I have to agree with this. As a new player who joined a guild to test the waters, I decided to join another with an alt. I then get told that I need to represent with ‘all’ alts by one of these guilds. Why? Because they can see I am online with another character, but not representing.
What this does?
1. Makes me not want to log in at all.
2. Quit the guild that wants me to rep with all my characters.
3. Never join any guild, because I have no privacy to do what I want.
There is 0 reason that any, one guild, needs to know I am online with other characters.
This is the first game I have played that has implemented this lack of privacy.
Ok, I know this game has no monthly fee, that instead it relies on players wanting in game items for their various characters, in which they will spend rl cash to get. That is fine, most games are doing that, these days.
However, my problem lies in server transfers. GW2 is wanting 1800 gems, essentially 30-35 U.S dollars to switch to a server, that may or may not fit a persons play style.
All my characters are low-level and deletable, because I just started trying this game out. I’m not paying 30 dollars to switch them and to be honest, I am not content on the server, I did choose.
So my idea.
Players who have 0 characters, should transfer for 0 gems. (( Say you delete them. You just go to creation and choose a new server and done. Like in Most other MMOs))
Players who do keep characters, pay a gem fee. 30 dollars is still a bit steep. I can buy a player house for 20 or less on another MMO I play, or a mount…etc.
Where I stand right now, is playing my other mmo’s until I can catch a free transfer day, that GW2 may or may not allow, in the future. Because I’m not digging in my pocket for 30 dollars for lowbie characters and won’t play the game at all in a server world that doesn’t fit right.
To some this may sound unkind, but it’s my own opinion on what I’m willing to pay and for what kind of service. Especially as a new player, just coming in.
