Just had another idea, it would be awesome and so much fun if the Bard’s Elite ability was to drop an ensemble of different instruments that other players could pick up (environmental weapons similar to the elementalist) and play together like a band. Hahaha that really puts a smile on my face and would be unbelievably so much fun.
Now i know we are all in a stage of the game where bugs and balance is still being worked on including making a more dynamic ever changing world. So please don’t reply if you do saying that it’s not a priority etc… i know. It’s just a suggestion.
A great suggestion though in my mind as i believe this profession would fit so well into the lore and land of Tyria, i would love to play as a guy or gal with lutes and flutes, drums and harps, violins and maybe even a synthesizer/keyboard (made by the Asura and their mech magic of course). There’s even existing Bard’s (or somewhat of) already in Tyria, like the Bard’s at Mad King Thorns holiday that sing about him or even the Captain/Pirate Penzan!
Using sound waves to not only heal but buff as well as do damage by shaking the ground with drums or exploding enemies heads with an electric guitar (legendary perhaps?) and lulling enemies to sleep with a harp for a little crowd control. Play a little happy tune to buff your allies, or a ballad for healing properties and straight up rock for damage. So much to work with in terms of flavor, mechanics and skills with the Bard.
I’m not sure how the mechanics would be best to work with though, whether to actually play a tune correctly to be successful in your attack/heal etc… Adding new weapons maybe? Physical Lutes, Drums, Harps, Trumpets etc… Or even a Bard using current weapons but associate them with music or even transforming them to a instrument, maybe even having just the utility bar for instruments that you unlock with skill points and equip it similar to an engineers grenades or flamethrower (probably the way to go).
The more i think about this class the more excited i get because i know if Anet does implement the Bard profession in GW2 they would do it justice and would be one of the best Bards to play with compared to other games with them (there’s not that many).
Of course though I’m not holding my breath, in fact i expect the profession to perhaps never exist as I’m a realist. When you look at today’s professions there’s 3 scholar’s, 3 adventurer’s and only 2 soldier professions. The Bard is very much an adventurer so it would make sense that a third soldier profession would be the next addition, but does it have to be? I can only have hope.
What do you guys think? Would you like to play as a Bard? What more could you add to this profession?

As Miseris said in other topic
In GW1 (and in GW2) you don’t control the dead. You are granted the power of Grenth in exchange for the energy you steal (“Soul Reaping”) from the dying.
Necro minions are made of corpse bits (corpses are “exploited”) but they aren’t zombie or skeletal undead. Those undead are an abomination, as they are the souls of the dead confined to a rotting shell (whether flesh or skeletal), and are basically the work of evil magic.
It’s a deliberate distinction that our enemies in GW1 (Shiro, The Lich, rogue Necros, etc) used zombies and skeletal undead, just as our enemy Zhaitan uses zombies in GW2.Those creatures are slaves, while our minions are but the power of Grenth loaned to us as mindless fleshy constructs, though fueled by death and the power of the soul, they are not the souls of the dead themselves.
And I had this thought, maybe it was already said somewhere, but why not use life force to summon minions. Each minion would require % of LF to be summoned (bone minion 20%, golem 100%) but we could have more than 1 minion of each type, but still with certain limitations (or after some time it will be a 1 man zerg with 100 golems). The only big issue I see, is how to implement it in gw skill bar system, like how to separate new minion summon from using minion skill.
That just makes zombies/skeletons even more cool if the association with Zhaitan and other “big evils” = taboo/evil. I don’t like the Bone Fiend or whatever it is (never use it/doesn’t look unique) and the Shadow Fiend (reminds too much of the void guy a Warlock has in WoW), i agree with you that i wish at least we could have an army of the same type like 6-8 Flesh Golems (reduced damage and toughness etc… of course) and run riot with those and the meta game of being a Minion Master means managing your minions in terms of summoning them, healing them, buffing them, rezzing them etc…
The point i suppose I’m trying to make for myself is if being a Necromancer is just stealing life and creating fleshy constructs leaves me feeling the class is a little empty, missing something that’s all.
This is a minor thought about the minions we have as well as our namesake, while i like the style of our current pets (jagged horror’s, blood fiend and golem more even though currently they’re next to useless) when i first heard about the necro class having pets i thought we’d have the ability to reanimate the dead (prob npc’s or fallen allies) to make skeleton minion’s. Frankly that’s all i want, a humanoid skeletal warrior/mage/ranger etc… or even the ability to summon a lich and have these undead servants slowly claw their way out of the ground to do our bidding. Perhaps even having a late grandmaster trait to have them become permanent pets. However i do understand and realize the style and direction ANET wants in the necromancer and i don’t see myself reanimating the recently killed anytime soon. I have hope that ANET has the never say never attitude at least.
What are your thoughts about this?
