I wondered this too thought it never really bothered me but my friend explained it to me this way. Karma is basically earned via the good deeds you’ve done on your character. Hence why you get them from completing events and hearts. Rather than viewing them as a form of currency think of the objects you buy with karma as hand outs from the people of Tyria as a gesture of thanks in helping them out. Sure it doesn’t really help you out but I think it’s pretty neat how karma works. It would be weird if the good deeds done on your char rewards your newly made human.

Anet has repeatedly stated that they are not moving to account unlocks for dyes.
Also, the majority of dyes are so affordable there really isn’t a need to offer account unlocks for them. Only a handful can be considered expensive.
Playing the dye lottery just wouldn’t be as enjoyable either.

So you found a celestial dye and used it without knowing it’s potential value on the market. Tough luck. Not to sound like a total jerk or anything but that’s just something that’s bound to happen with any new game or content. I found a white dye and gave it to my engineer. However, I just couldn’t get it to blend well with anything. Ivory dye turned out much better for me. In hindsight I wish I would have given my white dye to a different character, but that’s just how it is and I’m perfectly fine accepting that.

Also, I could do without seeing everyone be bland and generic by wearing just black and white.

I understand where you’re coming from but I’m afraid this whole conversation is getting offtrack of my suggestion. I’ve never asked for account wide dye archives, I’m asking for an item that can extract a used dye on one character and transfer it to another character from the same account. It’s basically buying paying money to buy something you already have. It’s not making a new dye out of thin air it’s salvaging a dye already used and making it re-available to that specific account.

You seem to have taken my screenshots as a complaint on how I want my celestial dye back but that’s where you’re wrong. Perhaps I will remove them as to not cause any more further confusion but I wont. I was just trying to show you how I was able to think of my suggestion, nothing more, nothing less. I’ve come to accept that I already lost the use of that dye and I moved on. I made that character and got that dye 5 months ago, if it were that big of a deal to me I would’ve stopped playing a long time ago. I just held onto that character because the slot wasn’t really needed and just in case an item as I suggested were to come out. Call it being optimistic.

Also you try to come off as not being a jerk but then with that last comment you stereotype me as a person who only uses black and white and nothing else when you only see that on the one character I posted. I take great insult to that because I actually try to make my characters as unique as possible.

Hey there! I was thinking about getting a one time consumable item out there which allows you to salvage used dyes. For instance, you have a dye on one character that you would prefer to use on another one of your alts, simply just use the consumable which then pops up your dye archive and you just click the dye to salvage. This then removes the dye from your list and turns it into a identified dye ampoule. Worried this can be abused in any way shape or form? Just make the salvaged dyes account bound! This will not affect any game play in any way and it would be something I would definitely buy from the black lion marketplace. It shouldn’t be overly expensive otherwise people would rather just buy the dye off the marketplace but it’d be a great option to have.

What made me make such a suggestion? Well when the game initially released I was testing out a bunch of classes and on my elementalist I had found a Celestial dye and not knowing its rarity since the game had just gone live, I used it expecting it to be account wide. I stopped playing that elementalist long ago and made a new elementalist because I preferred a different race. Now afraid of throwing away the celestial dye on my character I have a used character slot of a character I will never play.

Hey there, I was just wondering if you ever plan on creating a dye extraction item for the game? What do I mean by dye extraction? I’m thinking of a one time use item which lets you remove a dye from your palette and make it a reusable account bound dye for any of your characters. The reason I’m asking if this will sometime happen is because back when the game started my first Rare dye in the game happened to be a celestial dye. Being new to the game I assumed the dye would apply to my account rather than my character and I used it on my elementalist. Thing is, I never used my elementalist because it wasn’t really my style, you can imagine how disappointed I was when i found out dyes were character based, and even more so when I realize how valuable it was. Now the Celestial Dye is racking up to 10 gold per dye and I can barely cover than with what I have earned my whole GW career. I still have my elementalist, just because I’m afraid to delete it considering how big of a waste that dye would become if i just got rid of him. If no dye reclaim item is planned or will be planned it’s understandable, it was worth asking since I have nothing to lose. The new back braces were implemented when the monthly event came, instances give special accessories and stuff now

Gurps – I literally tried xmuting the lvl 1 backpack onto a nonsoulbound forest brace like yesterday, it transferred the soulbound status. Right before i typed it I tried fusing it in the bank and it still is bound to the lvl 2 character.

all back items seem to be soulbound on acquire, seems like a dead end here.

I considered transmutation stones but, where am i supposed to acquire a back brace item that isnt soulbound? and if i transmute the soulbound starter backpack would it transfer the soulbound status as well?

Hey I’m an engineer in the game and I was wondering if there is a back item which has the exact same skin as the universal multitool you could choose as your engineer backstory. I chose the monacle because that’s is what i preferred over the backpack but now I see I can craft the monacle. I tried buying the guild backpack but it’s way too thin compared to the bulky backpack you could’ve gotten when you started. I would remake but I dont think I would want to remax out huntsman, and leatherworking as well as re-clear all the maps i have already done. I mean if i wasn’t able to craft the monocle i wouldn’t have this problem but now one is accessible to all while the backpack seems to be accessible to the few that started with it and that seems rather unfair.

What I Look For

I’m looking for a guild who isn’t too big, maybe at least 10+ active people would be nice. 100+ guilds usually end up having a poor community :l I’m looking for people who are social and willing to do instance runs. Not looking for people who do nothing but dungeon runs. I prefer a laid back active guild rather than a strict one. Not looking to switch servers unless really necessary (already switched servers with friends don’t want to split with them)

-Make Engineer look super awesome
-Work on Runes and Maximizing Gear
-Get 100% Map Clear with Engineer
-Get [Light] and [Heavy] armor class to 80

Yeah even though it’s an elementalist skill I’m pretty sure this skin is possible. I can’t say I know how to make it but the weapon Volcanus is a greatsword who’s skin is exactly that of the elementalist elite weapon summon. This is most likely something you forge in the mystic forge.

Hey guys Eidoron here, even though I’m busy managing my own guild please shoot me an invite to the guild as well so I can help out with instance runs. Sorry for not being as active had lost internet for 2 days and now that it’s up I’ve been trying to finish up some goals within reach. Been Grinding Sorrow’s Embrace Path 2 and 3 to get some exotic pieces and just finished getting my second craft to 400. I’m willing to help out anyone who needs it on the Maguuma server, though I feel bad for the people on Yaks bend considering i transferred from there :<

In terms of exp in instances, I’ve done all the story up to Sorrows Embrace, meaning i havent done Citadel of Flames or Crucible of Eternity as well as ARAH [dont remember what the acronym stood for]. in terms of explorables I’ve done all ascalonian catacombs and path 2 and 3 of sorrows embrace. I’m willing to do anything between the two, nothing further since I’m ocd with storyline and map completion :l

Edit: Concerning the story quests, I assume since you can join other people’s instance runs no matter what server you are in the same would go with story quests. I’m willing to test this with anyone. When you do a story quest it takes you to an instanced area so who is to say that as long as you’re in the same map it won’t ask you to join? Whether it works or not we should check it out.

A little bit about me: I am the guild leader of a really small krewe which basically consists of me and like 4 friends. We were originally from Yaks Bend but moved over to Maguuma since the people we planned on playing with in Yaks sort of dropped. Sad to say, things didn’t change when we swapped to Maguuma. We remade our guild from Storm Front Vanguard [SFV] to Crescents Bane [SUN] for multiple reasons, which I can disclose if you ask me at a later time, but to say the least we wanted a fresh start. We’re sort of a small group of friends so we dont really have much people to play with at the moment, being the guild leader I felt obligated to start some sort of social network in order to be able to run instances or do group things more often. Tried negotiating with other guilds to have some sort of representation between guilds, only worked with another small guild.

I mostly play my Engineer at the moment since he was my first character, do look forward into playing my mesmer but i figure I should deck out my engineer before i do so. I’ve been planning on doing Sorrows embrace instance runs for the past couple of weeks and actually started doign so yesterday. What usually gets me into a game is the ability to make my character look super amazing and enjoying the game with good company.

What I’m looking for: Hoping to meet people who are willing to keep in contact for future runs and such.

Hey guys, to clarify, I’m not looking to be a dedicated member of a guild but rather create some sort of network between guilds. I’m the leader of a really small guild Crescents Bane [SUN] on Maguuma, we recently moved from Yaks Bend to meet up with some people to play with. Unfortunately, we seem to be in the same situation as we were in Yaks Bend. We already set up base in Maguuma so I’m not sure if we’d be willing to transfer again so this would only apply to people within our current server.

What I’m proposing is not a guild merge or anything just a representative [most likely me] to be sent between our guild and any other guild willing to participate, while the other guild sends a representative to ours. By doing so, if either krewe needs people to run an instance or for anything at all, the representative can pop in the other guild to organize a party or whatnot. I know it sounds complicated, and like way too much work, but I hope you’re able to get the gist of what I’m saying.
