Yep, I was caught on an overflow server, too. For 30 minutes, there was nothing but confused people… then, I got offered to go to the main instance for Lion’s Arch… and it became clear that the event had happened. No way to go back to the overflow instance, I logged out… lost my Saturday morning essentially.
I’ve been a BIG defender of this game. A few small gripes aside, I still really believe in this game’s design… however, it’s hard to defend against the bugs in this event. I’m just getting “told ya so” from the game’s detractors right now, and… I’ve got nothing to hit them back with. 
I couldn’t even complete the lead-in quests. I told myself “OK, that’s fine… I’m really here for the big event anyway…” and it just passed me by…
I want so badly for this game to really live up to what it could be… but unless I get really bored, probably going to sit the rest of this event out. I hope these get better… I really do.
