The solution
As most lurking this thread for a possible solution i would suggest turning off your firewall and see if it fixes anything if so and your using AVG security try this. However i dont know how to fix this for other internet security software but am pretty sure it its the same method just a diffrent way to get there depending on your program.
- open AVG firewall
- click firewall settings
- a pop-up will appear and click this time sytem services in the active profile
- Click the Manage User System Rules
- another pop-up will appear and input from top to bottom
- TCP
- out
- Unrestricted ports (1024-65535)
- remote port(s) 80,6112,6600
- All Networks (Allow for All)
- choose a name click ok
- the pop-up will disappear and on the previous window/ pop-up click confirm
or check for a more detailed solution here
if this dose not work try one of the other methods written in this thread.
but am pretty sure now that the majority of the problem is a security software(firewall) or a router based.Mabey one last solution if its a firewall issue and you dont know how to do any of this,
is to use the windows firewall instead of your normal one its as good as a firewall as any other you usually use.
Good news! you indeed found the solution to my problem it did turn out to be the AVG firewall thanks for that.
However adding the new rule did NOT work. Like you suggested i turned off AVG firewall and enabled the windows firewall and this DID work for me.
I will keep things like this for a while until a better fix for the AVG firewall problem is presented.
Thanks again Komatik you have been a great help.
Hi,
Thanks to skagrin, I have a new solution for people who are unable to load the trading post. I’ve tested this on a Windows XP VM here to make sure it works, but haven’t done much.
The theory is that the root certs on your computers are not up to date. Follow these steps to update them:
1. Close the game client
2. Download and run http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/rootsupd.exe
3. You’ll probably have to click ‘run’ or ‘allow’ a couple times, but after that, nothing will appear. But that’s OK, your root certs have now been updated.
4. Open the game client and try to access the trading postIf you haven’t been able to load the trading post at all, try these steps. If this works for you, I’ll ask our customer service team to write up more formal documentation on this procedure.
This worked for my Vista 64 ultimate installation as well! I think the root cert theory is sound as I disallow automatic windows updates by default and have a tendency to be very choosy. Thus, those certificates weren’t current and I got blank black lion pages.
Spread this one around and test on 7 as well, but the issues with 7 may also be people who elect to not let windows automatically update itself for bandwidth use or other reasons. I think skagrin may have nailed it here!
I am using Windows 7 64x and it is fully updated. Yet the above solutions have NOT worked for me.
Last week i had access to the Gem Store and Currency exchange. But for the last 2-3 all the tabs have remained empty.
I have tryed deleting the local.dat file multiple times and i have also tryed the fix skagrin suggested. Dos anyone have any other idea’s?
EDIT: Problem has been fixed solution for my problem presented by Komatik!!
