"Fixed" Monk Outfit - Updated July 28th

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I sincerely hope that the outfit is properly fixed soon. I paid for a slim-looking GW1 monk outfit, not a matronly outfit that suddenly gives all of my characters thunder thighs and eats the top of my legs… Yes, it originally had some minor clipping issues on my characters, but it didn’t bother me as much as the new look does. Currently I really wish I hadn’t bought the outfit, and I’ll be very hesitant to buy any others in the future.

Ok, after a little bit of exploring, these were all the affected WP’s I was able to find. Has anyone found some elsewhere? I plan to do another sweep when I get home tonight.

Also, it’ll be interesting to see if the WP’s being affected will have any correlation to the Thumpers from LS1. There were a lot of intriguing theories (and hilarious pictures) going around about them several months ago.

I am loving all these sneaky/silent additions to the living world!! The vines (and now the mysterious centaur) have sparked my interest in exploring all of Tyria again. The vines are spreading, and they’re spreading quickly. We’ve gotta check all the maps and waypoints! ~puts on her detective cap and hiking shoes~

What’s most impressive though, is how we can actually see/track the spread of the vines without having to go through any major updates or wait times, even though they’re spreading and affecting multiple maps. It makes the game world feel flawless and so alive!

Fantastic job, ANet!!

It was tough choosing just one dungeon. They’re all so beautiful in their own way!

After some debate, I took my Asuran Necromancer to check out Arah. It’s definitely a great place to explore if you’re looking for dead bodies to do necro experiments on… Except that they’re technically already undead…So you’re making undead minions out of dead undead creatures… hmm… Moving along~

Thanks Donari! I’ll give those two boots a try. Hopefully their dye colors will match my current armor (so frustrating when the same dye looks completely different on different armor; makes matching even more of a challenge).

Haha, yeah the knives aren’t the best, but they’re the only shoulder piece that doesn’t clip horribly with the top part of the gloves (other than the one that’s a set with the gloves). Plus, I like to think of my thief as having extra knives/daggers, cause y’know, you can never have too many weapons to fling at enemies. :P

Made a temporary new character to see if I could make another one of my favorite Fire Emblem characters, The Black Knight.

Your Fire Emblem combos are great! It really looks like the Black Knight.

Here’s my latest mix:

That is a beautiful look! Love the colors you chose too.

Recently updated my Thief with what will probably be her main look from now on. Still trying to find medium shoes that I like, or fit better with the set though.

Wait What?

It was clear, but ANet wanted to add some ‘resistance’ to the scoring.

With your system, 100 people could go to a T8 server and level it to tier 1 in 7 weeks, just win the match each week.

With the current system, that is impossible, because you can’t win enough ranking each week to jump 3 places.

Ah, I see. Thank you for explaining that. It makes sense that ANet would want a system that wouldn’t allow something like that to happen.

As it currently stands though, those same people could go to a T8 server right now and rofl-stomp all the other lower-tier servers for weeks on-end, with no change in sight. Why don’t they? I think it’s because -as much as we may like winning- many of us prefer well-balanced matches more. That feeling of inching out a win against two other opponents close to your skill/level is amazing. Not everyone wants to be T1 or “The Best of the Best”(even though judging from the stacking in Leagues, it might not seem that way). Many of us just want fun, fair match-ups without steamrolling.

I agree though; there would need to be some sort of system in place to stop T1 cravers from steamrolling through lower tiers like that. Back to the drawing board!

I apologize if this idea has been brought up before (I’m still pretty new to WvW), but rather than using a complex ranking system and percentages to determine match-ups for all of the servers, why not use something a little simpler? For example (using NA servers):

1) Rather than ranks 1-24, we can have 8 “brackets” (A-H). For example:
A-1 = Blackgate
A-2 = JQ
A-3= SoR

B-1 = TC
B-2= FA
B-3= SoS …. etc

2) At the end of each week, the servers will shift depending on their scores: [Using Bracket C as an example]
1st place: move up to the next bracket [ from C to B ]
2nd place: stay in current bracket [ C ]
3rd place: move down to the lower bracket [ C to D ]

This will guarantee brackets B-G completely new match-ups each week. Brackets A and H won’t have as much variation, but it also means that they will be more likely to face off against servers they are most compatible with.

With server transfers, a server’s WvW population can be very different from one week to the next. Leagues was a very good example of this. With the current system, a server that may have been very weak last week, may get a large influx of players and dominate. That server would then be steamrolling in their current rank for several weeks at a time; leading to some of the very lopsided matches we’ve seen recently.

The bracket system would let the servers shift as their populations shift. Got a large influx of WvW’ers in your server? Then you’ll move up in brackets as you keep getting first place each week. You move up until you reach a bracket where you can’t constantly get first place. Likewise, if your server just lost all of its WvW population, and you keep getting 3rd place, you’ll move down in brackets until you’re not being steamrolled anymore.

I’m not sure if my explanation was fully clear, so here’s an example picture of how the servers would be matched up next week, if this system were in place. Do you think something like this could work? Maybe ANet could give it a try someday.

I’d just like to echo what some others have said about GW1 armors; there were so many amazing options to choose from. I’d gladly fling my wallet and all the money in it at ANet if I could dress my ranger and thief in the first picture on this list.

Actually, I’d probably do that if they released any of the armors on this list. xD

Nice hue matching on the light armor vs. the holo-shatterer wings.

What skin tone did you use on that Sylvari?

Thanks! I think her skin was “Pale Pink” or something like that.

Mixing and matching armor pieces is so much fun.
My ladies: Ranger, Mesmer, and Thief
I love playing on my thief, but love hopping on my ranger/mesmer to frolic around in pretty armor. I’ll probably change my thief’s set soon. Also thinking of making a heavy armor class next, to continue playing dress-up. :p

I believe 3 and 4 are npc clothing.

Even if they are NPC clothing, it would be awesome to be able to wear them on our characters. I’d prefer if ANet spent their time making those clothing/armors useable by players, rather than adding fire effects to old armors. And that way they wouldn’t have to touch cultural armors (they can leave them for the races they were originally meant for) and still make money to fund the game.

Another “why” that came to mind:
WHY didn’t ANet release one of these armors instead?

At the very least the PVP Tribal one is already in-game, and people have been asking for a PVE version of it since game launch. I’m sure ANet could make lots more money selling those (heck I’d buy at least one of each) than sub-par reskins.

I did a huge double-take when I saw the “new” armors. I couldn’t believe that ANet would actually do something like this. My reaction was simply: WHY?????

WHY would you take armor that has been in the game since launch and try to sell them as “new”?

WHY WHY would you take something that was exclusive to one race (one of the cultural armors’ main appeal) and then let all others wear it?

WHY WHY WHY would you then take said armor and sell it for LESS than what it’s worth in-game?

WHY would you take something unique and just slaughter that uniqueness?

For money? Seriously? I don’t think the money you’ll earn from this fiasco will make up for the fact that you have made many of your customers extremely unhappy.

Sorry, but I’ll have to let you and the others with MF gear try that out. I’d prefer not to spend gold on armor/food/etc. on a mechanic that appears to be bugged at the moment to test something that this company should be doing anyways. Also, it would be very disappointing if the only way to get decent loot (even just green armor/weapons) would be to invest in MF gear. It’s been months and we still don’t know what MF is actually supposed to do or if it’s working “correctly”…

I spent the last hour or so playing as I usually do: exploring the map, staying in an area long enough to complete the heart and any nearby DE’s going on, and then moving on to the next area/heart. The only difference was that I paused in between to write down mob/drops.

The map this time was Fireheart Rise. “X” means I got nothing.

Sad to say, but I felt “lucky” this time that the 2 Veteran mobs I battled actually dropped something. Most of the time veterans and champions don’t drop anything at all for me.

Now, out of 99 monsters (sorry, thought I’d kept track of 100..):

  • 51 (FIFTY-ONE) gave NOTHING. Absolutely Nothing.
  • 11 gave armor/weapons ( 6 WHITE, 5 BLUES)
  • 0 greens
  • 0 rares (didn’t expect to get any anyways…)
  • 0 exotics (what are those again??)

Is this really the “normal” drop-rate? At this point, whether it was changed or not in November is a moot point. The drop-rate, whether it was changed or not, is terrible right now. GW2 is turning out to be the most UNrewarding game I’ve played in a long time…

Edit: Forgot to mention, this is all with 0% MF. Don’t think it would get much better with it anyways, from what I’ve read in various forums.
