I’ve had this error message today when trying to log in with any of my characters who are all in the Black Citadel. I sent a ticket and got a reply very quickly with a solution that has worked for me. The guesting on another world worked too as a temporary fix, but here is what was suggested to me. the first recommendation being the one that worked for me(Warning- using this method resets any UI and graphical settings to their default) Hope it helps. Thank you Anet for your quick response:)

“Hello,

Thank you for getting back to me on this issue. In the past, we have noted that a change to the command line has resolved this type of issue for some players.

We’d like you to try the following:

Please go to your Guild Wars 2 shortcut and right click it, then choose “Properties.”
In the line that says “Target,” add a space at the end of the target line and then add the following: –prefreset (with the dash)
Your target line then should look something like this:
“C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” –prefreset
Click “Apply” and then “OK.”

Once you have completed the steps above, try launching the game and logging into the character with which you’ve been having issues. If this resolves the issue, go back into your shortcut and remove the–prefreset string from the target line.

If this does not work, please try using the instructions below to prevent background applications from automatically starting with Windows as this can often causes issues like the one you reported. Please note, this command will not uninstall any applications from your computer. All MSCONFIG does is prevent these applications from automatically starting when Windows boots up.

To do this:

Press and hold the Windows key and then hit the R key. This should bring up the Run dialog box.
Type “MSCONFIG” without the quotes, and click “OK.” This should open the System Configuration Utility.
Click on the “Services” tab and check the “Hide All Microsoft Services” check box near the bottom, then click the “Disable All” button. (You MUST click “Hide all Microsoft Services”)
Next go to the “Startup” tab and click the “Disable All” button.
Once these items are all disabled, click the “OK” button and you will get a prompt to restart your computer. Please restart your computer.
Once you return to Windows, please try connecting to the game again.

To reverse these settings, simply run MSCONFIG again and click “Normal Startup” on the first window labeled “General.”

Note: If you need a specific application to run with Windows but still want to use MSCONFIG, just follow the above instructions and on step 4, re-check any application you feel needs to start with Windows. Examples would be wireless connection software, mouse or keyboard applications or even security applications. Please note that security applications can often be a contributing factor to such issues. If you haven’t done so already, please also disable any Anti-virus, Firewall or other security applications for testing purposes. While we do not recommend running your machine without a security application, should disabling the software help resolve your issue we can reinstall it and work to configure the application so it doesn’t cause this issue.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Regards,"

Megaservers and RP

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Wandering around In-game recently, I’ve seen several people disparaging the Roleplayers amongst us since the launch of the Megaserver. I thought of an idea to help people recognise the players who like to and are up for Roleplaying. Why not have a title added to the list of achievable titles?Actively Roleplaying” or similar. It can be toggled on and off as required so those not interested in joining in- character activities and discussions can steer clear. I have 2 party groups one of which likes to RP and one that is purely PVE adventure based, so a title would be a great addition and would help form new bonds with like for like players.

EDIT— Didn’t see the MEGASERVERS and RP thread until I’d posted this one lol, but I still think a roleplay title is a good idea.
