Thanks for the reply! Sorry for the noobishness in the post…trying to figure it out, but I am reading guides as well…just trying to tweak for play style and understanding.

Glad to know that weapon traits are so useful! I wasn’t sure.

PVE: Where to trait in Inspiration/Illusions?

Hi!

I have been comparing/contrasting build guides, and I’m looking for a globally useful trait distribution (committed PVE, and casual/for-fun PVP/WvWvW), with damage as the central role of the build (I believe team support and survivability can come from weapons, gear, and utility slots).

What I don’t understand is real-world usefulness of some traits that may otherwise look good as tooltips.

I’m solid on my 20/20 decision with 0/X/X as my predicament.

I’ve calculated a
20
20
0
5
25

build…but is it better to change that 5 to a 10 & reduce that 25 to a 20?
20
20
0
10
20

…or even
20
20
0
15
15
?

I like to do some minimal support I guess, but not much unless it seems too good to pass up. Which is the best decision here for PVE? How good is each decision here?

What did you name your mesmer?

I named mine Louie Kazooie. He’s a Sylvari.

The name may have come from the pop culture ether somewhere (haven’t checked), but I stole it from a guildy in WoW who named his Arc Mage this…

…and the Mes is everything WoW’s Arc Mage could only dream to be.

Wello, Conditiono, Vampiro...which is for me?

Hi:

I am inquiring as to what role(s) the Necro is meant to fill in PVE (viable roles that are attractive to groups). Support, DPS, Heals…Tankage?

I am used to the cookie cutter WoW roles, so this is admittedly new to me (mindset = MAX DPS ABOVE ALL ELSE)! However, I love the Necro class, and as I level my Necro I wonder which path I should follow.

What I like about Necro: DoTs & Wells & Vampire build approaches. Where does a Conditionmancer or Wellomancer fit in? Are Conditionmancers traditionally marketed as DoT damage for groups, and Wellomancers as Healer-support for groups?

I’m just confused as to what fits the role of damage best, healing best, etc.

I realize every-man-for-himself seems to be the GW2 model, but I also realize that people don’t run around as glass cannons in GW2. So if I want to be damage-focused, are Conditions the route for me? Or…heals/support focused…do I find myself as a Wellomancer………?

Thanks, guys! Necros seem to have less written about them than their Scholar counterparts, so I am in need of a little extra help.

Thanks for your time…and please no “Spec Guardianmancer” type posts! I like muh Necro!
