Hello GW2 fans,

While I welcome comments and questions by players, this post is directed mainly towards our biggest fans at Arena Net:

Recently, I posted my findings on Dynamic Level Adjustment (DLA). Please read this page to understand how to exactly (not approximately) calculate attributes after scaling:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Dynamic-Level-Adjustment-1/first#post1319732

I have separated that post from the purpose of this one, which is to understand what changes have been made to DLA in the January 28, 2012 update. Please see the following:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Game-Update-Notes-January-28-2013/first#post1313158

The results presented in my spreadsheet explain DLA before the update. However, they also explain how DLA works after it. Since Monday night, I have increased the number of post-patch tests to 20+ areas. I have confirmed that no changes have been made to attribute values themselves. The only thoughts I can concede would be changes to the damage forumlae or to the stats of monsters.

Because the value of attributes are identical (in all areas) after the update, the community would be interested in elucidating the new changes to DLA in depth. We would benefit greatly from the feedback and discussion by folks at Arena Net.

Thank you for reading, and may all of your steps continue to be relentless.

Hello GW2 fans,

This is my first post on the forums, so please be encouraging. Four weeks ago, I was interested in how Dynamic Level Adjustment (DLA) works. I am happy to say that we are now able to fully understand and predict attribute scaling. These findings will hopefully add to the community discussion about PvE and Dungeon preparation. The linked Excel file contains the required table and notes, and a brief summary is included below.

Method and How To Use:

My results on DLA are rooted in data collection. A large sample of zones (30+) were used on my characters (and those of guild members) to discover the pattern and eventually show its consistency throughout the game. All zones that scale your character to a given level scale your character’s stats equally.

To predict your scaled stats, cross-reference the appropriate DLA factor. First, choose the column that represents your character’s current, unscaled level. Then choose the row that represents the level your character will be in a given zone (e.g. level 35 in AC exp). Take the value you cross-reference and divide all of your stats by that number (apart from boon duration and condition duration, which remain constants across all effective levels). You are finished; it’s as simple as that! Calculations are exact after rounding (they are not approximations).

The notes describe how the factors were generated. Summarized here, every primary attribute (Power, Precision, Toughness, and Vitality) goes up in equal amounts when leveling; the actual amount is level-dependent. At each level, every profession has the same base primary attribute rating (e.g. 916 at level 80). DLA simply takes the base rating at your current level and divides it by the base rating at a given lower level. These are the numbers presented in the table.

While I am completely confident in this work’s accuracy, please feel free to share your numbers, especially if you have questions.

Thank you for your time all! May your steps continue to be relentless.
