Sadly, I also returned after a lengthy break, bought HOT and found that my beloved Mesmer main is in a very poor place. There didn’t seem to be much about the new spec that jumped out at first glance and it was clear the old builds were pretty much dust. So far spent my time trying to unlock DH for my guardian instead. I was looking forward to getting the Mesmer up to snuff as well but that doesn’t sound too exciting right now. Sad that such a unique and fun class has been neglected.

I would be interested for sure. Just recently started using the interrupt build and have been having good success and fun. I could always use some practice and advice. Don’t hesitate to send me msg if your looking to do something.

If accurate these changes are uninspired at best. Disappointing for most of us. Although it’s probably been mentioned many times I would be thrilled to be able to blink and then not glide across the ground like a mannequin. I definitely relate to what Qaelyn posted above…

I realized how great it is reminding me to keep 1200 ft distance while testing in the mists. It said " don’t stand at 900 feet unless you are read to dive into the fray". I can be forgetful.
Great for kitting silly guards at camps too :P

I also have been running this build for a while an I find it particularly nice for roaming and flipping camps solo. I often will often run with the two 10 pt dissipation traits for that, but it offers nice flexibility to switch to Empowering illusions and GS training for pve events or wvw groups.

I have been running a new bunker build Guardian and was having a riot, until one day when the luck of the draw had me facing a necro & an engineer. It was an eye opening learning experience. Burned down fast would be putting it mildly. I m glad to read that they are somewhat “bunker bane” if you will. The two in tandem was awful. I would literally see 6+ conditions explode across the status bar, cleanse, and they were right back. These two guys seemed keyed in on me so I was toast. Came back the next day and had alot of fun with a different mix. I kept thinking of this post feeling much empathy …

Zerker w/ scholars for PVE
Knights w/ travelers for WvW and gathering – i like to roam with the Mez
PVT for when needed
Rabid sitting collecting dust for one day maybe.

The PvP in this game is not a truly competitive scene. It never will be.

Play the game because you have fun, no other reason.

I play mesmer in PvP because it’s fun, and that’s all I need.

So true. I got all pumped up to try my guardian in pvp yesterday and got rolled. I’m sure there are many who can do great with a guardian and granted I am not as familiar with some of the skill flow, but when I switched back to my Mesmer, it felt like home and a whole lot more fun. It can be easy to loose sight of the “escape/fun factor” we all likely started playing for. I was away from the game for about four months because it just wasn’t fun. Once I started to feel enjoyment again I dove back in till the next drop off…

Had a fun portal trial last night that will seem trivial to those more familiar with using it but it was gratifying. I had just enough time to try and hit a camp or two before I logged for dinner. I saw a camp in one of the enemies borderlands (can’t remember the two servers we are facing) Got over there and went to greens camp. Suddenly as I approach, I see a zerg of blue who caps the camp. Great so now I have to wait for the Sup de-buf to pass. Waited about a minute before I saw the first doly head out, so set after it and killed it while a straggler from the zerg saw and engaged (they soon ran off). I disappear back to the hills behind some buildings. Doly #2 heads out. I dropped a portal, ran out & engaged the doly but here comes the zerg after hearing from their friend. Killed it as they were pouring through the entry and began chase. Dropped exit, poof back outta sight. Watched them for a bit as they searched for me. Left me with a smile. Looking forward to more trials…

Portal is the one skill I feel I am sorely lacking at. I’ve also had that awkward feeling of not knowing when and where are the best times to drop it. I have seen some amazing stunts in some of Osicat’s videos.

Look forward to your postings as I too am doing more WvW and having much fun with a PU/power roaming build. Was in a 3 vs 10 the other night and we killed half of them till they had friends reinforce. When they finally got me down, one who had been there the whole fight and survived danced on my body for about 30 sec. I laughed, must have gotten under someones skin.

Mesmers… :P

I thought, a chance to join up with a group that includes the likes of Pyro, Osicat and other Mesmer legends, certainly! Sign me up please.
