How much Ram Memory do you have?
I have a mid-2012 MacBook Pro, initially comes with 4GB of Ram. I recently upgraded my Ram to 16GB and although, I still do not get very good frame-rates (20~30), I load in much (much!) faster. Could be just that. If you have 4GB, its not enough no more.
P.s. and 8GB upgrade will cost you around $80 and will help with all applications.

It’s not the RAM, it’s the hard drive that slows down the game. The new client reads tons of data from the hard-disk.
Old client: 2 hours of play, 1.5 GB of data read from the hard-disk
New client: 25 minutes of play, 40 GB of data read from the hard-disk.
ArenaNet forgot that the new low entry iMac 2017 still has a 5400 rpm HD :-)

The 64bit launcher just downloaded an update, but I can’t find any changelog right now.
Let’s hope in some bug fix!

It still loads tons of data from the harddisk.

I’ve only entered in the game with both client and with Activity Monitor on:
32 bit: Bytes Read = 468.5 MB
64 bit: Bytes Read = 5.26 GB.

Just only for that reason, the 64 bit client is still unusable for me.

I hope they will fix that soon.

Would it be possible to have a summary of known bugs and on which you are actually working ?

Who do you think you are to ask so much effort? Someone who is doing their job for free? =:-D

I’m wondering if a lot of the performance issues I’m having may relate to the constant high disk reads by the client ranging from 20MB/s upwards of 80MB/s. It’s like it’s trying to put the whole dat file into ram and then compress the ram and then do it over again – pretty weird. I haven’t observed any write operations thus far I don’t think.

I did check activity monitor after playing for a bit (don’t remember just how long, but had to be less than an hour based on avg. crash frequency) to find 84gigs of data read by the client just playing EBG – single map.

Same here. I’m still using the old client, because it is impossible to play with a game that load 40GB of data in 10 minuts of playing. It’s a pity, because the old client makes the fans of my old iMac screaming in pain due the overuse of CPU :-)

Hi, first of all, I like to thanks the team for the work they are doing.
I find the new client much better than the old one, and until now I didn’t have any crash or major problems.

But I have very bad performance from the new game client, and I think that are due to the costant access to the hard-disk. When I play I can see the game is costantly reading from the disk. I mean fixed on reading. Only when my character is perfectly still, the disk finally stopt after 30 / 90 sec. But then it restarts if I make even a little move.

If you monitor the disk usage with Activity Monitor you can see the huge amount of data the game is reading from the disk (20/30x compared to the old game client).

I made a small log when I played last time:
Game started (login page) – 63 MB
Character selection screen loaded – 386 MB
Queensdale loaded – 3.32 GB
I’ve walked to Claypool – 5.11 GB
New world zone loaded (Kessex Hills) – 7.69 GB
I’ve walked to Wallwatcher Camp – 8.56 GB

Hello. I did a little experiment.
I used Activity Monitor to track the disk activity and I started the game and log my character with the old client and the new client.
Look the byte read!!! No wonder it took age to load the game with the new client.

My mac: iMac mid-2010 4gb memory – ATI Radeon HD 4670 256 MB
