4th hop telenet…..
If you connect to any server in Frankfurt you will have the same problem such as running a speed test to a server in Frankfurt. If you run a local speed test or connect to a server located somewhere else you won’t necessarily have an issue (unless of course there are issues along your route to severs in another city as well)
Thank you for replying.
It would indeed seem like the 4th hop is the chokepoint, but like I’ve mentioned in my post, it doesn’t seem to impact my ping at all sometimes.
That’s why I’d need a more in depth analysis.
I’ll provide another screenshot of a live pingplotter test while also showing the ping in game. I had no latency issues whatsoever but the test still shows a 40% PL.
Occasional lag spikes or consistent high ping

Hey,
I apologise for the wall of text but there’s quite a history to my issue and I want to provide as much information as possible.
Starting about a month ago I’ve been getting a consistent high ping during (but not exclusive to) evening rush hour (EU). This is wasn’t guaranteed to happen every day though but happened across all game modes and was also exclusive to GW2.
It got gradually worse though and I read up on some forum posts. Those suggested using PingPlotter and contacting your ISP.
The PingPlotter result showed a consistent high PL at the second node in my ISP’s network, sometimes ludicriously high. It varied from 12% to 60% but somehow it didn’t seem to affect my ping all the time. It also occured on other devices or when I directly connected through my modem.
This really confused me and I sent the results to their customer support. Eventually, after a lot of back and forth and them asking if it might be my installation at home, they sent a mechanic.
He had a look at everything; the modem, the powerline adapters, the wiring leading outside to the street. He did install a filter outside since he saw my outgoing data was a bit low, and I replaced my powerline adapters to more stable and better ones. My download speed has increased with those, so has the stability but not for GW2 unfortunately. To me that eliminates them from the culprit, or anything else on my end.
He also ran some ping tests and found nothing wrong, he said they tested their internal network and everything was fine, and suggested I could update my drivers. I also got pointed out that I’m not the only one playing GW2 on their network, which is a fair point. So I let him go and did as he suggested, tried to wait it out and it improved for a few days, but all the problems returned eventually.
Especially after the quarterly update, on top of the issues I’ve been having, I occasionally have 1k+ ping spikes and a full d/c here and there.
Most of the time I was the only one in my group/guild experiencing this issue.
I’ve tested several of their servers and some seem to have less data loss but the majority does.
The reason for posting this now is that I want to enjoy the new PvP season but I got a consistent 200 ping and a d/c while doing a fractal today, after the patch.
I’m honestly considering just quitting GW2 because of this whole ordeal. I love this game to bits but seeing as there’s nobody who can give a distinct explaination and the problem is confined to just GW2, I’m close to giving up on it.
I can of course change ISP but that seems pretty extreme just because I can’t play one game, and it doesn’t guarantee a fix. Because of my home situation it’d also just be too much of a hassle.
I’ve read most posts and replies on latency related threads, but they didn’t quite help me. I will provide images of both a pingplotter test and WinMTR from this evening to see if someone of you can help me and give some thorough insight. It’d be greatly appreciated!

I’m stuck as well in Spirit Watch. Thanks in advance for resolving the issue.
