I was in the same game with Vael. The issue was not AFKing, but scoring for the opposing team – at least 4-5 matches in a row, so that was intentional. In Keg brawl you cannot attack your teammate, so if he/she scores for the opposing team, there is nothing you can do.

I’m in the Cursed Shore location right now. In the “World events” section I see that there is a quest chain going on (“Gates of Arah” in my case).

How do I find the location of the current quest in the chain?

Same issue is happenning on the Kaineng server right now.

Quest “Escort Warmaster Jofast and her caravan to retake her camp” is stuck – Jofast is not going anywhere.
As a result the quest chain is blocked and it’s impossible to open the Arah gate.
