This thread is a troll-magnet, through and through. From both sides of the fence; masculinity/gamer/hard case vs. distorted perception of reality/defense of what society deems “feminine”/general opposition of a simplistic view. Quite hilarious, actually. I got a good read, plenty of drama for my day, and lost a few calories laughing. Surely, I’m not alone on that.

That said, here’s the bottom line: who cares? Isn’t everything on any topic relative to one’s own opinion? So what if there are not simply 2 sides. Maybe there are 20, perhaps 200. No one party here is “right” or “wrong” for their way of viewing the content they wish to see in-game. No amount of kittening, whining, trolling, “fact-producing”, or otherwise useless exercises will change that fact. OP clearly stated the intent, and the masses agree that answers to his questions were given. Hell, even my reply right now is moot, since it’s an open and shut case already.

The 2 most common responses are both undeniably real and fair: you either love and embrace what currently is, and for the reasons (whether they elude you or not [pun intended])…OR: you’d have liked to see a different motif/cholorscheme/effect used. In the end, a few have stated already, it doesn’t matter; ArenaNet won’t be changing it. We could all unanimously poll, vote, and even go as far as to quit playing – it still won’t change. Why? Obvious: you already paid for the game AND service. You’ve made a non-refundable investment (and quite a small one in reality) into something that took more time, imagination, money, and motivation than anyone in this thread would ever be able to muster. I don’t care what your education background (or foreground) is.

I say kudos to AN for making something that in a big way has caused MMOs to re-emerge into the scene . People like myself, who rage-quit WoW because it became “nerf this” and “buff that” every other kittened week. Now, I’m playing a game that rarely changes in ways that adversely affect either my playstyle or my goals for the game itself. That pleases me.

So who really gives a rat’s kitten if something as trivial as an animation you almost never have time to sit and stare at anyway is being used?

Been watching these over the past day to keep myself from falling asleep at work. Fantastic information, and I agree with the masses on all counts.

I, too, vote for a video on build reviews for different mechanics (Support spec, DPS spec, which traits/which gear attributes to focus on). I know they say one doesn’t need a “role” in this game, like traditional MMOs, but to some extent it is nice for varying reasons.

Unable to assign points accumulated so far after establishing guild

A couple friends any myself established ourselves as an official guild. Registered, and all that jazz. We’ve been operating as such for about 2 weeks now, and even though we have gained over 700 points, our leader is not able to assign them to anything. We wanted 1st tier in Politics (in particular), but he’s unable to apply them to anything.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what did you do to get past it?

-Our guild leader has contacted AN, they have shrugged him off; stating that we weren’t the only ones with that issue, and that it’s “being addressed” already.-

Necromancer for PVE?

I’d go ele if you are looking for more of a caster. My understanding (I have not played one yet) is that they are better for that. Necros tend to be coined “conditionmancers” or can be used in a support spec (fast on their feet, and quick to heal). I personally am experimenting with conditionmancer. One thing is for sure, everyone’s got their own opinion as to what is what. Based on your initial query, though, I’d go for ele.

I just created a mesmer the other day, and leveled it to 5. Such a fun profession.

I’ve done a ton of Googling, and the results are vague; I am not seeing a direct route to do this, so that I can actually run with my friend in that area.
