When you say you die 10 times for one kill I don’t think it’s a viable build.
Everyone likes big numbers but it comes at a cost. This isn’t a balanced build as you don’t have any durability nor mobility.

I’ve tried posting some necro vids in the past myself but I simply can’t anymore cause there isn’t a viable solo roaming build out there atm. No way you win against a good Ele or a good mesmer these days. Other classes as the Warrior or Guardian (thief) can just unleash everything they got on you and when kitten hits the fan they run away like nothing happened. If you’re lucky to put any condi pressure on them that is, cause they cleanse everything off so easily.

Now I’m sorry but I disagree 100%. I only play Condi Necro since I just don’t enjoy the skills on the Axe/Dagger power builds… but I run the very basic 30/20/0/0/20 Condi build.. and mostly all I do is solo roam.. and I do amazing. And I’m not even good.. Of course I lose a few 1v1s.. but a few.. only times I really die are when there are more than 2 people or I just panic or the enemy is simply better.. but you are very wrong when you say there are no viable roaming builds.. hell, this build hes running in the video.. is fine. He even said it himself.. hes not very good. So him dying 10 times for 1 kill.. I mean I don’t want to bash the OP’s skill but he said it himself. Its the player not the build, which I think applies to you.

You should probably mention whether you’re on EU or US servers, as you can only guest within these two groups, not between them. (I don’t know by heart whether Henge of Denravi is EU or US.)

Oh well just figured anyone whose on US would know Henge of Denravi is US if they were WvWers like me but I guess since I’m asking about PvE, then lol not everyone would know.

So posted this in the Dungeons forum as well but posting here too since it applies more to this forum.

So just making this post in hopes of finding some people to do a few (or many) dungeons or Fractals with me this weekend, starting as soon as you PM me in game! I’m new to PvE as I’m a WvW player and only have a few weeks left until my deployment, so I want to experience as much PvE in the next three weeks as possible! I don’t have a PvE set currently but I have the gold to buy it all once I figure out which build to do. (I’m a Necro so there are a few I could like Zerker or Tank) So hit me up in game anytime today if you want to run some dungeons or fractals. Note that I’m new to them so I’d need some learning but I feel confident that I’ll do fine once I know any boss mechanics. I’d prefer if we were in a Teamspeak or something so its easier to communicate. I’m on HoD server but I can guest anywhere so that does not matter much. I’ll be on in ~30 mins so pm me if you want to do some PvE.

So being quite new to the game the last post I well posted was regarding builds to use for WvW. I’ve got my build I love playing for WvW and now want to branch out into Dungeons and possibly Fractals a bit. I’ve been hearing for Necros its best to go for a Tank/Condi damage route, but what other builds are effective? I think I might prefer to do Fractals but it really will depend on what I find groups for that even want a Necro. So, what build are you using for Dungeons?

Helloooooo. So I have been playing GW2 for about 2 weeks now. Mostly been doing WvW on my Thief and now Necro. I enjoy playing my Necro more and want to start getting into dungeons. Currently I’ve got mostly Rabid gear, Carrion Weapons, and Carrion Trinkets. And I’m not going to get into any build arguments in PvE, but I’m planning on buying a Zerker set since I HEAR going with a Zerker Wells build is is very strong for dungeons.

BUT!

Back story over, here is what this post is about. I’ve heard mixed things about PvE in this game. I’ve heard its good, but mostly heard that most groups are VERY unforgiving when it comes to new/bad players or people running unorthodox builds. Now I usually run the cookie cutter best builds in all mmos, and despite not being bad, I am new. And currently I am on HoD server, which means not AS many people to run dungeons with since I transferred here for WvW and it seems to be more WvW oriented. I’ve also heard that pugging via the LFG can be frustrating and I’d hate to be THAT guy that comes into a dungeon new, and having no clue what to do. I’d HATE spending hours on some easy boss or the group falling apart due to this fact.

So basically what I am looking for, is I guess some people to start running a few dungeons with? Preferably on HoD but I guess I can just guest to your server? Note i’m not looking to be carried. But I just feel that in my current situation, I don’t want to even think about pugging until I at least know a few of the dungeons. And I COULD check dungeon guides and then go into LFG, but the same thing applies, I’m new. And I’m one of those people that needs to see content first before really understanding it, like I expect most people to be. So again, just looking for someone or hell even a few people that would be willing to help me through a few dungeons or possibly Fractals (still not 100% sure what these are about). I can provide the gear/food needed and thanks to spending pretty much every waking moment in WvW. I have a decent understanding of how my Necro works so I feel I will not be too much of a nuisance in this dungeons.

Also, if anyone has even read this far, I WOULD find a guild on HoD that does dungeons, but currently I am in a small guild that roams and does a lot of WvW and they are a nice bunch so if someone does see this and want to I guess recruit me, note that I probably will not be leaving as I still want to WvW as my main activity in the game.

Edit: Upon request, my Necro is 80. I can be online pretty much at all times between 9 AM PST and 11 PM PST all days except when I am at the gym. And yes I am able to get on any voice program to make learning easier.

Ok so first off thank you very much for how much work you put into doing all of that for me. Really appreciate it! I do have one last question. Currently as I mentioned I’m running the first build you linked, the 30/20/0/0/20 build. And in the build editor you linked, is the Dire gear a must? Or can you swap that for Rabid gear? Which is currently what I am using. Just missing 2 pieces. And Carrion trinkets? I ask this because I do intend to start getting gear for probably a Zerker set so I can run that zerg build and have a Zerker set for PvE as I hear that is good to use. So problem is, of course gold. If I were to keep playing the 30/20/0/0/20 build, would you suggest going with that Dire gear instead? Or keep the current Rabid gear and Carrion trinkets. Weapons are also Carrion. It seems like especially with the Dhuumfire trait, using Rabid gear which gives me the crit instead of vitality that Dire gear does, could be better since that equals more Dhuumfire procs?

Sorry if that was a mouthful lol. Hopefully you see this post so I can get this answered and either start buying Dire gear or go onto buying Zerker gear.

Edit: Also Monkeymonger, what are your thoughts on using Signet of Spite? I’ve been struggling to substitute it Spectral Walk mostly because of how good the Active on it is. Typically it seems pretty kitten strong to use since for one it puts an insane amount of conditions on your target that you can instantly Feast of Corruption for some nice burst/lots of Life Force. Also I assume any smart player would remove those condis right away, but even if they do, there goes their condi removal skill. Also seems insanely good to use with Epidemic to spread all those yummy condis. Just wanted to know your take on it

Ok so I realize fully there are Necro guides at the top of the forum. But when checking them out, most of the videos are from 2012.. which leads me to believe they are outdated. I see a few build posts here and there, some theory craft posts and some actual build posts but I really do not have the time right now to dig through pages of text for what I am looking for! So….

First off, I currently use the Scepter/Dagger / Staff Condi build 30/20/0/0/20. The Dhuumfire build utilizing the fear duration/damage. I am wearing mostly Rabid gear with Carrion Weapons and Trinkets. And really only roam in WvW. I do zerg once or twice a day but do not want to actually change builds for it since I’m content using my current build.

So mostly what I’m looking for is a few (if there are any more) viable builds for roaming, mostly solo. I’ve tried power builds in spvp a bit but they seem quite boring to me. That or not as useful as the Condi build I currently run. Which leads me to think that for solo roaming, the build I run is the most effective. But when testing these power builds out in spvp I have not actually looked up guides for the correct Runes/Sigils/Build/or Utility Skills to use, since I’ve mainly just been going with what I thought would work. So possibly I am just building wrong? My problem though with swapping to a Power build for WvW is I will need to buy another whole set of gear.

Also, I’ve been wanting to start PvEing. Does the build I currently run work at all? Or will I be raged at. I’ve been told running a Wells build works well for PvE so I might just start working for gearing that but hopefully I get some good answers in this post.

So I am looking for a few up to date builds since the build topic seems out dated.. so here is what I plan on doing.

WvW Roaming mostly. Either solo or with a few people. I’ve been watching a stream where the Thief plays D/P and basically relies on huge Backstab crits. Seems like quite a fun build. But what else is there that is as good or better?

Also I don’t think I will PvE much, but I’d still like a good PvE build to play for when I feel like doing something else.
