I guess I just limited myself to the ranger or mesmer…in any case, if you guys think I should try one of the classes above again because of something I might have missed, or maybe you see something that I might actually enjoy, don’t be afraid to mention it. I’m open to all ideas.
I recently got my guardian to 80, and I like that the class is group oriented. However, it seems that it being group oriented is also a downside since its power diminishes with the lower amount of people that are around you.
With that being said, I’d like to pick a new class to experiment with, but I’m not sure which one to go with. I prefer PvE play, and like the feature that the thief has where none of the abilities have cooldowns, however the d/p combo makes the game too easy, and I want a bit of a challenge. I’m super excited for the Revenant to come out, yet until then, I was wondering what you guys might suggest.
Like I said before, I prefer pve style gameplay. I don’t mind pinholing myself into berserker builds. I just want a class that isn’t completely based on the people I’m involved with. I don’t mind classes like the elementalist and engineer, though I’d prefer to stay away from them because of how complex they are. Warriors are kinda faceroll for me, and boring. Necromancers seem kinda fun, though their slow movement speed and reliance on conditions kinda ruin it for me.
Any thoughts?
Thank you in advance

I can utilize any class, and if you guys need me to learn something I haven’t done before, I’m pretty sure I can figure it out.
So, a friend of mine is going to make a necromancer, and I’ve been playing the game for a while, but I don’t much know how to mesh with that. I don’t know the pros and cons of a necro, and I’m not sure what class would fill in for what a necro couldn’t do.
As far as I know from my experience with necromancers in day to day gameplay, they’re essentially glass cannons, less than an elementalist, but they lack gap closers like eles.
Got any advice guys? Oh, and I’m comfortable with all of the classes, so, know need to ask what my favorites are. I’m just looking for pros and cons and what works for this.
Thank you in advance.
The warrior has a regen signet, trait that gives regen based on adrenaline, and additional heals through utilities and traits. People know warriors to be darn good front line fighters in that they can take damage and keep on taking it.
I don’t know much about guardians, but I do know this. They have passive regen as an innate ability. They have a bubble that comes up every 40 seconds…more or less. They have a heal that blocks while they heal, and in order for their utilities to heal them, they have to trait for it, just like warriors.
Yet, somehow, warriors are seen as the better front line guys to go with.
I don’t understand why guardians fall short in the least, and I’d like some assistance in finding a guardian build that revolves around essentially outlasting your opponent. Is it possible? Something else I’d like to work my way passed is the range hindrance guardians have. It seems the only two ranged weapons they have are the scepter (which isn’t too reliable besides abilities 2 and 3), and the staff, which really isn’t a ranged weapon at all.
Note: If any of my information is false, please, dear god, please…prove me wrong. I love paladin-esq classes, and guardian is so…just in that area, that I very much want for this to work. Oh, and I like all of the weapons, and see the usefulness of all of them, so asking about my favorite combat style with the guardian is kind of…pointless. If I wanted full melee, I’d go GS/Hammer simply because they solve the pros and cons of each other. For everything else, I’m sure I could figure that out as well.
