Yep. using the VPN worked. Kinda hope it gets fixed soon anyway , this is a huge problem for oceania players that shouldn’t be overlooked.

If you want to debug the problem, use the -log option, then post the log file (%appdata%/Guild Wars 2/Gw2.log) as an attachment. It’ll tell you which file it’s failing to download, which you can try downloading through your browser to see how it’s being manipulated. Alternatively, you could use my launcher to see exactly what it’s downloading by using the tools / asset server proxy and caching options.
As someone who doesn’t know much about computers, this doesnt help very much. Step by step for dummies would be good. Il try the VPN option Jinx suggested
“Alternatively, you can manually try a different patch server. Open the folder where Gw2-64.exe is located, append the following to the end of the address bar and press enter to launch GW2:
\Gw2-64.exe -assetsrv 64.25.41.2"
How do i do this? What does append mean.

Seems im not the only one having this problem… probably from Arenanet’s end? it would be nice if it was on my end so i could fix it and start playing.

tried reinstalling again. The game downloads fine till 31%, which is where the ‘playable’ arrow is. once it reaches this point, the download speed falls dramatically to 0kbps, and after a while the “connection error(s) detected, retrying” popup flickers on the screen.

Gets stuck at 31% and “connection error(s) detected” flickers on the screen. If i force close the installer and then open it again, the download is at 0 kbps and nothing downloads.
The game is amazingly made, but the support team really needs to get their act together. I wonder if it has anything to do with the holiday season right now. Or maybe there are a whole lot of wrongly banned cases to get through.
Anyway, it has been at least 4 days since my banned friend has sent in his ticket about this issue. With the other guy who got banned for gold selling, it was resolved within 3 hours
Wrongly accused of gold selling and receiving perma ban.
This has happened to a friend, not to me. He is unable to come here to ask for help.

Edit: He sent in another ticket update stating the following :
One of my Guild Mates mailed me Gold before to help me purchase an item, the Legendary Precursor, The Colossus.
Once I have earned enough Gold, I returned the amount he sent me.
The person involved is my Guildmate.
I am now assuming that the sending of Gold got me banned?
In that case, why does Anet even allow the sending of Gold? I do not understand, but I do understand that this is clearly not illegal as no monetary was profited from it from either of us, and we are FRIENDS, Guild mates even.
Could you kindly, kindly please help me resolve this.
