Yeah they will add in ascended armor at some point. I was thinking after that though. If they add in another gear level, I’ll be extremely disappointed.

I hear getting Ascended accessories is very, very tiresome. You run the same dungeon over and over and over.

They add new content every month for free (but in reality paid for via gem store), theres been loads of new content added since release…

They are giving you constant FREE new content…its a new type of business model…you just after get your head around it…

What I’m trying to get my head around is why the game is called Guild Wars. From what I hear and part of what I know, just getting a guild bank is long. After that, the experience needed to improve guild “perks” are just too long and too demanding, especially for smaller guilds. Where’s my incentive to keep playing? I bought all my gear WHICH at the time I didn’t know was pretty much end game gear. They should really make Exotic gear BoP.

They are just talking about expansions in that article. The problem you are having is insisting that expansions are the only way to introduce new content, which clearly isn’t true.

So there will be new quest zones? dungeons? gear levels?

quest zones and dungeons? quite possibly or they could add to what we have. Gear levels? I certainly hope not, that would be a nightmare.

I don’t think so. Give me the 6 main pieces in Ascendent levels.

This game was awesome 1-80. Absolute perfection in my opinion. Then I bought some gems, turn it into gold, bought all exotic Bezerker level 80 gear and realized there’s nothing to do because I had the gear I would have been grinding for.

The jumping puzzles (very fun), map completion (cool), alt leveling (a breeze) and skin collecting is stuff you do on OFF RAID NIGHTS…but this game has no raiding. And there’s no new contents planned for this game. So, let’s rename it Jumping Wars and put it back on the shelf.

P.S. I’m a girl and I don’t even care about the skins. I bought the Order of Whispers gear and was very happy with that.

What makes you think there’s no new content coming?

The developers said so.

can you source that please?

Here’s the article

http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/03/06/guild-wars-2-expansion/

Is this all there is to this game for the next two or more years until GW3 comes out?

there must be something lost in translation because them not currently working on an expansion does not mean they won’t be putting out content

This says so: “Expansions are definitely something that we’ll potentially look at in the future, but we don’t have a timetable on it,” Johanson says. “We’re open to it, but I think our major focus as a studio is making the living world concept as strong as possibly can for the players that we’ve got.”

How can I read this wrong? They will improve what we have now.

Of course they released it too early. I’ve yet to see an MMO in the last five years that hasn’t come out too early. That’s because no matter what you do, at some point you have to start earning an income.

I’ve said this before on many threads, that I believe Anet launched this game to beat MoP to market. It wasn’t a bad move. Probably made them a lot of money. They’ve been playing catch up ever since.

If this was the only MMO forced to launch before it was completely finished, it would be a travesty, but it’s not. Because MMOs cost so much money to make and take so much time that eventually you have to bite the bullet and get it out there.

As usual, you misrepresent my position.

I didn’t say it had to be completely finished. There’s a wide swath of possibilities between underdeveloped and completely polished.

I didn’t buy this game because it’s relatively better than all the others; relatively better can still be poor overall. I bought it because I expected it to meet some set of criteria that exists regardless of the quality of current MMOs on the market.

Me. I’ll just hang out here and wait for the fixes.

That’s the problem. You’re asking us to trust that everything will work out. I don’t see how they can make significant improvements without a significant overhaul of many of the core mechanics. And you’ve already said in other threads you don’t see those kinds of changes occurring.

I didn’t misrepresent you. I disagree with you. The game was playable, it was buggy. If you don’t like the core mechanics, you don’t like them, and that’s fine. It doesn’t, however, make those core mechanics bad. It makes them not your thing.

I have very little problem with the core mechanics of this game and I had very little problem with them at launch. You’re 100% right. If you don’t like the core mechanics of a game, it’s not going to change. I didn’t like the trinity in any game I’ve played. That’s a core mechanic. It’s not going to change. So if I play trinity games, I don’t go to the forums of those games and complain about the trinity, because there’s not much point. I knew it would be there from the beginning.

As for expecting a game to launch more complete more better than it’s counterparts, well, you can expect that. But it’s not a reasonable expectation. The industry is how it is for a reason. The combination of fan pressure for the game to come out, investor pressure for the game to come out, timing of other games…given that no MMO is going to be in a good place when it launches, it makes sense to launch in window with no competition. If you owned the company, you’d do the same thing. Because it’s your money and your investment.

Waiting till the game is more ready isn’t always the best thing for the game. And the higher the overhead of a business, the more risk involved. This is a big risk investment for people and business decisions have to be part of the equation.

This game needs WoW raids + Rift dimensions = perfection

Rift didn’t have dimensions at launch and I’m pretty sure WoW didn’t have a raid. Content takes time. The core of the game is finally working and now they can start adding stuff, in the same way they added the fractals. Again, all it takes is time.

But they said there’s no more content coming….so?

The end game was always supposed to be cosmetc, completely in line with Guild Wars 1. Having a cosmetic end game actually solves a lot of the genre’s problems, things like stat and gear creep.

Think about your typical MMO. You take a break for a month or two, you come back and you’re completely undergeared for everything your friends are doing. You feel left out you and you have to pug or solo your way through stuff, because you took a break.

The old system is very unforgiving to people who are just starting out, or people who just take a break. Then there’s another issue.

The numbers get bigger and bigger, but they don’t really mean anything, because it’s all just relative to the new content anyway.

The only reason ascended gear has a stat increase is because of reactions to people who have played other games, and think you must have stat increase for end game. Personally, I’d have preferred no stat increase for ascended gear, but I see why Anet did it.

The fractals are the hard, challenging thing that people from other games do because they need that sense of progression.

Me, I just enjoy the world. Work on achievements. Play some WvW. Today I had a great time playing Keg Brawl. Ton of fun. Some people like the super adventure box.

Some people go for the dungeon master title, which involved finishing every path of every dungeon. Some of them can be challenging.

But yeah, the rewards for the most part, are cosmetic. And if you want to know why, take a look at the threads about how many people think the ascended gear has ruined the game by creating gear grind.

Ok, I think I understand. Fractals are raiding? and the reason to raid is for prestige not gear?

Good morning forum peeps!

First off, like to say, the levelling experience in this game was just awesome. There is nothing like it on the gaming market. It was a dream to me. I didn’t have to bring 15 Kobold candles or 10 wolf pelts to an NPC who, as soon as he gets them, will turn around and say “I need 15 Prickleberries too (u mad bro?)”. So thank you very much to who ever came up with GW2 yellow heart idea.

Purposely, I didn’t read about the endgame. I just didn’t want to know too much. I was hoping to figure things out and look things up only when I got to that point. Why look up things that effect level 80 when your toon is level 20, right?

Then something happened. I happened to accumulate some gold. 23 gold. So I did what every good gamer does, I went to check out gear on the trading post.

And this is where the game has kind of died for me. I discovered I could owe full exotic gear for about 30 gold. At this point I still had a thought that there was still much better gear out there, in fractals, or dungeons. So I asked in chat, what gear level comes after exotic? People told me there is some ascendant gear, rings, accessories. But for the main 6 pieces of gear, exotic is the highest.

I didn’t want to be able to buy the gear. I was very disappointed to see that I could. So, what do I do now? Keep levelling toons just to buy them gear at 80? Jumping puzzles? (i’m not the best jumper). WvW? What do I do with pvp currency when I’m wearing exotic gear?

Is end game all cosmetic?

Mods do not mean win win, and the last time I checked the congruent player base ( the actual number of players that log on during peak hours) Guild Wars was up to 800k and Warcraft ( that allows mobs ) was down to 700k.

Show me proof. I deny 700K at peak hours in WoW.

Seriously, by the end of the main story, slaying Zhaitan and leading the charge of the pact, being a world known hero…the 3 orders should just let us buy whatever we want from any of them.
We earned my stripes with all three orders by killing an elder dragon and bringing the 3 orders together. We shouldn’t have to prove ourselves one bit beyond that. Any amount of proving our way from one order to the next is rediculous when viewed fromt he story perspective, aka the world’s perspective.

Completely agreed.

First off a bit of friendly advice.

Your original post came off somewhat

  • Demanding
  • Childish ( in the sense it sounded like you were whining
  • Assumptive, and angry

3 things you defiantly do not want to do if you want Arena Net to take your suggestions seriously.

A customization of the UI is not expected, at least I will say most of the people I play and speak with do not expect it. So you should re-phrase your statement to, I have grown to expect it in MMORPG

I personally have no issues with it, also Olba is correct, your top part of your screen should be eye level. Regardless of where you look at the screen or focus. Ergonomics is funny that way, then again the people that get a masters in it might be wrong.

- Demanding? – I’m a paying customer.
- Childish? – I’m playing a game.
- Assumptive? – Yes, I already said as much.
- Expectation? – Yes, again, I said as much.

What is the population of people that play this game? Does Arena Net want more? Yes.

To attract more players, it would be benificial to have mods, well benificial to Arena Nets pockets anyways.

So, to sum up, MODs are Win win!

*p.s. The gaming community is childish is you haven’t noticed.

Why is my target bar/portrait way at the top of the screen? it doesn’t even make sense to have it there….

Actually, from an ergonomics standpoint, the top of your monitor should be at eye level. Thus, it actually does make sense: the most important information is at the point where your eyes should default to.

and where’s the target of target?

We have the Call Target and the respective Take Target command.

Why can’t we at least move around what they gave us?

There are some elements in the UI that you can move. Well, you can move the minimap and the chat window.

But if you want my opinion, it’s because ANet has been pushing the eSports thing from the get-go. Due to that, customization has to be put to a minimum to achieve easy of access. And let’s be honest, nowadays videoguides and highlight reels on YouTube are pretty kitten common. For those purposes as well, having a consistent UI is important to understanding.

Also, just because something is common does not mean it’s a requirement. Different developers have different philosophies: some will strive to allow maximum customization whereas others want a consistent, easy-to-understand system. And ANet is obviously in the latter, considering that a lot of the things we’re “lacking” can be explained if you look at it from a newcomer’s perspective.

Actually your eye defaults to your charachter….in the middle of your screen. I don’t know about you, but that’s where I’m looking when in combat.

What difference does it make if I want my target’s portrait lower? I’m not changing an element, I’m personalizing my play. Hell they could even make it something you have to do in game at a certain level. Have you ever as a child changed the way you played tag or hide and go seek? The game is the same, you are just making it better for you. That’s all I’m saying.

Why can’t we move our UI items? I understand not wanting people to have unfair advantages, but seriously? Why is my target bar/portrait way at the top of the screen? it doesn’t even make sense to have it there….and where’s the target of target? Why does my map have to be full screen? Why can’t I change the color of combat messgaes? What about spell counters? As a Mesmer, having my Illusion counter moveable would be a great benefit. Why can’t we at least move around what they gave us?

I really do understand them not wanting things like Recount, DBM, etc, but just some little things I could do to personalize MY playstyle is not only good, but pretty much EXPECTED in these days of MMORPGs.

@ Razgriz um…hasn’t this game been in development for like 3 years or something? They have had ALOT of opportunity to beta test this, I remember the betas being short and small groups. Ok, I got through it but not in the manner intended. If the first one to shoot is at 1:54 then it shoots waaaaaay early. I did the sequence as the video provider laid out and not once did I see the full sequence fire NOR my own panels fire after clicking them. I literally saw maybe HALF the graphics in the storyline. If this is what I can expect out of game play, then higher levels are gonna be impossible. Too bad, because you can tell how much love went into this game. It’s epic like Star Wars without the crazy map sizes and MUCH more engaging than wow.

So I just started playing and my storyline is completely bugged. I’m doing the Golem Positioning System for Asura. I know how to do it, it’s the simple Simon Says, panel shoots lightning, you click, follow the pattern, I get it. Only, it doesn’t work. The very first panle to shoot goes off, I run over to click it and the dude says “No No No…”. So I reset it, log out, log in, exit, restart and I get the same thing. Over and over. I can’t complete the level 4 storyline….GG Anet.
