I wasn’t really trying to disprove you just bring more attention to the fact of how bad you can actually perform and still progress under this system.
Special attention should be noted in the emerald to ruby climb. In my scenarios listed B and C will secure tiers after each win streak making their climbs much faster than their A counterpart which can be extremely frustrating for A.
Player A would also have to play on average more games than both B and C while maintaining his winrate, B on the other hand can actually deviate downwards on occasion and still progress faster than A.
“a 50% winrate guarantees progression”
This is false. The key to progressing is purely in how you win, not some magical winrate %.
3 examples:
Person A: W, L, W, L, W, L, W, W, L, L, W, L, etc 50% winrate 0 pip gain
Person B: W, W, W, L, L, L, W, W, W, L, L, L, etc 50% winrate 2 pip gain
Person C: W, W, W, L, L, L, L, W, W, W, L, L, L, L, 43% winrate 1 pip gain
B and C can hit legendary by repeating the pattern thru sheer number of games, while A cannot despite being better than C and equal to B.
I know it’s unrealistic to expect these 3 patterns to repeat with no deviation but the point remains. Basically if you can not abuse the double pip gain one way or another you can not advance with ‘just’ a 50% winrate. If you can win 3 matches in a row and have a winrate above 43% you deserve to be in legendary. The only limiting factor is number of games played to hit the necessary combo of double pip gains to pull it off.
And that is exactly what I am saying, for Primordial to work like that Amber would need to count as a division cross. Amber does not count as a division cross currently. You’re ignoring the fact that Primordial Legend is itself an achievement. Just looking at it it says 0/6 divisions crossed.
I am bringing up the ascension achievement because in essence these 2 are the exact same thing. Both achievements measure division crosses, only one broken up into different tiers. Where ascension is concerned Amber is NOT considered a division cross, so it would go to follow that it does not count for Primordial Legend as well and being Amber is the first division then Primordial legend would be unable to even be started as 1/6 on the way to legendary. I’m pointing this out as the possible cause of the bug that is preventing people from getting Primordial when they hit legendary rank.
What I’m seeking clarity on is in fact if Amber is supposed to count as a division cross(and based on what they say, it is) for Primordial, if it is then Ascension is also bugged in that respect.

And this is where confusion is setting in. Josh’s post says you get it for entering legendary initially meaning as soon as you get the badge. For that to count as 6 division crosses Amber would need to count as a division cross itself, which it does not. 6 division crosses going by the ascension achievement(why would it be a division cross for 1 but not the other) is legendary x2(meaning you get your badge then get 1 more tier). So which is it, 6 division crosses currently meaning x2 or is it supposed to be when you get legendary meaning amber should count as a division cross.
The intended design is that you should receive the achievement for initially entering legendary (1x). We’re still investigating the issue and will update as soon as we can.
If its true that hitting legendary is supposed to be the trigger then something is wrong. From what I recall Amber division does not count as a division cross for the ascension achievement. You gave the title to people that had achieved the League Champion achievement and to do that currently you need Legendary x2. Someone with a better memory correct me if I am wrong but that points to the issue being amber.
Two days ago I had posted I was at 17k files remaining from the HoT update after 5 days of constant downloading. Last night I was still chipping away at the files 10 or so at a time with constant relaunches. Then for whatever reason with the update around 10pm est(last patch before servers were shut down) fixed my issues. I was able to download all the remaining files in one sitting. Nearly 14k files worth and only saw the launcher drop to 0 a couple of times and only for a split second.
Now with this latest update those same issues are back, even worse now. The launcher is stalling pretty consistently after only 1MB, no matter if it grabs a file or not, and is also back to sitting at 0/kbs more than it is attempting to download. Command line changes, deleting the local .dat, language changes all do nothing. Relaunches, which would grab files before, no longer help either.
Ive been trying to download since release nonstop. I still have 17k files to go and the only thing I can offer you for advice is to just just keep relaunching the updater.
If i leave the updater on for any extended periods of time it stalls out usually around 10 files and it will run in circles acting like its downloading, but it makes no file progress. Just last night I ran it while I slept and when I woke up about 7 hours later it had not downloaded a single file even though it claimed almost a gig was downloaded. Another issue I have with letting it sit, it spends more time at 0/kbs then it does actually trying to download anything. By sitting at the comp and manually relaunching when i see the files stop I can manage to chip away at the download.
There have been small stretches where it will go on uninterrupted streaks but I have no idea how to reproduce them. Most recent stretch being right after the latest patch I got near 600 files without needing to relaunch.
Another thing I’ve started doing is actually loading into the game not to play, but to afk in the pvp lobby with my streaming set to idle. For some reason this seems to help it slowly pick up files where the updater would just sit at 0 or run in circles. Other zones work too with the exception of LA, I can not load into there yet or into the new wvw maps. If you try this way I’ve also noticed if you get kicked back to char select screen it seems to halt progress too.
Its far from ideal but it seems to be the only thing that is working for me right now.

As of about 2 hours ago I started making progress again. I gave up on asset servers last night and just let it run normally and when I woke up today it had still made no progress and was stuck on that same file. After maybe an hour – 90 mins of cycles of letting it sit and launcher restarts it finally ticked over that 1 file.
All and all it took maybe 18 hours, but the game is finally playable and not 5 min after that file my download was down 2k files from where it was, and continuing with some hiccups. I’m pretty sure my ISP is to blame but they claim everything is working. I am currently looking for a new provider but I live in an awkward area for service that is not satellite related so its tough.
Not the best situation I know but there is still hope it will go thru, I hope it works out for you.

I haven’t even made it to the playable part of the download. I have been downloading for about 21hours straight and still have 82k files left. When it attempts to update 9 times out of 10 my download speed will bottom out to 0/kbs after a mere 500kb-1mb or it will launch at 0kbs. When that doesn’t happen it “may” download a file or 2 before it bottoms out. Connection error messages are very common as well.
Currently stuck on a file for about 5 hours now and tried everything from asset servers, many, many patcher restarts, language changes, leaving it alone, one time for upwards of almost an hour, and still nothing.
I’ve had many issues downloading patches in the past, but nothing to this degree, any help would be appreciated.
I haven’t read anything about it here, so I’ll ask:
Considering that these achievements got a new category under “Competitive”, wouldn’t it be logical that they aren’t going in the “Historical” tab after the event but stay there for future upcomings of Dragonball in other events? It would, at least, reduce the time pressure a bit.
I would not make any assumptions that any achievement will return. I made this mistake the first year with the halloween and wintersday jumping puzzles. Being new to this type of movement and coming from console only games I figured I could get them in year 2. Like how you could work on lucky rings or w/e from various festivals in GW1 from year to year, to my surprise they did not return. So now my account is forever -20 potential AP despite having done the wintersday one in particular the 150 times it required this year. If you’re going to make an assumption about achievements in this game; past experience tells us that once they are gone they stay that way. If they change it through this new category, that is great, but do not count on it unless they come out and say this is how it will work because everything up until now says otherwise.
Another reason I don’t see it making a return is how disproportionate this 1 achievement is compared to the rest. If they had intended us on working on these on multiple festivals I would of expected bigger numbers across the board and maybe even more categories like trap triggers. All that said I would love to be proven wrong on this instance but I learned my lesson and will not make that mistake again.
