I just wanted to add my feedback to this thread.

I completed all of the stages leading up to the final battle. As the Ancient Karka was going down to the lower levels I had a horrendous lag spike which led to me being swarmed on the ramp by hatchlings and dying. As no-one was around to res me I decided to travel back to the WP, at which point my game froze completely, leaving me stuck on the map and then on the loading screen for ages.

By the time I had ressed at the WP and run back to the cave the Ancient Karka was down and the chest had spawned. I ran up to the chest but was unable to interact with it at all and it quickly despawned.

So no, I didn’t get to take part in the final battle, I missed the cutscene and I missed the loot chest. Admittedly because I didn’t take part in the final part I might not be eligible for the loot but it was due to lag I died and if the game hadn’t frozen I might have made it back in time to take part.

I’ll wait for more info from ANet but at the moment it’s really spoiled the event for me and I thought it definitely had some good ideas in it.
