An idea for dailies.

What if you had a list of say 30 daily quests to choose from, and by completing 5 of them you would gain your daily? That way it would not “force” people to do things they didn’t want to.

I believe Arenanet said in an interview that they were already looking into this kind of idea. It led me to believe that this initial change to Daily/Monthly is only the beginning and that they want to give Players more options in future.

And then player changes their Time Zone back a couple of hours when they get close to it to give them more than 24 hours to do a daily.

Surely the Daily timer could be set to the time zone of your login location, not your PC clock? The game already logs your location as a security measure. In fact I believe the Local time clock in-game already uses your login location as reference. Meaning the Player can’t change it.

I personally have no issue with the current setup, as the Daily expires at midnight for me. Just discussing ideas that might help others in the thread who find it difficult.

I’ve always seen the Daily/Monthly as a challenge. If the Daily rolls over to the next day, and the next etc, the reward would be guaranteed, it would purely depend on how long you take to get it. Therefore I think it would stop becoming a challenge, in the way Arenanet intended the Daily/Monthly to be. I enjoy looking at the Daily and thinking of the best location in which to complete it. It leads me to explore more of the world and get involved in events I hadn’t seen previously.

I think it would be a good idea if Laurels dropped as a rare random drop from mobs too, or maybe just from Veterans and Champions? So that the Laurel is not purely exclusive to Daily/Monthly achievements. This would allow players who don’t have time to complete their Daily, the chance to still loot a Laurel whenever they have time to play.

I certainly don’t play GW2 everyday nor would I want to, and when I do play it’s merely for an hour or so. However, because the Daily reset is at midnight I usually have time to complete the Daily earlier and not run into the Reset issue others are suffering. Hence why in my earlier comment I suggested the Daily be set to the Player’s local time, not Server time.

The idea of a visible timer, that someone else suggested, would be a useful addition. Yet probably best as a toggle-able option so people who don’t want to see it can turn it off.

Dungeon Solo

I’ve always hoped this idea would be implemented. I’d really enjoy playing a Dungeon solo or with 1 or 2 friends. I’d play them far more often! Simply scale the mobs and loot to suit the number of players involved, just like Events. At the moment I’ve only completed 2 Dungeons, because I rarely find anyone else willing to play Story mode. I’d be quite happy to play them solo!

I think it defeats the object to have the same Daily rollover to the next day if you ran out of time to complete it. What’s to stop that same Daily rolling over several days if you still haven’t finished it. Those Daily targets were for that day only, that’s the whole point, hence the name. If you don’t have enough time that day, never mind, you’ll have a chance to do a Daily tomorrow, or whenever you choose to play next. It’s not like the Daily takes that long to complete anyway and it often fits in well with whatever events and exploration you’re doing.

Once I was at 90% completion and the Daily reset at midnight. Instead of blaming the mechanic, I simply thought, hmm, too slow! It didn’t bother me unduly as I’d enjoyed playing. I then went on to complete the new Daily and grabbed the Laurel.

I think the main problem is that, due to the difference in timezones, the Reset can happen in the middle of the day for some people. However, I live in the UK, so my Reset happens at midnight, which is perfect as it’s naturally the start of a new day. Perhaps the Daily Reset should be connected to the Player’s Local time, not the Server time, then the Rollover would happen at midnight for everyone, wherever they live.

Largos must be a new race

Personally I don’t feel the art design of the Largos fits in with the rest of Tyria. I played GW1 for many years, to see players running around with huge wings/fins would just look odd and impractical. Their wings should probably fold down whilst on land (like someone else suggested).

Kodan and Tengu would be a much better choice, they already have a strong culture and design style. They seem more versatile profession-wise too. These two races would suit a Cantha expansion, much like Factions.

Also Skritt would be great too. They seem to have different tribes(?) too, good and bad, so it would be simple to play as a new tribe from a new Skritt Scratch (city). Again, they are versatile and it’ll be good to have another small race, to go alongside the Asura, but still be vastly different. Skritt would probably suit an Elona expansion, like Nightfall, as you can imagine lots of rat-men at home amongst the sand and rocky terrain.

If they were to make the Hylek a playable race I think they’d have to be careful how they animated them. We’d probably see them hopping when they sheath weapons, but run when weapons are drawn, like the Charr. Otherwise constant hopping would get tedious and impractical trying to do jumping puzzles! Would be great too see blowpipes as a weapon though! Hylek would best suit an Elona expansion too.

Naga and Centaur would be awesome, but I just think they hate everybody too much to form an alliance. Ventari was a friendly Centaur of course, however most of the Centaur in GW2 seem to be evil, except for that outcast in Lion’s Arch, which is great.

Quaggan have the potential to be another comical race in terms of animation, like the Asura. Also the ‘hulk out’ could be like the Necro’s Death Shroud, and would be a very cool mechanic. Architecture, design-wise, they seem to be the underwater Sylvari, which is nice.

There are certainly lots of possibilities!

The Female Human epidemic

My main character is a female Human Necromancer, who I played as in GW1. I always see her as a noble, intelligent, powerful character. On the other hand I have a male Sylvari Ranger and male Asura Warrior, as well as a female Sylvari Elementalist. Even though I don’t see myself in my characters, nor do I Role-play, but I still like to imagine them with a personality, because I feel more invested in the game world. So, for me, I guess gender is a design choice. I design the appearance to suit the personality I want the character to have; gender is just one facet of the overall design.

Artifact Collections or... SHINIES!!

The original GW1 has this kind of feature. There are Collectors out in the wild and you trade various trinkets/artifacts with them for armour, weapons etc. I didn’t use them all that often, but they were fun and I enjoyed that kind of immersion and exploration side to it.

I’d like to see Collectors come back into GW2. Someone to trade those ‘Trophies’ too? If only for a small Gold or Karma reward. Special items would be great too, if it isn’t too difficult to implement or at risk of upsetting the economy.

Renown Heart Armour - Different Designs Across Racial Zones

I was disappointed to learn that armour designs bought from completed Renown Hearts were the same across all Racial Zones. I started off as a Human and looked forward to travelling into the Norn zones and hopefully finding Norn style armour from Renown Hearts. Likewise, travelling to the Charr/Sylvari/Asura zones and finding appropriate Racial inspired designs.

Sadly this is not the case (as far as I’m aware), but would love to see this implemented in future. Not only would it allow for more visual variety, but inject even more incentive into exploring all the different zones in the game. I think most players would enjoy the variety and the immersion created by seeing different Race and Lore appropriate armour designs in different Racial Zones (instead of the current, very Human inspired designs, across all Racial Zones).

Naturally I am unsure how difficult this idea would be to implement, however I really hope Arenanet will find it a viable option for future updates/expansions.

Still loving the game and look forward to seeing it develop!

I agree. You can preview items from merchants and karma vendors, you should be able to do so in the Trading Post. Especially important when buying expensive armour/weapons. Also, it’s fun to preview higher lvl items, to see what there is to look forward too!
