I remember a few weeks ago, I did my first dungeon (and guess which one it was?). I instantly fell in love with it. I liked every aspect of it, the enemies, the tactics used and the bosses. Some may say that it may be repetitive, but I had a friend that would always come up with new and ingenious ways to do the paths. Unfortunately, my dungeon adventures changed when that update arrived.
I thought it would stay the same for the most part, but when I faced the spider queen with a few of my friends, we got the beating of our lives (even if we were veterans for this dungeon). We had even brought over a level 35 who was doing his first dungeon ever! We end up killing her after many tries. Then, we pass the traps and face the… should I even call it a troll? It started shooting lightning at us, using fear on us, and ground pound/ shock wave kill us! You know how the story goes after that. Lots of death, little success and lots of silver lost.
It seemed that AC was the welcoming ground to dungeons, a kind of tutorial for newcomers. But now it seems like all the people who reach level 30 will be scared and hide away from dungeons forever. Yes, level 80s who knew what to do would pass the catacombs with no problem, but they would also show the example to the new ones, to show them how to do it properly. Today it seems that there are very little level 80s to help out the new ones. They are left for themselves with other level 30s, 40s and 50s who are most likely trying for the first time or that do not have a complete build yet. I fear that some players will be pushed away forever from the dungeons and, in extreme cases, from guild wars.
Let the new players have as much fun as I had doing them, let them have a good feeling about dungeons.
Thanks,
