What started the WvW decline

1. EotM is the worst thing to happen to WvW ever.
My friend who just purchased the game got to level 80 in 3 days there… i’m sorry but that is so game breaking and unfair to the people who truly had to grind it. I wonder why this is not considered some kinda PvE event rather than a WvW one since you fight NPC’s more then other players seems a better way to categorize it. You earn exp, WvW exp, and loot way to fast i have gone up 30 WvW ranks in a few days in normal WvW that would not be possible, so you have destroyed the ranking system that let us know if a player has experience doing it or not…thanks. Hardly anyone on my server is doing WvW anymore cant find 1 commander or group(later hours at least), meanwhile if i go to EotM I’m put into one of the overflow servers that is still packed with several commanders on screen and tons of players after the $ train….so thats where all the WvW players are now. Now a few complaints about the map itself, its so linear it makes me sick one wrong step off the path and back to the start(that’s probably the most challenging thing about the map), get in a fight with another group and always have a death fall close by…good idea. NO MIDDLE SPAWN POINTS….EB has sm so cmon.

Ways to fix it? NERF NERF NERF…. The map should become a top part of the normal WvW zones and when you fall you enter the other map and if you miss water or try to land inside enemy keeps die. Another better option, only allow access to EotM if a map you desire is full and you must wait to join, then it forces you to join that map automatically when its available.(Honestly when i heard of EotM i thought this was its purpose to allow you to play some when the WvW maps were full)

2. Duel system
I know we already have PvP, but it lacks the true feeling you have playing outside of it in normal PvE and WvW zones. I really don’t appreciate having to develop two different styles of playing just so i can 1v1 someone when it could be the same if the gear/stats matched. So why cant we have a simple Duel system so we can fight another player wherever they are and what ever level they are or area scales too. This would be most beneficial for WvW since alot of the players their would accept duels more-so then PvE players and they don’t have to change their gear or play style to accomplish it. Furthermore PvPers would be more interested in WvW since it would have some form of PvP action but different entirely from what they are use to. Lastly you could sell a permanent item to initiate Dual challenges from the gem store so anet would be happy about it and i know i’d buy it.

Noticed there was a flute song list but no horn and i think there notes work slightly differently. If you have written a song for the Horn please post it here. I also used my own type of music sheet format for these 1-8# songs but the forums wont accept alt-codes

You know i actually don’t mind criticism towards my build(it helps me to improve it), but it works better when its logical reasons. IDK what your definition of “Most of them” means and i’m no mathematician, but after counting there was 9 level 80s and only 6 level 80 up’s so “Most of them” were 80 also i didnt even check when making it if they were or not(next time only level 80s to make you happy?). Also my damage to ambient creatures, npcs or w/e is incredible, i normally have to hold back because i drop them so quick no one else will get credit for the kill.

Also just got my Crystalline Band so now my Crit damage is 108% and 118% with food.

Looked at the Battle Roar is kinda nice. Like the recast time and boosts allies, but has a short 6 1/2 secs +20% crit chance vs the Rampage As One 22 secs. I do dislike the Rampage As One recast times but seems like the better choice.

Really i think Hidden Pistol was one of the best things i just added to this build, it gives me a good evade which also inflicts damage and because this build deals more damage when Endurance is full allows me to stay at peak damage longer.

Thanks for the info a lot to think on.
About the Crit Damage i’m currently still missing 3 daily items, with them would bring me up to 110% without food buffs(this is not a quick build takes time) with food 120%.

Have never used Battle Roar must be a Axe/Warhorn thing.(will consider it for testing later).

About the Celestial weps i really was unaware they gave better stats(will check em out) might work on them next if its not to hard.

Based on what ur both saying i should drop the Spirit build part and go for more dodge with Lightning Reflexes not a bad idea. My only dislike of that skill is the recharge time
40 secs.
What about using Hidden Pistol? is only 15 secs(edit* been using it kinda love it now)

Also since i can change my Nature Magic traits whats best to use? going to use Natures Protection for now.

One last thing about my healing i have been using both Heal As One and Healing Spring. I like the springs removing effect and heals for allies but heals for less and takes longer to recast. Hard to choose.

Thanks for the reply the only reason i’m questioning its usefulness is since i can down some very quickly and it only adds up to say 400-500 damage. Thought the Comps Might could maybe yield more in the long run but the pets primary attack in this build is its first few hits so Pet Prowess sounded interesting also if it stacks on it. I’m still using Sharp Edges for now tho.

Not to sure about Primal Reflexes might give it a try

I find this build is challenging to survive sometimes but that also is what i like most about it kinda.

I think i will use that also for now since it is a constant buff rather then the 15 sec 6 stacks of might still a hard choice.

Still no one has any thought on what to change Sharpened Edges to? or if i should even bother changing it? I’m leaning towards the Companions Might maybe since i have low bleed damage.

I might give that a try sometime still kinda new to the game(only had few months) have not given them a chance yet really but i’m loving the GS… i use to be a LB/SB ranger but after all the nerfing decided to go this route and GS Swoop is my favorite move now XD.

The thing about the poison damage and even my Sharpened Edges bleed damage trait is i don’t have very high Condition Damage its only 123 making both skills border line useless to me kinda. Do you think i should change that also?.

Yeah i should use 5 more is very useful. I don’t use my pets very well in battle but the Jags stealth for the opening hit is useful and the Wolf’s howl when you go down early can be a life saver.

I questioned using the spirit also but from what i read about it is required to do best damage(might be wrong on that) since the trait Vigorous Spirits will boost spirits 35% and the Frost Spirit gives 35% chance for 10% bonus damage it really has 70% chance. Not to sure on its max range or how to see the difference in battle.

About the 5% range i think you are kinda right. But which would really be better the Beastmaster Bond or Might i’m thinking Might but my pet does get killed often making Bond kinda useful. And also the Piercing Arrows i did use but with this build i seem to be favoring the GS more now.\

As for dungeons it works well on many but a few where you must hold capture points can be a challenge with its low defense.

More people need to learn how to evade and not rely on defensive builds.

BTW anyone saying this is a 5v1 fight at 10Secs in a THF appears behind me then quickly runs. Again at 21 secs in another enemy player is targeting me. So everyone saying this was a 5v1 not a 5v3 fight please get your eyes checked XD

PS.. i’d almost consider this 4v3 also since 1 is the sentry and only 4 players but w/e and one of the player’s, Leader of T T O F, is only level 19 during this fight.

Yeah i thought it was pretty funny. Me and this small group we trying to lure people out from the base behind the sentry since AC’s prevented us from getting close.

Yes this is also my issue with Ranger atm. I use to run with SB/LB but after nerfs i dropped it and completely redid my skills for max crit with GS/LB. Honestly i’m having more fun with this setup also then i did with SB/LB, i can 1-shot people with a 15k hit from GS or do a rapid fire for around the same with LB.

Still the fact that “Rangers” a job that should be “ranged attacked heavy” must now use GS over a ranged set up because of nerfs points out the many flaws that still exist for the job.

PS.. i use to play a game called Final Fantasy 11 and we also had a Ranger job class that only used bow’s and a job class that used axes and charmed/controlled pets Beastmaster. GW2’s Ranger is like a combination of the 2 but lacks the power they had in FF11.

Really ranger is missing so much with the pets and with new leash laws make them even less fun.
1. Give pets there own level up system to make them worthy opponents(this would make many work hard to make all there pets stronger), including swap-able skill sets earned as they level.
2. More then F1-F4, Id like at least F1-F8 utilized(Some easy to add extra skills could be Fetch-picks up items or loot, Stay-much like the guard skill but no stat boost, Heal-revive other players or NPC… make em more useful).
3. I use LB/SB but i don’t even really want the legendary’s because they do not look very good compared to almost any other. I’d rather have the arachnophobia over the dreamer for looks but it has no cool effects. And i’m still trying to find a longbow i don’t completely hate… Better legendary Bows Designs Please!

I don’t really think Durzlla is exactly spreading misinformation Aridia, but i do find it somewhat confusing here is a better way to think of it.

Before the patch imagine your dog had an actual leash on it with a chain at the old distance, what happened was you got in range to release it from that chain and attack without any type of leash on it after the fact.

Now it’s more like using a retractable leash giving it a greater start attack range(still not sure about that), but more shockingly it does not release pet from it after starting the attack and seems to run out of chain length fast pulling it back to you.

I hope they removed the Guard Skill ranger had for pet it also seems useless now not that i used much before, but i always hoped it would become a standard pet move rather then a skill.

Another example of why this is broken comes to mind. Lets say your outside of Greenvale Refuge and there is an enemy on top of the entrance. Really he is just a stones throw away from you… In the past my wolf would run up there and start attacking them but now since that requires it to leave my range limit temporarily that’s not possible.

Really i understand the need to limit the distance somehow but a timer that starts when it goes out of your range would have been a much smarter move.

Yeah some are better then others but i really liked the Wolf’s F2 Howl move and its knock down ability. My backup pet is a Jungle Spider because it binds when it hits, its ranged, it borrows away when attacked. But that was my 2nd choice for it XD

yeah Durzlla the 1sec outta combat makes sense. So what i imagine that changed is before i was technically out of combat, only sending in my pet to fight so the 1Sec change applied. Now when it goes in it considers you in combat also i’m guessing.

I have been using F1 the whole time and i’m pretty sure the distance is now lower at least seemed like it. Not sure what “the downside your pet will no longer chase your target to the ends of the earth.” is referring to, but that is basically my issue it wont go to them far enough anymore.

As for the pet swapping it use to work like this for me at least. If your pet died 60 sec wait for it, if you swapped it before death then you could swap it back at full HP few secs later not 20. Now there is 3 possible swap times i see the 60 sec for death, 20 Sec for injured, and 1 sec for full HP.

Possible pet bug in WvW?

I have seen this before with my pet also, only once or twice tho. I could send it into a Fort to attack other players or siege, but is a very rare occurrence the game probably glitched a sec from to many players in WvW.

I have been playing this game a few months now and spent a lot of time in WvW with my ranger. Ranger has never felt like a tank in WvW and my build is all about crit damage/ evading to survive i manage with under 18k HP mostly.

Till now my pet has been a very important aspect of how i was fighting or controlling enemy crowds movements, but with recent updates almost completely nerfing the distance it can travel from you and respawn times changes i’m now at a disadvantage using it.

Here’s an example of what i mean, I use to be able to be a considerable distance(safe) from a target to send my wolf in just to Howl(causes fear) to push back enemy’s grouping in a spot(this can be extremely useful). Now i must get close enough that i could easily get ganged up on and killed making the option pointless.

Another example i use to be able to send in my Wolf till it was near death then switch to my backup pet then almost instantly back to wolf at full HP. Now if your pet has slight damage and you try to switch a 20Sec wait time will come up. I kinda understand why this should be done, but this has dramatically changed how i use the pet in WvW or elsewhere now.

Also the pet was a good distraction if you wanted to get away quick while others fought it, but now since it cant be far from you also pointless.

So my point is these things were not really game breaking in anyways since the pet is a minor inconvenience at best not really a way to kill others.
And is the ranger really so powerful that it needs nerfing of any kind?
It needs to be boosted a lot more IMO

I’m a Charr, with these wings when i run on all 4’s they tilt to the left constantly and the animation seems very off going through my left arm sometimes.

After checking out the original Holographic Dragon Wings i decided to work on getting the new Hologram shattered dragon wings, but after the long wait i’m slightly disappointed with several things.

First off the animation compared to the originals is completely different and a little off balance looking, this is noticeable when running.

They do not appear on my characters preview even thought i have them equipped(neither the Hero menu or log-in menu)

They disappear when you start another animation such as dancing.

These 3 reasons mainly make me wonder if any other Skin can do these things, since this is my first Skin back item i have no idea.
