I would back this, of the overview of specs elementalist seemed the least worrying, and perhaps the least viable so some work around the arcana tree might be needed.

Also in terms of elementalist at the moment, they are basically completely replaced by shoutwarriors who have easier heals, cleanse and of course that incredible banner. There should be at least one of these things that an elementalist can do, so increasing AoE on heals also sounds good.

Then again I dont have any experience balancing a game ^^ But I do hope to see elementalists in a position where people that invested their entire GW2 career into playing them can come back with that level of gameplay for us to see again!

I think this is a very interesting way of bringing turrets back into line. A very clever change if you ask me.

It doesn’t make turret engineers unviable in pvp, this just means they have to play a little more cleverly, your classic point holder will be able to joust 1v1 vs a turret engineer and it will be a trial of skill at last!

So My Thoughts:
Trebuchet – This is one of the core features of the Dev’s defense against the stream teams big group up and push tactics. Also it respawns pretty quickly, so the only effective way to deal with it is to harass the enemy off the treb, which isn’t easy if they have turrets protecting them while on sentinels amulet ^^

Mobility – I think if you don’t invest in mobility you will be greatly hindered. Even if you chose to group up rather than have distinct roles this map is incredibly long, especially in the late game. Also objectives are spread evenly across the entire map. Say you are distracted by a skirmish 10 seconds before the buff. If you have no mobility that is a free score for the enemy team.

Supply Runner – This was the most tentative of my roles. Even I myself didn’t believe it was a good idea until I tried it. As I say in the video, this roll only takes you through the first part of the game. After that you usually take the place of another damage dealer, but of the sneaky variety. With a Shadow Arts thief I actually solo’d the enemy lord while distracting another enemy player or two. I name them carriers because when they transition they have the potential to carry the game.

Roamer/Ganker – This is perhaps the role I was most excited about and will explain again. If you group up it is physically impossible to get every objective, so that is not an option. If you send 1 away while you group up then there is your target. And yes, 1 solo bunker wont instantly die to a DPS burst. But they wont be able to kill the roamer themselves. You either force a rotation (making another place on the map vulnerable) or you eventually kill them.

PvE Race Mentality – I am not sure as to the level you played at, but after watching back the games participated in by teams of equal and incredibly high skill players Lord Defending appeared easy. Which means after both gates are down there is no “pve race”, only a PvP race, as kills along with whoever wins the teamfight for the lord buff will conclude the match

Tactics – I am talking here about roles and roles alone. I know this will not encompass every tactic in the gamemode (such as spawning 10 DBs at once for a big push). But this is for your generic match, it is primarily for teams of solo queuers in order for people to have roles in the battlefield ^^ I know the teams of 5 top league players will be able to form complex strategies, I do not intend for this to be a basis for them. Rather a placeholder for the meta xD

Hi there buddy, I am the caster / creator of a 1v1 weekly tournament that has its Monthly Grand final coming this saturday.

I cast & stream it, have a good viewer and player base already and lack but 1 thing. Admins/Mods.

We need people to help run the tournament and to help develop it, new ideas are more than welcome seeing as I have become increasingly busy in terms of casting since I took on a reserve role for ESL.

While counterbuilding will always be an issue in tournaments such as these all it will do is give you a slight advantage. Currently I haven’t seen 1 counterbuild and the tournament has only been won or loss by good plays or misplays

@Saiyan, the last tournament lasted 3 hours… so a round robin is out of the question in terms of duration alone sadly. Otherwise this is a great idea

Like I am saying, I know 1v1 is flawed, although the community around it currently is a lot of fun

But this thread is primarily designed to hopefully get some more 5v5 tournaments going… Or at least show the community that there is interest for such a thing

In the 1v1 you are locked into a character (so therefore a class) for the entire month. This way you can’t cheese so easily as there will be at least 1 thing your build cant handle

Quick introduction, I am relatively new to the Guild Wars 2 competitive scene (caster not player) but only really see the Go4GW2 and ESL weekly cups going around both with roughly the same teams competing. I would love for this to become more diverse.

1v1 Tournament:
I recently began organizing/casting a 1v1 tournament held with friends and a few invited random players. This started as a 1 off but now we are running a weekly version with monthly finals (I basically copied how Go4GW2 is ran sorry guys haha). Prizes are given (20g for a weekly winner, more for monthly) and each match is held on Saturday 6PM GMT. We have had such good reception about this that I would love to expand it. We are looking for more people interested in competing (be warned there is a 1g fee for the month of tournaments) and probably more importantly we need tournament admins as I have 0 experience in running tournaments (but was an E-sports caster of another game for a year or so).

Further Tournaments:
As some people that have spoken to me understand, it was not my intention to become the caster of a long series of 1v1 tournaments. I intend to be casting 5v5 (especially stronghold when it appears!).
The only issue is, there are no other tournaments to be casting, at least not to my knowledge. Now I struggled enough organising this 1v1 tournament so I will not be taking that burden on myself, but feel free to use this space to debate, create and organise any fresh tournaments. The game which I come from has so many tournaments that there is actually a lack of casters (even when we cast for about 12 hours a day!) and it really did improve/develop/grow the E-sports community there.

Any/all input appreciated guys!
