled and cant be disabled.
M8 if you want to build a pc for GW2 only you have to choose the parts to fit perfectly,at my build gtx660 sucks, because every 2-3 hours, drivers are crashing x-/ ,if you have the money for intel build make intel build, its very good build,if you dont want to give e.g up to 300-350 then you cant make an intel build like 3570K,anyway its up to you and your pocket, read opinions and take it decision.
Have have m8
