The difference is that you can’t really control 1 mob an entire fight by yourself like you could with sheeps or traps.

No, please don’t remove the piercing attacks. It’s about the only fun I get out of my necromancer, being able to line up mobs with my marks and wells, and then hitting 5 together with my ‘1’ attack, it’s awesome.
It makes me think about my position and has me move around constantly finding the best angle, which honestly isn’t THAT hard.
Same goes for DS piercing attacks.
If they were to simply bounce between enemies, or have an AOE component to em, you could just mash 1 with your eyes closed and kill everything in sight (no pun intended), which imo is extremely boring.

Actually, staff and DS (everything, except Doom) are the only movesets I find to be balanced, maybe dagger MH as well but they lack conditions. All other weapons feel very underwhelming compared to what I can pull off with my staff.

I love dungeons...and here's why.

All bosses are perfectly doable in 1 shot without zerging, if you zerg, you choose to zerg, and then you come complain that you HAD to zerg, instead you could regroup, figure out what went wrong, fix it, and go again.

But I guess creative thinking is too much to ask for.

If normal hits crush you in 2 hits, then there’s obviously a problem with you either not gearing or speccing for ANY defence or simply not reacting to it.
OR they are not “normal hits” but things you can perfectly avoid.

Did you know weakness causes 50% of hits to be glancing blows, which in turn do 50% less damage, so overall that’s 25% less damage.
Did you know that blind makes almost EVERY attack miss?
Did you know Daze interrupts attacks and roots mobs into place (not sure on the root, but still)
Did you know chill makes the cooldown on abilities go 66% slower?
Did you know you can use combofields to give buffs to your ENTIRE party? Like I don’t know, regen, might, aegis, swiftness and so on for everyone.
The list goes on..

If you just stack debuffs on a boss, instead of doing “maximum dps for shorter fights” and help your team out with buffs, then the fights are perfectly doable as long as you time your dodges etc right.

Yeah it sounds like awesome game design that you NEED a mesmer to go past those two groups.

This is ONE of the ways you can do it, my group simply chilled/immobilized/snared the entire group and killed em slowly with a lot of kiting.
Hard, but very doable.
So yea, it’s awesome design that you can do encounters different ways.
Even trash, because who ever said that trash has to be trivial? Heck, I’ve found some trashpacks to be more difficult than some bosses but that’s the beauty of it, it means you always have to be on your toes instead of mindlessly spamming a max dps rotation.

It’s not Arenanet’s fault that people can’t think outside of the box.
